Activities at Werrington Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

54th Wedding Anniversary
Today marked the 54th Wedding Anniversary of our wonderful resident Barbara, and her husband Ken.
We congratulated them on this milestone, and supplied them with a bouquet of flowers and a gift. They have had a lovely afternoon together today, and were very thankful, with smiles all round.

Movement to Music
Gathering in a circle, we had some Elvis Presley music on in the background, whilst we did some gentle seated exercises. Stretching our arms, wiggling our fingers and shimmying along to the music, our residents really enjoyed themselves. We also had a request to do this more regularly!

Scrabble Club
We had a change of scenery this morning, sitting in our Reception area to play a game of Scrabble.
This game went down very well, as it really got our residents thinking. We had to have a dictionary on hand as we stopped being able to think clearly of what is and isn't a word!
One of our residents managed to overcome having very difficult letter tiles, and superseded her fellow players to take the lead and win. She gained our highest play score which was 42, using the help of a double word score.

Live Music Entertainment
Marcello joined us again this month to provide Live Music Entertainment for us. Our residents had a blast, singing, swaying along to the music, and even dancing!
We had a variety of songs, from 'Devil in Disguise' to 'Is This The Way To Amarillo'.
We had lots of show-rounds of prospective residents' friends and families. They had a tour round our home, spoke to some of our staff, and learnt about our extraordinary Life-Enrichment Programme. Those who came during our entertainment were welcomed into the Dining Room to be part of our experience.

Rutland Water
Today some of our residents embarked on an adventure over to explore Rutland Water, Oakham.
Our residents had a fabulous time travelling on the home’s minibus; they’ve enjoyed a day, full of tranquillity and walks, followed by a scrumptious picnic provided by our amazing chefs and of course some ice cream.
We were able to explore the local wildlife, which everyone found fascinating. Using the Birdwatching hides, we named lots of different birds near the water.
A lovely day was had by all.

67th Wedding Anniversary
Our lovely resident - Norma - had a big day celebrating her 67th Wedding Anniversary with her husband, Cecil!
This morning, they were greeted with a decorated private lounge with banners and balloons. They were both offered hot drinks and a mid-morning snack. During this time, they opened their Anniversary Cards from us and their friends and families, and we presented them with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a box of truffle chocolates.
This afternoon, they then shared a private 1:1 dinner together, enjoying wonderful food cooked by our fantastic chefs. They were also presented with a cake in celebration.
