Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.
Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!

Kelly Sherwin
I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.
My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Tandridge Heights welcome Marlings Morris
Residents at Tandridge Heights were delighted to welcome the Marlings Morris for an afternoon of music and dancing.
The group consists of local men and women performing the North West Morris style of dancing and some of the dances date back to the 1800’s and take their name from towns in Lancashire and Cheshire.
Resident Jean said it was wonderful to see something so different and colourful on a dreary day.

Talented Andy Mace
Tandridge Heights recently welcomed back the very talented Andy Mace to perform a selection of fun sing-a-long songs. Andy had us all laughing to his cheesy dad jokes and random facts.
Resident, Mena was up dancing and having the best time, she said ‘I just love the fun songs he sings like La Bamba and Pretty woman’
New resident Audrey said ‘Oh its great here, I’ve had the time of my life’
Everyone had such a good time we’ve asked him to come back and perform at our residents Christmas party.

Knit and Natter club
Here at Tandridge Heights we like to keep busy and we love to have a chat so Knit and Natter club is the perfect combination.
We are currently working on blankets and bonding squares for the Premature babies at East Surrey Hospital, the residents all agreed this was a great project and they love to help. We welcome all residents regardless of knitting abilities, many just like to come for the tea and chat and our Head Housekeeper Sharon is always on hand to help sort out and knitting catastrophes. Resident Ann-Marie says ‘It is fantastic! I always used to knit and did not think I could do it anymore due to my Arthritis, it makes me so happy’.

Garden Centre
Residents at Tandridge Heights made the most of the recent sunshine and visited our local Knights Garden Centre in Oxted. Residents spent time browsing the shop and admiring the harvest and Halloween decorations before heading to the café and enjoying a nice cup of tea and a slice of delicious cake. Robin said his Carrot Cake was amazing and the best he’d had in a long time. John absolutely loves flowers and all things garden, he chose some lovely new plants to plant on our balconies and has kept himself busy all weekend making the patios look lovely and colourful.

Our Activities team have been at it again, making wishes come true.
99 year old Ron’s love for cricket started at around 5 years old when his uncle took him to the Oval to watch his very first match. Over the next couple of years Ron visited the Oval many times, his last time to watch cricket being around 1935. Ron then grew up and joined the Navy before working for the gas board, Ron actually used to work on the gasometers and often worked on the one overlooking the Oval, so he could get a sneak peak of his beloved Surrey team.
Our activity team recently spoke to Ron about his love of the game. Ron told us how he would love to go back to the Oval one last time……
We arrived at the Oval bright and early, ready for our private tour of the grounds, Ron spoke about his memories and the players he had met, we looked at the amazing views of London, old photographs, and finally the memorabilia in the museum before enjoying a delicious pie and chips lunch. We then spent a couple of hours watching Surrey play against Lancashire before heading to the 175 suite in the Galadari Stand for a lovely afternoon tea.
The Ovals media team got wind of Ron’s visit and asked if they could interview him, Ron was more than happy to oblige, we were led the Prince of Wales room where they asked Ron questions about the changes he’d seen to the grounds and about his lifelong love for cricket. Ron was in his element sharing his memories with everyone. This was a perfect end to Ron’s visit.
We took a small detour on the way home showing Ron the sights of London and driving down The Old Kent Road where Ron grew up, Ron was sharing stories of his childhood and all the things he used to get up to!
We all had such an amazing day!
Ron said “Thank you girls so much, I’ve really had the most amazing day with the best company, I can’t thank you enough for organising all of this, and after my interview, I’m probably going to be famous”
