Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home
The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.
Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah
Activities Coordinators
Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.
Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.
Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.
Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.
Celebrating life at Rothsay Grange Care Home
Skittles
During the lively skittles game, everyone had a blast trying to knock down the pins with precision and skill. Laughter filled the room as players took turns aiming for the target, each turn met with cheers or groans from the spectators. The competitive spirit was high, yet there was an air of camaraderie as everyone enjoyed the friendly competition.
As the game progressed, smiles could be seen all around, from the elation of a perfect strike to the good-natured teasing of near misses. It was a delightful evening of fun and laughter, bringing friends and family together for a memorable time.

A million memories visit
What a great afternoon we had here at Rothsay Grange. Little ponies joined us. The residents and staff were amazed to see them. The benefit of these little beauties for everyone is that they provide psycho-social, emotional and physical needs that can’t always be met by humans. Animals have a way to calm you without doing much.
Not only did they brighten our day up, they gave joy to those that were nursed in bed. These little ponies are so very sweet and gentle they brought smiles to everyone.

Trip into Andover Town Centre
Trips out are always a big hit for our residents. Today we had a trip to town to see the Queen's statue. Then we had a walk round the shops and stopped off at the local coffee shop for refreshments.
The residents enjoyed an afternoon of shopping and fun. One of our residents thought that the queen was very small but thought the statue was very good.
Sensory activities
Our residents had so much fun using their senses to take part in the “Guess That Smell” activity - a sensory challenge filled with laughter and curiosity from fresh herbs to fruity scents.
Everyone was eager to test their noses and share memories linked to familiar aromas. Residents also explored their senses through contact with our new fidget items that have been kindly donated by a member of the public.
Zoolab visit
We welcomed Zoolab to our home along with their selection of exotic animals, from placid giant land snails to deadly spiders.
Residents enjoyed learning about these exotic animals and interacting with them along with the Zoolab staff members who hosted with intensive knowledge.
Mayor Visit
What a privilege to be visited by Test Valley Borough Council’s Mayor and Mayoreses Maura and Ian Jeffrey.
Our residents truly enjoyed the conversations, questions, smiles, and stories that they brought.
VE Day Celebrations!
We celebrated VE day in our home with some fantastic entertainment from JuoJoy. They got the residents engaged and singing along to some sing-along classics.
The residents enjoyed tea and cake, which were prepared by our in-house chefs. There were lots of smiles and laughter whilst enjoying this commemorative day.
Rusty's Birthday Meal
Here at Rothsay Grange we love to mark the milestones of our residents. Birthdays are important not only to the person but to family and friends. Rusty had his 99th birthday this month. As always we like to give a special meal for that one person on their birthday.
Here you can see our head chef Raff cooking up a storm in the kitchen getting Rusty’ s steak cooked the way he wanted.
Both Jackie and Deana watched as he tucked into it. The afternoon was spent with family and friends over tea and cake.
Wellbeing, or is it puppy love?
The wellbeing of our residents are high on the list at Rothsay Grange, our manager, Roxana Davis, wanted to give something to her staff too, as our wellbeing is important too. So we all had a week of fun and laughter.
We have been dressing up, playing games and cuddling puppies! Roxana was only too please to was invite some beautiful puppies into the home for us all to fall in love with. One of our bank nurses dedicates her time by fostering dogs and puppies alongside the dogs trust.
These poor wee souls have had a rubbish start in life by loosening not only their mum but two sisters too!
We all loved seeing them and I will say we all wanted to take them home. The residents loved finding out about them even though it was sad they are living the high life now, with so much love.
