Activities at Parley Place Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Activities Co-ordinator

I love being a friendly face for our residents.  A day in their lives should be filled with the care they deserve and enriched with activities.  We embrace each and every moment and make memories, I have many skills and a passion to provide our residents with the social interactions, lots of activities, smiles, laughter and fun.

Thank you to everyone who came along and joined us at our Pimms on the Green Afternoon tea. We had a fabulous afternoon in the garden, the weather was glorious, the food amazing, drinks were flowing and we did see a plane or 2!

All money raised goes towards our Big Sleep on 14th October for YMCA Bournemouth Sleep Easy campaign 2023. There is still plenty of time to donate https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/parleyplace

Next event is our Community Cafe on Thursday - this week is Chitter Chatter club - come along and join us for tea, cakes and a chat!

Table for 2

Special Wish

We have a lovely couple here at Parley who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Ivor is a devoted husband and when Brian spoke with him he said he would like to arrange a special meal for Jan as a surprise. Ivor said - "Jan is the love of my life and I could not live without her, I want to show her how special she makes me feel"  Dan, our head chef visited Ivor to come up with a menu that was special for Jan, Fillet steak with mushroom gratin and fondant potatoes and Lemon tart with strawberry sauce and a white chocolate heart for dessert. We set up our private dining room for the couple and Ivor invited Jan to meet him - she was totally shocked that he had arranged this for her, there was soft music playing and their favourite bottle of red wine ready to be poured by their dedicated waiter, Adam.

Table Tennis

Our residents requested to play Table tennis so we sourced this for them and a competitive game took place, with overall winner being Carolina!

Cocktail evening

Our cocktail evenings are always popular, light music, great conversation and our favourite alcholic and non alcoholic tipples.

Arts and Crafts Club

We started to make our own dreamcatchers this week, choosing our own items to paint and when they are dry we can hang them up in the window.

Country Fair

The rain once again put pay to our outdoor Country themed fair but in true Parley style we carried on with the party inside.

We started the event with the Ferndown Strummers Ukulele band and enjoyed them so much we gave them their first encore!

Next we were treated to a line dancing display by the Starlight dancers who showed us all how is was done before the staff (and residents) performed our own line dance for everyone! Not quite like the pro's but we got a round of applause.

Finally to finish the show the wonderful Charlotte Geary sang us an array of country songs.

We enjoyed hot dogs and cakes, lovely stalls to browse and lots of fun and laughter was had.
