Activities at Parley Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

I love being a friendly face for our residents.  A day in their lives should be filled with the care they deserve and enriched with activities.  We embrace each and every moment and make memories, I have many skills and a passion to provide our residents with the social interactions, lots of activities, smiles, laughter and fun.

World Cocktail day!

We marked this with a lovely selection of cocktails whilst enjoying the sunshine in the garden.Most residents opted for the Non-alcoholic fruit cocktail which Brian made. All served in a lovely cocktail glass with a sugar rim and a cherry! A perfect way to mark the day!What's your favourite cocktail?#WorldCocktailDay

National Doughnut Day

All the residents and staff were happy to support today - #NationalDoughnutDay!Brian went round with a selection of different doughnuts and made sure no one missed out including our lovely workman working hard on the solar panel installation!Jam, Chocolate, Strawberry, Glazed - something for everyone to choose from!!

Pizza Making Party

A huge thank you to the Anna, General Manager and her team at PizzaExpress in Christchurch for hosting some of our residents for a VIP Pizza making party - we had so much fun!The residents were so animated when they got back to the home telling us all about the dough and having to hold this above their heads! They returned with pizza's they had made choosing their own toppings. Whilst they were there they enjoyed dough balls, plenty of pizza and nice coffee after the meal. The team at the restaurant were superb and made this a truly special trip for us!

VE Day

We celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day in style today with something for everyone.To start we joined others outside West Parley Memorial Hall for a service led by St. Mark's & All Saints' Churches, West Parley and West Parley Parish Council with one of our residents laying a poppy wreath along with children from Parley Pre-SchoolAfter the moving service is was back to Parley Place for refreshments and entertainment courtesy of Retro Rita in the garden, is was a lovely morning and the sun came out for us.For lunch we decorated the room and all joined together for a "street party" with our fine china and wonderful buffet made by our versatile chefs.After lunch we were joined by some pupils from Parley First School who chatted with our residents, did some word searches together and made some paper planes.The day was finished off with a lovely player from Ferndown Ukulele Strummers providing us with another sing along!We hope you like watching the video of our day - it certainly was one to remember.

Cubs Evening visit

We had a fabulous evening yesterday designing and making paper airplanes with the 8th Bournemouth Cubs. The room was filled with laughter at some of the designs and suggestions, none of the planes flew very far but we all had so much fun it really didn't matter!

Anniversary Wishes

A beautiful couple celebrating 62 years of marriage. We decorated the room with roses and hearts, Ivor greeted Jan from the lift to join him in the family room. His face says it all, so much love for each other and they have always been a solid team working through challenging times together with a smile on their faces and having each others backs. A huge Parley Place congratulations to you both and warmest congratulations on your anniversary.
