Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hi I'm Evie and I joined Parley Place in 2024 as part of the activities team. I have a passion for making sure our residents live their best lives with fun, social interactions and choices for their daily lives.

Celebrating life at Parley Place Care Home

Chinese New Year and Pancake Day

Today marked not only Chinese New Year but also pancake day!

We enjoyed traditional pancakes this morning with a variety of toppings from traditional lemon and sugar to fruit and even marmalade! One of our residents hadn't had a pancake for over 40 years!

This afternoon we marked Chinese New year with a quiz and facts, Chinese tasters including - Chinese chicken crispy pancakes!

Beach ball Games

We had fun on the first floor with some beach balls, as we caught them we had to shout out what our favourite sweet treat was! With multiple balls being thrown it was a fun interesting afternoon with plenty of laughter!

Father Christmas Visits

So all of our residents were on the nice list this year and received a visit from Santa and his helpers on Christmas morning before our big lunch!

Resident and Staff Sing a long

Our residents were treated to a lovely afternoon last week when we all joined together to sing some carols, the lovely Mark Bussell played for us.

The final song which the staff sang to the residents was we wish you a merry Christmas!

It was a lovely afternoon, finished off with a beautiful speech from Jan, our resident ambassador, this will be shared on our page shortly.

Remembrance poppy making and service

We had the pleasure of some wonderful children from Malmesbury Park school visit us at Parley Place today to help our residents make some poppies for remembrance day.

This weekend we enjoyed a special service by Reverend Booth from St Marks and All Saints West Parley in conjunction with West Parley Memorial Hall , West Parley Parish Council Parley First School Royal British Legion Club Ferndown and others from the community.

The service honoured veterans and armed forces members who have lost their lives in the line of duty, with readings from dignitaries, school children and our residents.

Wreaths were laid and are on display in our reception for anyone who would like to come and pay their respects.

Charlotte Entertains

We had a fabulous afternoon of entertainment by the lovely Charlotte Geary this weekend.

Charlotte has been coming to sing at Parley for over 2 years and is a firm favourite with the residents. So young and talented, we enjoyed singing along and a bit of a dance.

January Birthdays

We enjoyed celebrating with Beryl and Alan already this year for their January birthday's.

Both residents enjoyed rousing singing from the staff and sharing their cakes with their fellow residents

Christmas Day Meal

We had a fabulous Traditional Christmas lunch prepared by our wonderful chef and served by all the team her at Parley Place to make sure our residents had the most magical day.

Christmas Lights Switch on

We had an amazing evening for our Christmas Lights switch on, the weather wasn't on our side but that didn't damper anyone's spirits. We all joined together in reception and our café to listen to 60 band members play for us.

Bournemouth Youth Marching Band were absolutely amazing, they totally put us all in the festive spirit. They also played Happy Birthday to our lovely Jan and helped us create a lovely moment for Ivor as he conducted the band for their last song.

Our huge thanks to the band, they not only entertained us but spent time talking with us after, it was a truly magical evening.

Gardening Club - Lavendar Bags

For gardening club we made some lovely lavender bags.

All the lavender was cut from the garden and dried for a period of time until it was ready. We spent some time working together to fill the bags, they have been distributed around the home so it's smells beautifully fragrant!

Swing Squad Entertains

Music always fills us with joy but when it's played to us by a group of teenagers who have arranged this music, the set up and played for us it was just heart warming.

The lovely Swing Squad played yesterday afternoon for us, ranging from 13 - 17 years old these amazing teenagers oozed confidence and the music they played was exceptional.

They chatted with us afterwards and were so polite and friendly, it was an absolute joy and pleasure to meet them all.

New Years Party

We had a lovely party with entertainment from the lovely duo, Serenade.

We sang, danced and toasted the New Year in altogether.

Relative and Resident Party

We enjoyed hosting a lovely afternoon for our relatives to join us for a Christmas Party.

There was great music by Heather and plenty of festive drinks and treats.

The music was followed by an interesting Christmas Quiz

3rd Birthday Party

A week on from our birthday celebrations and we are still full of energy from our Abba disco.

Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the food, fun and fireworks.

Special thanks to our volunteers who helped clear up after enjoying the fun, to our Sherilyn for all her hard work with the decorations and to all our team, residents and relatives for their continuing support and our wonderful DJ Rachel Goode

Pumpkin Picking Fun!

Today we took a trip to Sopley Farm Shop to pick some pumpkins for us to carve and the chef to use.

We had great fun and picked a variety of sizes. The sun was shining although it was a little chillier than it has been we still enjoyed soaking up some Vitamin D!
