Activities at Newington Court Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator here at Newington Court constantly strives to mentally and physically stimulate those we support in our home. We have our own minibus enabling residents to go shopping, to the local garden centre, out for fish and chips, and for boat trips in the summer. We also have regular visits from the PAT dog, musicians and entertainers. We hold cheese and wine evenings for residents and their families and our residents attend services at the local school for Remembrance Day and Christmas. The junior school also come in and sing for our residents at Christmas. The residents also attended a Christmas Party held at a local Grammar School hosted by the students.

I joined Newington Court in September 2021. After working as a Carer in September 2022 I became the Lead Activities Co-coordinator. It is a pleasure to care for our residents and make sure that their needs are met to the highest standards. Every day is different but it is a very rewarding job and gives a great sense of satisfaction. I am looking forward to ensuring that our residents are getting an enriched lifestyle and by getting to know them on a one-to-one basis making sure that we cater to everyone’s needs and interests.

Life at Newington Court Care Home
St Patrick's Day
At Newington Court we like to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. We all dressed in green, had green vegetables for lunch and later had green cocktails at our St. Patrick’s Day party! We listened to a selection of Irish songs as we enjoyed alcoholic green mojitos and non-alcoholic green smoothies. We ended the afternoon with a green themed quiz!
Baking Class
One of our residents' favourite activities is baking and we have recently had fun making some bread. The smell and texture evoked some lovely family memories.
Australia Day
At Newington Court we like to observe and celebrate national and international days. On 26th of January we marked Australia Day, we learnt more about the Australian culture, traditions and some of their landmarks. We even had a go at playing a didgeridoo!
Wild Science
We like to connect with different businesses from our local community. In January we invited Wild Science in to talk about their small mammals and reptiles. We were all able to hold and stroke them. It was a very informative afternoon, which also brought back lots of happy memories.
Keeping Active at Newington Court
We love to keep active at Newington Court by doing a variety of different activities. Our favourite activities to keep active are armchair yoga, armchair aerobics and a number of different ball games.
A visit from the Christmas Elf
Our residents got a special treat on Christmas Day morning as they were treated to a surprise visit from one of Santa's Elves! Our Christmas Elf was busy handing out gifts to residents all morning and loved surprising the residents.
