Meet the team
Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:
Hi, I'm Amanda, the Senior General Manager here at Newington Court, and I would like to welcome you to our home.
I have worked in the healthcare sector since 1998. I qualified at Luton University and worked at the NHS, specialising in surgical, rehab and end of life care. I have a degree in Critical Care Nursing and I am an experienced orthopaedic nurse. I have also spent time working in the private sector at a charitable hospital for the clergy in London and nursed for five years in Guernsey. I was promoted to General Manager at Newington Court in July 2016.
My name is Jacqueline Bissong; I started my training in May 1997 and finished in August 2000. I attended Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, and graduated as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
On completion of my nurse qualification, I worked at Lewisham Hospital on a psychiatric intensive care unit for 7 years. I then moved on to work with a primary health care team in Coventry.
Afterwards, I moved to North Wales, where I worked caring for older people. I have a vast amount of experience, as I have worked in many different areas, including on a psychosis unit and an eating disorder unit in addition to my time on the psychiatric intensive care unit.
I joined the team at Newington Court in May 2016. My role is very varied and covers HR, payroll and accounts, in addition to supporting the General Manager and the rest of the management team. I have many years experience working in secretarial, HR and accounts roles and I am also a qualified NVQ Assessor in Business Administration. I enjoy interacting with residents and seeing them happy when joining in with the activities that are arranged for them.
I joined Newington Court in December 2016 as an Admin Assistant. For the past 14 years I have worked within the social care environment, which I found very rewarding.
I have over 30 years experience working in admin and accounts and hold an NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration.
I enjoy being part of the team at Barchester's Newington Court and making a difference to the lives of those we support.
I have worked at Newington for two years. I first joined as a Carer and, when the opportunity arose to become an Activities Coordinator, I applied for the position. I love getting to know the residents and finding out about their experiences before they came to Newington Court. This helps us to organise activities that will be of interest to them. It is a very rewarding to see residents enjoying activities and joining us on our regular trips and excursions.
I trained and worked as a Registered Nurse in Zimbabwe for 4 years. I then joined Newington Court in January 2017. I love my work here and I always ensure that delivering a high standard of care is my priority. Through dedication and determination, I have earned the role as Lead Nurse on the top floor. My aim is to ensure expected outcomes are met in the best possible way and improvements are made in the best interests of the people we support.
Hi, my name is Reg, and I am the Maintenance Manager here at Newington Court
I previously worked at a leisure centre as the Maintenance Manager. I really enjoy Newington Court and Falcon Place and overseeing the care of the gardens and outside areas. I love meeting the residents and their loved ones and helping them to make their rooms feel like home.
Claire is a Senior Carer for Falcon Place, she has worked for Barchester for over 7 years and manages Falcon Place with enthusiasm and dedication, she is highly thought of by the Residents and families alike and is an asset to Barchester and a great team player.
Claire is always smiling and nothing is too much trouble for her. Claire supports her young family and her extended family.
Julie joined us in 2008 and keeps the home up to a fantastic standard. She manages a great team, where all of them have the motto "Nothing is too much trouble for the Residents!". Julie's daugheter Kelly also works with us here at Newington Court as a carer.
My name is Lyn and I have worked here at Newington Court for 3 and a half years. I started as an Activities Coordinator and am now a Carer. I really enjoy my job because it is so rewarding knowing that I make a difference to the lives of the people I care for. Our days are filled with laughter and residents are given the respect and dignity they deserve. The girls I work with are wonderful as well. I love this home so much that two of my children also work here.
