The Manor Care Home in Taunton

Taunton’s The Manor is a modern, purpose-built care home that provides first-class 24-hour nursing and residential care. We offer support to older people, alongside diagnostic treatment and rehabilitative services to a range of younger adults with complex care needs. For example, we support people with tracheostomies who may require mechanical ventilation due to spinal injury, people with neurological conditions, people with sensory impairments, and people with physical disabilities.

The treatment we provide is delivered using care plans tailored to each individual and are regularly reviewed. We liaise with local health services to ensure that the best therapies are available to the people we support, and offer a wide and very popular range of activities.

As with all Barchester homes, we pride ourselves on having high standards of cooking, hospitality and housekeeping. The home is situated in beautiful grounds on the edge of the pretty market town of Taunton. It has easy access to a range of shops, interesting events and strong transport links.

Staff here at The Manor are genuinely committed to supporting residents and their families. We are always happy to offer advice and welcome visitors. Please feel free to ring us or call in personally to see our beautiful home for yourself.

Types of care

The Manor provides person-centred residential and nursing care to residents with a range of medical and mental health conditions. The home has three units that are individually tailored to meet residents needs. Staff have a wide range of experience and qualifications to ensure that residents receive the best care possible and that demonstrates best practice, guidance and support. We have a therapy team who are committed to helping residents maintain as much independence as possible in a way that is unique to them. We have a range of professionals that visit, whether that be in the form of entertainment, rehabilitation, chiropody, hairdressing, or beauty therapy, with goals of increasing the well-being of residents.

Lisa Bale

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, my name is Lisa, and I am part of the activities team here at The Manor. I have worked with Barchester for over 10 years and have previously worked as a Unit Care Coordinator before taking on my current role.

I love coming in to work each day and the variety it brings. I particularly enjoy taking residents out for the day on the minibus; most recently, we have been to the seaside and ten-pin bowling. Having fun and making residents smile makes my job worthwhile and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My love of being with people extends into my personal life and I enjoy cooking for friends and family in between renovating my new house.

I really enjoy the interaction with residents and having banter with them all as I go about the home. I am rewarded when I make a difference to their lives, as such a little thing can make a massive difference to them. In my down time, I enjoy DIY and always have a project on the go.

Rachael Yuill

Care Practitioner

Hi, my name is Rachael, and am a Care Practitioner here at The Manor. I joined Barchester many years ago, back in 2008, when I made a career change from hairdressing. The Manor has become a big part of my life and I enjoy making a difference to the lives of those who live here.

My love of hair and beauty crosses over into my time at The Manor and I enjoy pampering residents - when we look good, we feel good - and I love seeing their confidence grow when I’ve done their hair or make up.

Pursuing the Care Practitioner qualification was a challenge for me and I was delighted to achieve this; I really enjoy the enhanced role I now have, with every day bringing something new.
