Activities at Lethen Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Lethen Park Care Home

Residents realise dream with Porsche Aberdeen
Residents Harry Corsie and Jim Christie, at Lethen Park had always wanted to visit the Aberdeen Porsche garage in Aberdeen, so staff at the home made their wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.
Amanda first found out about Harry’s dream of sitting in a Porsche 911 after a reminiscing session based around cars. Harry had worked in the car industry for over 50 years and was so passionate in his love of cars, ever since then, they have been dedicated to helping make a wish come true! James and Harry are good friends and during the reminiscing session the gentlemen had chatted about buying a Porsche and sharing it, so we decided to help them achieve it!

Exercising the mind, body and soul!
Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Lethen Park Residents took advantage of an exercise class with Amanda and Kailyn and had so much fun, there was lots of laughter too proving your never too old to gain strength!
As part of the homes life enrichment programme, we include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

Bingo Bonanza
Staff and residents joined fellow keen dabbers from over 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Wight, to compete in the biggest game of bingo Barchester has ever seen!
The Barchester Big Bingo Bonanza took place on 26th February 2025 and we got super competitive and took on our sister homes from all over the country to find out which Barchester home or hospital was a dab hand at bingo. It was eyes down for a full house as the homes battled it out to find out who would prevail.
General Manager, Annette said: “We’ve got some real bingo fanatics at our home, we are very competitive - our residents love taking part in anything where winning is involved, you could hear a pin drop in here when we were all playing.”

Random act of kindness
Residents and colleagues of Lethen Park would like to thank two local teenagers, Lucy and Myah for their very special gift to celebrate 'Kindness Day'.
With their own pocket money, the girls brought some freshly baked sweet treats into the home for residents and colleagues to enjoy, and they looked beautiful!
As part of our varied life enrichment programme, we forge links with members of our community, keeping residents connected and we are very proud of where we live. Thank you, Lucy and Myah! We hope to see you soon.

Birthday celebrations
It was double celebrations here at Lethen Park when we celebrated Helen turning 72-years young and Marjory turning 90! It was a fabulous day filled with fun, laughter and rousing renditions of 'Happy Birthday'.
The birthday girls celebrated with their families before enjoying a slice of home-made cake especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.
Happy Birthday, ladies!

Baking!
Francis has had a great activity with the Activities team. Francis has always been a great lover of baking; this is an activity that she often did with her children when they were younger. During this activity, Francis was very interested in all the different types of equipment that was able to be used. Francis and Amanda had a great conversation about how we would spend our free time baking for our families and how the cakes were consumed very quickly before the baker even got to try them.
During this activity, Francis was very engaged and was able to find herself enjoying the company of Amanda and was reminiscing of all her time at the cooker and whisking the cake mixture and adding a little water at a time to get the perfect consistency.
Francis took great pride in telling all the stories about her cakes and enjoying them on family days out with her family.
