Activities at Highfield Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.

I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.

Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Highfield Care Home

Walk through a landscape

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.

Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Remember Remember the 5th of November!

Remember Remember the 5th of November! Gun Powder Treason and Plot!

Our residents enjoyed a hearty dinner of pork pie, mushy peas and mint sauce followed by a spectacular firework display kindly organised by our neighbours in Scarthingwell Park. Our ladies enjoyed lighting a sparkler or two and reminiscing on firework displays and stories of older times.

Keeping the mind active

We support active minds as part of our varied life enrichment programme and our residents love it too!

We have so much fun with our interactive magic table which provides a variety of apps for residents to explore, from interactive games to virtual events and many more. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!

A breath of fresh air

Our home is set in beautiful and tranquil open parkland, overlooking a lake and in close proximity to the historic Roman Catholic Church of Scarthingwell Park.

Our residents enjoy their many walks around the garden and exploring our neighbouring church.

And relax.....

We are very lucky to have multiple spaces to catch up with family and friends or simply relaxing after a busy week.

Our residents settled down in the cinema room, to relax and watch a classic movie with popcorn and refreshments, reminiscing with each other as they discussed their favourite movies.  Can you tell which film we are watching?

,

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again!

We had a showing of 'Mamma Mia' which was the number one choice by all the residents.

Some of the ladies requested Popcorn and Ice Cream while they enjoyed the film. It was a great afternoon, enjoyed by all - and now a Sunday Film Day is going to be a regular theme!
