Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard
Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.
I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.
Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home

Home thank Activities team!
We celebrated National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, with huge thanks to Kim our Activities Coordinator.
Kim shows fantastic dedication in creating beautiful events and tailored activities to match each resident and their needs. This work is often unseen but makes a huge different to the residents living here.
Resident Alasdair said "Kim makes a massive difference and keeps us all in high spirits. A huge thank you for all your efforts"

Big Garden Birdwatch
Binoculars at the ready!! Highfield is known for its beautiful landscaped gardens and countryside surroundings. What better place to take part in the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch?
We have several avid birdwatchers amongst our residents, so we got up bright and early, enjoying the sunshine to see what we could spot...

Burns Night
Residents and colleagues enjoyed celebrating the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns, the author of many Scots poems.
We had the pleasure of listening to the bag pipes, while enjoying a tot of whisky and sampling haggis and neeps and tatties, a Scottish favourite.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves. One resident, Margaret, said "It has been a long while since I enjoyed a tot of Whisky, but I enjoyed myself. The bag pipes were loud but fantastic."

Dancing the morning away!
Moving into 2025, dancing and with a spring in our step!
Our residents love their music and being active, so we had a morning of dancing and making our own music.
Group activities form part of our varied life enrichment programme and keeping fit and active plays an important part of our group activities.

Home shortlisted for prestigious award
Highfield has been shortlisted for a Design Healthcare Award in the Best Exterior Design category. The home has been chosen out of hundreds of other entries from across the entire country.
The design maximises the views of the surrounding rural landscape allowing residents, staff, and visitors to enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather.

Residents enjoy a little pampering session
We've all been feeling under the weather these last couple of weeks, so what is better than a lovely massage? We invited our resident massage therapist, Michelle, over, and she soon had everyone feeling much better.
Michelle normally works mainly from our wellness room. However, today she made resident centred room visits to residents for those who weren't feeling 100%
Thank you so much Michelle Radi you're a superstar!
