Activities at Denmead Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we won’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our activities team is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Lisa Harris

Activities Coordinator

Being Head of life Enrichment isn’t just a job, it’s a passion.

My time with the residents has and will always be an honour and pleasure.

Finding out their interests and hobbies, so I can tailor the weekly planner is such a great thing to do, as this means lots of chats over a good cuppa! But it also means that I can get to know them personally and get to understand a part of their past, so I can continue to help them experience their interests in this next phase of their lives.

A truly rewarding role, where I can be part of and contribute to something meaningful. All I hope for, is to make this journey for both the residents and their families, as restful, easy and enjoyable as possible. Then I know I’ve done my part.

Life at Denmead Grange Care Home

Birds of Prey

We were recently visited by a handful of beautiful birds of prey, who frequented our lounges , communal spaces as well as those who wanted visits to their rooms.

These gorgeous birds drew lots of attention and many of our residents were given the opportunity to hold the birds

Ladies that Latte

Having a natter (and perhaps a gossip) over a coffee is great for the soul! Our Ladies that Latte coffee morning is held in our Bistro area and is enjoyed by many of our residents here, as well as their visiting loved ones.

Home made cake is always a must and luckily our chef creates some fabulous bakes to go along side the company and coffee found here.

Celebrating Elf Day!

Today, our residents got a visit from one of Santa’s Elves, Lloyd! He visited all residents of the home and made them smile and feel festive. In the afternoon, Memory Lane residents enjoyed a Naughty Elf Game where players had to throw baubles into different sized buckets to gain points! Our winners were thrilled with their very own elf head piece and a chocolate elf!

Denmead Brass Performs Christmas Classics

At Denmead Grange Care Home, we have a yearly, traditional visit from our local brass band who play festive Christmas Carols for us to singalong too. Our residents gathered with their relatives and friends to enjoy the evening of music. Our Head of Life Enrichment, Lloyd; prepared delicious hot chocolates topped with fresh whipped cream and crumbled flake to begin the cosy evening.

We hope to continue the tradition for years to come. Thank you to Denmead Brass for giving up your time to entertain our lovely residents for the evening!

He's Behind You!

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the Theatre, watching a performance of the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime at the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth.

The performance was spectacular and our residents were laughing out loud, especially at Dame Nellie's jokes!

Sheila expressed 'It's been so lovely to visit the pantomime again after so many years of absence. I used to go every year with my family so coming back sparks those lovely memories. It's also put me in the Christmas spirit!'
