Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Watercolour Masterclass

Residents of Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View enjoy their creative arts and craft sessions.  These sessions are regularly featured in the homes life enrichment programme.

As the summer comes to an end, residents took advantage of the dry weather to enjoy a watercolour painting session in the homes extensive grounds. The group were inspired by the colours of the season and surrounding landscape.

Exercising the mind

Residents of Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View have been busy exercising their minds.

Residents enjoyed the group activity and feeling good as they exercised their minds and showing their cognitive skills as they separated the shapes before sitting back to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and slice of homemade cake.

,

Outdoor exercises

Residents enjoyed outdoor games and exercises using different materials. It was a very fun and rewarding afternoon, where the group connected and enjoyed of this summer day.

,

World Photography Day

We had a fantastic and fun filled day as we celebrated the “World Photography Day”. We used empty frames, different accessories to capture our photographs using the homes extensive grounds as the backdrop. We then settled back to enjoy refreshing ice-creams, it was a lot of fun, laughter and chatting throughout they day.

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

BHC Care Awards - Divisional Winner

We are proud to announce that Rebecca Barlow has been crowned Carer of the Year for the North Division in this year’s Barchester Care Awards and is through to the national round of judging.

More than 2,950 nominations were received from all Barchester homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Rebecca is over the moon to have been named the winner for the division, beating hundreds of other nominees.

Our divisional winner Rebecca is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided. She will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
