Activities at Arbour Court Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home

Celebrating 25 Years of service

At Arbour Court we are celebrating Julie from our laundry service. Julie has received a prestigious 25 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 25 years. Julie, started at Barchester in 1998 working as a care assistant and eventually went on to work in our laundry service and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. Congratulations Julie from Residents and colleagues at Arbour Court.

Pen Pals

Residents from Arbour Court are pairing up with Hilderstone Hall, a Barchester Care Home based in Stone, Staffordshire to write to each other about their hobbies and day to day life. We hope this will give our residents a sense of belonging and common knowledge with others, to share experiences and interests.

Armchair Aerobics

Here at Arbour Court we have fortnightly sessions with Beth from Disco Fit. Disco Fit provides us with a fun class of armchair dance, music and movement. This keeps our residents active whilst having social interactions and being mentally stimulated. Residents have thoroughly enjoyed the session and there were a lot of laughter and smiles.

Flower Arranging

Residents at Arbour Court celebrated National Flower Day by creating beautiful flower arrangements. Residents had a choice of tulips, carnations, and roses to create beautiful floral creations to mark this national day. Flower Arranging engages residents senses and provides cognitive and sensory stimulation. It also give our residents independence and creative expression.

Pauline's Butterfly Tattoo

Our resident wished for a butterfly tattoo as part of our Wishing Tree. Pauline loves Butterflies and has them all over her bedroom. Our Activity co-ordinator bought Pauline some temporary Butterfly tattoos so Pauline can enjoy a new butterfly tattoo every week. Afterwards, Pauline’s face lit up!

Local Primary School Choir

Local Primary School came in over the festive period to perform for our residents. The residents loved seeing the children and sang along with them. Our Residents become very tearful as they hadn’t seen any school children since lockdown. Afterwards, residents handed out Christmas cards to the children.
