Activities at Windmill Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Celebrating life at Windmill Manor Care Home

Beauty Salon
Flower Arranging with donated flowers from Little Waitrose Oxted
Thank you kindly to Little Waitrose Oxted for donating these beautiful flowers.
Look what the ladies at Windmill Manor Care Home achieved.
The flower arranging class was led by Julie, currently on respite at Windmill Manor, who was previously
a florist. Julie explained to the group where to start when making a bouquet and showed great technique for us to follow.
Julie created a beautiful bouquet with cream roses and then the group created an explosion of colour with their bouquet.
We had a lovely afternoon made possible by the generosity of “Little Waitrose Oxted”
Supercar Saturday at Hever Castle
Resident John, at Windmill Manor previously worked for Aston Martin and the late Sir David Brown in Yorkshire, where John was born.
In 2023 we took John to Supercar Saturday at Hever Castle, where he had a wonderful time looking at all the cars but Aston Martin in particular will always remain a clear favourite for John.
We were fortunate to be able to return to Supercar Saturday again this year, and John’s dream really did come true!
John got to sit in the brand new DB12 Volante, and was overjoyed with this opportunity.
In response to his wonderful surprise, John said “It’s my 91st birthday this Thursday and can honestly say this has been one of the best birthdays treat in my life, seeing the first DB built when I was just a lad, to now sitting in the latest model is incredible, I’ve loved every minute of it”.
Flowers donated by Little Waitrose Oxted
Thank you so much Little Waitrose, Oxted for the kind donation of all these beautiful flowers.
The ladies at Windmill Manor Barchester Care Home were absolutely thrilled to each be
Given a vase full of flowers for their rooms, especially residents that are having to stay in bed for health reasons.
It was so lovely to bring memories of the garden inside for them to see and smell.
Family Summer BBQ
What lovely afternoon we all had at the Windmill Manor Family Summer BBQ!
Perfect weather, delicious food and drinks by Head Chef Maggie and second Chef Rob, entertainment was brilliant BY “Barry Stevens” who is loved by all at Windmill Manor, and a big “Thank You” to all our staff working on the day for joining in and making our BBQ special.
It was a really lovely day with happy memories made.
Titsey Foundation Tea Rooms
A lovely afternoon having a delicious cream tea at “Titsey Foundation Tea Rooms”
The views are magnificent overlooking the fields of cattle, fresh air, a real countryside experience.
Warm freshly baked scones that crumbled when touched served with fresh clotted cream and homemade jam was a real treat, followed by glorious lemon cake and mince puffs accompanied by tea or coffee.
The ladies from Windmill Manor Care Home all agreed, even though they all love watching Wimbledon, it was really nice
to get away for a couple of hours to such a picturesque place and enjoy some real traditionally baked scones and cakes.
It's a Goal!!
The staff of Windmill Manor continued to Get Barchester Moving with “It’s a Goal”.
Two teams of female staff members went head-to-head to see who could score the most goals whilst keeping on the MOVE and continue raising money for Barchester Foundation.
Fantastic afternoon with gorgeous weather, the supporters gathered in the garden to cheer on the chosen team.
Whispering Willows V Memory Madams.
It went to a shoot-out where the Memory Madams nailed it with 1 Goal more than the opponents to take the prize.
All staff enjoyed having fun and all agree
EVERYONE’S A WINNER AT WINDMILL MANOR!
Get Barchester Moving
To help boost the Foundation’s coffers in 2024, on 20th June staff and residents and family, friends and members of the community joined to watch 6 members of our staff take part in an 800 metre track event at Holland Sports, our local club. Everyone came together to Get Moving and helped to raise money for this fantastic cause.
We had the most wonderful day, it was so lovely to see everyone come together to take part and raise such a brilliant amount of money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, it is a great charity that helps many people in need, particularly lonely older people, which is a cause very close to our hearts. Plus it’s good for our own wellbeing to move as much as we can. We want to say massive thanks to everyone involved, we all had so much fun and we helped raise vital funds into the bargain!”
Fiona's Farm Therapy
A unique opportunity to engage with farm animals to increase wellbeing.
The pleasure was all ours when Fiona and her Farm Friends visited Windmill Manor.
I have seen time and time again the benefits that spending time with animals in your environment can bring.
The conclusion is shown in the photographs.
