This is a 5 star care home or home for respite. So beautiful inside the staff are so attentive and are happy to assist you if you need to ask questions about your loved one. Loads of activities and a 3 course lunch and dinner. Free tea coffee and hot chocolate plus homemade cake. Amazing place. Nice big bedrooms. Clean...spotless...

This is a very good care home, very nice inside this too, the staff are very good and looked after my auntie like she was a relative. The manager Gill is extremely good at her job too.

"On arrival I was given such a warm welcome and shown into a lovely room. Since that day I have been impressed with everything and everyone involved in Raleigh Manor. The management and office staff are all friendly and interested in residents. The carer are all excellent and have become friends and so have all housekeeping staff and the activities team. We have excellent food and good maintenance if needed in our rooms."

"It is difficult to put into words the respect and gratitude I have for your staff. My mother was very seriously ill over Christmas and the care and concern shown to her and to our whole family was exemplary. Professionally and personally the attention to detail, calm, compassionate care and good humour gave us a sense of being at home - amongst an extended family. Thank you!"

"My experience of the care home since moving in November 2023 has been very satisfactory. The staff are extremely caring and treat me in a very dignified manner. I am very happy living here. The only concern is at times I feel my room would benefit from a more thorough cleaning at times. Occasionally the food could be warmer and portions a little larger."

"My father has been a resident at Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home for the past six months. He is being extremely well cared for. The staff are extremely professional, friendly, attentive and certainly go the extra mile to ensure his needs are met and that he is well looked after. He loves the daily activities, particularly the general knowledge quizzes. He has a really lovely room and the food (very important for him) is truly outstanding. He celebrated his 100th Birthday this week. The staff at Raleigh Manor went out of their way to make it a truly memorable occasion. They invited representatives from his old WW2 army division and the British Legion to attend and present him with his card from the King. The Salvation Army and a local singer entertained us with his favourite WW2 songs. A truly memorable occasion, one that we will all remember for a long time. It is a great relief for all the family to know that he is in a safe place and is being extremely well looked after."

"Staff and management have been marvellous at such a difficult transition time for us. Both of us have been treated with care and sensitivity at all times. As for the place, we describe it to friends as being as close to a 5* hotel as a dementia ward can get! It’s beautiful, luxurious, clean and homely."

"I arrived at Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. More like a hotel. The interior was equally pleasing - furniture and furnishings. I was welcomed as if I had always resided there. Well cared for during my week of respite care. All the staff were helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. I would certainly go there again if it was necessary to give my daughter/carer a break."

"My husband and I came for respite care of one week. I had a minor spinal op on Friday 30/08/2024 and needed rest and recuperation. We have had wonderful, care, meals and every attention. Nothing really is no trouble, the staff, from top through, are lovely people, well-trained, have a can-do attitude. We returned home rested, just as the doctor ordered. Thank you, we are so grateful."

"Upon arrival, I was shown to my room which was exactly like the rest of the building i.e. very large, really airy and spotlessly clean. Throughout my stay, I found all the staff very friendly whilst being professional and efficient. I also found that the mix of full-time residents and short-term visitors worked for me very well and I was made to feel immediately welcome. I did make the effort to leave my room and use the dining room which was light, bright and convivial. The food was good and varied and I especially enjoyed the cooked breakfast. Despite being a little nervous initially, I was soon really enjoying the many activities which allowed me to sit and chat with other people who obviously had different issues and problems than myself. My respite week genuinely flew by and I was a little sad to leave. I can and will happily recommend your care home. P.S. My absolute favourite thing was the 'help yourself ' cappuccino machine."

"My friend had to give up her home due to age and her memory lapses. Her son-in-law saw the home Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home were doing respite care so managed to get a room with a beautiful view of the estuary. My friend, when she saw the room, was absolutely delighted, she said she would give it a try, well that was nearly twelve months ago and she is still there enjoying her new home, saying it was the best move she had done. The staff are like friends, nothing is ever too much trouble, the food is delicious and on the whole, the home is like living in a hotel, we are all so lucky to have this home, it's like living the high life."

"A friend of mine, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident at Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home for a year now. It has been a real privilege to visit him in such fantastic surroundings. Knowing that the staff and management put their heart and soles into caring for everyone to such high standards. The various rooms and facilities are exceptional in a state-of-the-art building, which enables the care home and team to give its residents the care and support they deserve and require. Everyone goes out of their way to help you! it's lovely there, they're all so friendly and welcoming. The choices for activities and entertainment for the residents are seemingly endless and a lot of effort and thought goes into their weekly planning. Raleigh Manor keeps on surprising. I know my friend enjoys his trips out to various places which they do, he really has discovered a whole new way of life and he is now eating really well and looking better for the whole experience! Thank you Raleigh Manor Care Home."

"I came over to visit my mum who had been very ill. I was very happy with the love and care she was receiving. The staff are all very caring and treat all residents with great respect and dignity. As I was here for a short time, I was very welcomed by all. Overall, I am very pleased with the whole care home. A big thank you to all the staff."

"Amazing welcome by everyone. I left mum in the care of such lovely carers whilst I went on a two week holiday. I was able to relax without worrying about mum which was worth its weight in gold. When I arrived to take mum home, I had plenty of offers to help pack mums case and we received a delightful farewell by everyone."

"My husband spent two weeks at Raleigh Manor receiving respite care. The facilities were excellent, the rooms well appointed, and the meals attractive with a choice of menu. This was his first experience with respite care, and his initial anxiety and reserve were treated with empathy and encouragement. The staff always appeared to be genuinely caring, and I was made welcome when I visited. A range of activities was available for those who wished to take part, and I felt reassured that he was in a safe place for the duration of his visit."

"Raleigh Manor has provided excellent care for my mother who suffers from dementia. She had a trial stay for respite earlier in 2022 and the whole process of admitting her was made so much easier by the professional understanding manner that the Raleigh Team showed. They were very flexible which was wonderful as it was not an easy time. My mother has now lived at Raleigh Manor for over nine months and it was the best decision we made. We feel very relieved and lucky she is looked after by a team of carers that really do seem to care and I can tell they have really got to know and understand my mum. The level of care my mother needs has sadly increased but the team have responded really well. The little touches are valued too - a lovely homemade cake for her birthday for example. The food appears very good and the dining room at lunchtime has a lovely atmosphere. There are more activities running and it's great to see pics on Facebook and get a sense of what is going on!"

"My mother spent four weeks at the home for respite care. The homes facilities were excellent. Rooms were very clean and well equipped. The staff were so polite, supportive and showed genuine care, empathy and respect to my mother and myself. I was made to feel very welcome at every visit. Nothing was too much trouble. The meals showed great variety and looked attractive. Daily activities were offered if you wanted to participate. I felt very reassured leaving my mother in a safe, happy environment. Thank you."

"My grandmother has always been resistant to the idea of moving into a care home. The ideas that they would be like an institution and smell unpleasant were firmly fixed in her mind. We visited many homes but nothing compared to Barchester Raleigh Manor Care Home. The staff made the home the place to go. They were warm, welcoming, friendly and treated my grandmother like the most important person in the world. this one the background of a modern hotel-like building serving delicious freshly made food convinced us this was the place to call home."

"My parents have spent the last 5 weeks at Raleigh Manor Care Home receiving care. We came across Raleigh Manor by accident whilst looking for a modern purpose-built care facility in East Devon. What a blessing it was to find Raleigh Manor, we had found the sanctuary we had been looking for, for our parents. On arrival you are faced with an impressive modern building which only exceeds expectations when you go inside, the look of a 5-star hotel springs to mind. The bright decor, lounges, rooms and facilities are second to none, we have not seen better. All the rooms are well appointed with ensuite wet rooms off wide, open corridors. The kitchen team manage to produce an impressive selection of cooked meal options on a daily menu sheet. But, over and above the building and the rooms are fantastic team. From the top down all the the team are warm, welcoming, friendly, professional and caring, treating our parents like individuals who matter. We cannot rate Raleigh Manor highly enough."

"Following a fall, my elderly mother spent 12 days at Raleigh Manor Care Home as a stepping stone between the hospital and returning home. It was a positive experience. The manager was very helpful with the swift transfer from the hospital. The carers were kind, attentive and encouraging, especially on days Mum wasn't feeling too good. Her room, access to the garden and facilities were first class and all the staff were polite and helpful."

"On the surface, this home is first-class - great facilities, staff etc. However, after spending several hours/days there, found it to be critically under-staffed. Carers were stretched to the limit (sometimes only getting 15-minute breaks for 12-hour shift!) I found I had to be there to ensure Mum ate/drank enough. Residents cannot be given proper care with the current staff/resident ratio. Food quality is disappointing too, despite the menu appearing good."

"Raleigh Manor was originally chosen for respite care following a hospital stay. We chose it without even visiting it as we live so far away. Naturally, we were very concerned as to what it would actually be like. We have been so lucky and cannot rate it highly enough. The transfer from hospital went smoothly and everyone has been so kind and helpful from the cleaners, kitchen staff, carers, handyman and management. Nothing is too much trouble and we all felt that Mum was being well cared for and loved, so much so that she has been there 9 months now. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Raleigh Manor for all that they do for mum and for being there for us too."

"We chose Raleigh Manor for our Mother when her dementia meant that she was no longer coping safely at home. We were impressed by both the staff and the environment and neither let us down. Mum found it difficult to settle, but despite these challenges, we found the hardworking staff found time in their busy schedules to bond with Mum and give her precious moments of contentment in amongst the confusion and distress the illness was causing her. In fact, what is particularly impressive about Raleigh Manor, is that all staff appear to work well together, with a can-do attitude, to create a positive atmosphere that is beneficial to residents and family alike - from the reception staff to admin, housekeeping, management and, of course, the special carers themselves. Mum received end-of-life care in her room at Raleigh Manor, and we will be forever grateful for the fact that she was allowed to die with dignity in her own bed surrounded by people who clearly cared deeply about her."
