What our families say

I want to say a huge thank you to the manager Jane and her team, who have gone above and beyond to help us as a family, my mum was suddenly taken very poorly and we needed urgent care for my Dad, within 24hrs he had a wonderful cosy room, we will always be grateful for the care and understanding of our situation, Braeburn lodge is a beautiful family orientated place, who make you feel very welcome.

This is an amazing nursing home. My brother was resident there for five years and we never had any qualms or concerns about the level of care and attention he received .
He had severe MS and multiple needs - he was always treated with respect and care. His dignity was maintained at all times and the staff were all professional , caring and dedicated - with some lovely touches of humour too.
They took time to know my brother not just as a resident but as a person, an individual with a personality and past.
I cannot thank the staff - all of them - enough for the support they gave to our elderly Mum when she visited my brother and when she had some stays there herself.
My dear brother sadly passed away on the 11th June this year. I cannot praise or thank the team enough for the exemplary care that they showed not only to my brother but also to myself and my wife during the final weeks of my brothers life.
They made him safe, pain free and calm so that he had a good death. They looked after us with tenderness and kindness.
Have no fear about being a resident or a relative - this is a well run , professionally managed caring home.
I thank everyone there for the care they gave.

My dear Grandma has recently become a resident at Braeburn. She had managed to live at home until the ripe old age of 105!
My mum and I her main caregivers/ support.
Over Christmas she became quite poorly and after much thought, moving forward, she agreed that going into a care home would be the best option.
From the initial phone conversation with the manager, her respite care and now her full time care we have nothing but praise for the wonderful individual care and support.
Jane the manager could sense what a difficult, heartbreaking situation we were faced with and her compassion and reassurance during the move was outstanding.
We had a few tears but I have to say , from the first night we all felt a huge sense of relief. We have absolutely no worries about Mama, she’s cared for and so well looked after. Her room is so lovely and slowly she’s adding more of her personality to it.
We can pop and see mama whenever we want, all the staff are very welcoming and approachable.
More often than not one of the carers is sat with mama when we turn up, she’s usually telling them one of her lovely stories,.
There is always something happening in the lodge, visits from school children, yoga, dancing, singing, baking, visits from the therapy pony etc
Mama is a keen scrabble player and was delighted to hear there was a scrabble club!
May I take this opportunity, on behalf of our family, to say a huge thank you to everyone at Braeburn lodge for taking such good care of our most valuable human. You’re all so loving and caring and we are very grateful to each and every one of you.
Keep up the good work x 🫶🏻💕

I have been to Braeburn several times with my stepdaughter during events they have hosted, including trick or treating and fireworks night. It was lovely to see the smile on the resident's faces when meeting all the children. My step daughter really enjoyed speaking to the resident's and participating in the activities available. They even did a colouring competition this year for Halloween, which is great to see they are still engaging with the local community during these challenging times. We look forward to seeing you all in the future.

"My cousin came here in August 2024. I am his next of kin and power of attorney. My cousin is well looked after and has made this his home. He is very happy and enjoys the activities. The staff are very friendly and caring. I am extremely pleased with Braeburn Lodge Care Home."

"My first impression of Braeburn were warm and welcoming. I could see immediately that no expense had been spared regarding furnishing. The whole atmosphere for me spoke of relaxing, don't worry about anything. That feeling has never gone away and I can go home knowing that my dear husband is in good hands and nothing is too much trouble. The carers are all hard working and will do pretty much everything you could want. I admire them all. Yes it is expensive and in my view worth every penny. I can go home after visiting knowing that my husband is in good hands. Thank you all for everything you do."

"A very appealing and modern environment, easy access round the home and garden. Overall very pleased with my dad's respite stay. Maybe communication between the staff could be improved, for example; information given to one shift was not always passed on the the next shift or management. Also there were times when I was visiting - that my dad was left for up to 20 minutes after asking to use the toilet before assistance came."

"We are three daughters who have recently taken difficult decision to move our mother from independent living into care at Braeburn Lodge. Her room is light, with patio doors to the garden and lovely en-suite facilities. The management have facilitated bringing bits of furniture, hanging pictures, photos and making the room personal and familiar. Crucially they welcomed her small, much loved elderly cat as well. She is really enjoying the food. Most important of all, the staff are without exception superb; caring, thorough, reliable and cheerful. She has settled much better than we feared. We visited a number of homes, and chose with great care. The home is expensive but we believe it offers excellent care, and we have peace of mind knowing that mother is content, safe and enjoying high quality care."

"Mum spent two weeks in respite care and thoroughly enjoyed her "holiday". She will be very happy to go again and said she couldn't fault anything or anybody. Everyone was kind, friendly and caring from the nurses and carers, the chef and the cleaners. She enjoyed the food, the company and the high quality. For me it was peace of mind to know that mum was in safe hands and happy whilst I was on holiday."

"My mum went into Braeburn Lodge for respite while I was on holiday for three weeks. She had never been in a home before and I was dreading it as I thought she would not settle. The first couple of days she struggled and they re-assessed the situation and moved her. She then settled in fine and thought she worked there! She was allowed to do her own thing, pottering around and helping the carers in their jobs. She was well cared for and that's all we could ask for."

"This was mums second respite visit and from walking in mum was made to feel welcomed back. Staff remembered her from her previous visit, making mum feel at home straight away. Unfortunately mum caught the sickness bug that was in the home at the time but was looked after properly and with the dignity needed with the "bugs" affect on her. Thank you Braeburn Deeping St James. Mum is looking forward to seeing you all again soon."

"From the initial look around to collecting my mother after her respite care, the whole experience was extremely positive. The attention to detail, the quality of the staff and the whole atmosphere of the Braeburn Lodge left me and my mother feeling that she was in a place of real care and safety. This had not always been the case with previous respite homes. The fact that my mother has been recommending Braeburn Lodge to all her friends is probably the highest praise!"

"Mother was generally well looked after, whilst we were on holiday. The staff welcomed her and made her feel at home and safe. She had been unwell prior to our holiday hence the need for her to stay at Braeburn. She slept well, better than at home and from what we hear joined in with most activities on offer. As discussed with a member of staff minor issues were a choice of food (not always what she liked) and little access to the phone when friends and relatives rang."

"The support and care that we receive from the staff during my father's last days were excellent. We were totally overwhelmed by the depth of feeling that they had for him. Their care and compassion made his passing dignified and relaxed. We could not have asked for better or nicer people to support us and Dad during this time."

"I broke my right hip on Easter Sunday 16.04.2017 and via treatment at various hospitals, I arrived eventually at Braeburn Lodge for a recuperative holiday April - June 2017. During my stay at Braeburn Lodge, I luxuriated in comfort and care. Sadly, like all things pleasant, it must come to an end. I would certainly recommend Braeburn Lodge for comfort and caring - if their needs were similar to my needs."

"My husband has been here since November 2015. It deteriorated from a lovely place for a person with dementia to live in, to a very mediocre and unsatisfactory home. After an interim manager brought it around in the last five months, I no longer worry about out him. The new manager has a great track record of managing local care homes so it has become a lovely place to visit a resident. I am so glad my husband is still there and I love visiting him daily."

"One year ago I wrote an extremely unfavourable review relating to the care of a dear friend. I am happy to report that 9 months on - thanks to an excellent new manager and her permanent successor - a very different experience pertains. The home is now well-led, staff are energised and caring and although there is still some way to go, the daily experience for my elderly friend is now extremely positive and I am once again happy to recommend Barchester dementia/nursing care to anyone with a demanding service user."

All the staff were absolutely brilliant with him and I would recommend this nursing/care home to anyone needing this type of home for future care needs. "Since my Mum has been a resident here she has found a new lease of life. She has participated in the entertainment and other social outings where she had very little to do in her own flat. She looks a lot healthier and happier and has begun to put weight on, due to the very good and healthy fresh food they receive daily. The staff are very friendly and professional and caring to every single resident. Their care is constant and nothing is too much trouble, for which we are very grateful. This is far and away the best care home in our opinion."

"Care in the home is very good and all the carers work very hard. All the carers are patient and kind, but there is a shortage. The home provides different activities each day and residents can choose whether or not to join in. A lot of people come in to entertain residents, including children. There are nice gardens to walk around in - when it is fine."

"I cannot fault the care that Mum has been given since moving into the dementia unit at Braeburn Lodge. Our first visit convinced us that she would be safe, comfortable and well looked after. Mum is treated as an individual but also encouraged to interact with the staff and other residents. She has been out in the mini-bus on several trips and has been promised she can do activities she used to enjoy ie. gardening when the weather improves. Life has not stopped because Mum has dementia and is in a care home. The rooms are clean, the food is good and the staff really do care. I would recommend Braeburn Lodge to anybody."

"My sister has been a resident since January 2016 and we have (my wife and I) always been happy with the care and support provided at Braeburn Lodge. In the past, we always felt the care and facilities were good. However, since the new manager, she has taken the home upwards, to another level of care, compassion and support. My sister's condition has deteriorated considerabley but the care and support provided is exemplary and we can only say "Thank You Braeburn"."

It was necessary to find him a nursing place for his discharge from hospital. The staff at Braeburn Lodge responded swiftly and efficiently and he is well settled. He is cared for at all times with professional and kindly care and I am very happy for him to be there. He has a lovely room and the home is always clean and tidy and comfortable."
