Vitamin D deficiency can lead to serious illness

People with low vitamin D levels are at risk of serious illnesses, according to industry experts.

Andrew Thomas, founder of Better You, explained: "Because you are vitamin D deficient it doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to get such serious diseases but more often than not, these serious diseases are in part, the result of vitamin D deficiency."

Research has proven that vitamin D is vital for good health and can in fact ease symptoms of conditions like multiple sclerosis.

However, those with a vitamin D deficiency can experience severe health complaints.

Taking supplements can help to redress the problem if it is minor. The chief medical officer in the UK in fact recommends that all vulnerable people take vitamin D, including older adults, pregnant women and children under five.

It is estimated that around of 70 per cent of Europeans in fact suffer from low vitamin D levels.
