Rock band help to raise awareness of dementia

One of the most popular British rock bands of the last decade helped to raise awareness of dementia this week when they performed at a charity concert in Belgium.

Muse welcomed the De Betties choir on to the stage to sing with them on the band's latest single Follow Me. The choir is made up almost entirely of people who have been diagnosed with dementia.

The NME reports that the band's drummer, Dom Howard, introduced the choir onto the stage. He said: "We are very proud to have this great choir with us tonight who are going to play a song and they are raising awareness for dementia."

The concert happened in the same week that the Alzheimer's Society helped to launch the Singing for the Brain campaign, which aims to stimulate the minds of people with dementia by getting them to sing. The initiative also has the social benefit of bringing people with dementia together in a friendly environment.
