Bailey our Therapy Dog

Every week, Bailey pads through our doors with his wagging tail, gentle nature, and that special kind of magic only a therapy dog can bring. He has a way of brightening the room, softening worries, and creating moments of pure comfort for our residents.

This month, we’re excited to celebrate Pet Therapy Day here at Chestnut Gardens. On Tuesday 28th April @ 11.30am, Bailey’s owner, Brian, will be joining us to share a heart‑warming talk about the incredible work Bailey does. Sharing why pet therapy is such an important part of wellbeing in care homes.

From calming companionship to sparking memories and conversation, Bailey reminds us that sometimes the smallest paws make the biggest impact

The Amazing Team Bayleaf

Our amazing staff have taken part in a sponsored fun run to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

The Huntingdon 5k Inflatable Run took place at Huntingdon Racecourse on Saturday 11th April and after weeks of preparation and training, the team lead by our brilliant manager, Katie passed the challenge with flying colours.

There was a lot of fun and laughter and the team were, rightly, so proud of their achievement.

Happy National Gardening Day! How Does Your Garden Grow

To celebrate National Garden Day, our residents enjoyed a wonderful social time together getting their hands in the soil, planting flowers, a little weeding and sharing gardening memories. At Glebefields we know that life enrichment activities like this, not only brighten our outdoor spaces, but also boost wellbeing, spark conversation, and bring smiles all around.

We also had some indoor potting plants that could be done at the height of the table to be inclusive to everyone not able to participate in the actually planting in the garden, it’s been a lovely day filled with fresh air, laughter, and a touch of nature’s magic and the residents, staff and visitors will enjoy watching the flowers bloom and spread throughout the summer months.

National Gardening Day

Yesterday was National Gardening Day, which coincided nicely with the latest edition of our Gardening Club. It was a little chillier and windier than we have been used to lately but that did not stop Kath and Margaret from braving the elements and doing a phenomenal job potting and planting in the raised flower beds.

This is an on-going project which we are very much excited to see blossom and bloom (puns intended) into something special and we will keep you updated as our garden becomes more colourful over the next few months.

First bit of sunshine!

Table Tennis Challenge

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone!

Today, one of our lovely residents took on our activities coordinator Molly in a fun game of table tennis – and it was smiles all round! From quick rallies to plenty of laughs, it was a fantastic way to stay active and bring everyone together.

They say the best things come in pairs!

This afternoon, David and Jim (aka David Clinch and Friends) joined residents, families, friends, and staff in the lounge for an afternoon of poetry, story-telling, singing, music and jovial jokes. The atmosphere is best described as mellow, free from harshness or high energy intensity, making for an ideal tranquil setting. The entertainment was soft, slow tempo, and the relaxing sounds calmed everyone; easy on the ears.

David Clinch, “We love performing at Tyspane Care Home, the residents are wonderful, it is a pleasure.”

Thank you, David and Jim, you are two exceptional gentlemen who have volunteered at Tyspane Care Home for over twenty years.
