Activities at Washington Grange Care Home

Our group and individual activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for. We try to organise a mix of activities and events that reflect the interests and capabilities of residents for anyone and everyone to participate in. Our evenings of afternoon entertainment is enjoyed by residents and their families, who are all encouraged to sing along and dance. We try to involve our local community; members of the clergy often visit to hold lovely afternoon church services for residents. It is essential that our team are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those we support through person-centred activities, and that everyone has a fun and active time here at Washington Grange.

Life at Washington Grange Care Home

Reminiscing in the bistro

Residents of Washington Grange enjoyed a reminiscence session over afternoon tea, the homes hospitality team whipped up a delicious spread with everyone enjoying the treats.  It was a busy day sharing stories with each other.

Dominoes

Residents enjoy a game of dominos at Washington Grange as part of their popular games afternoons. A number of residents at Washington Grange had a great time playing a game of dominos with each other and squeezed in a quick natter and a cuppa in between games.  Everyone had fun as they showed a little friendly competition each game!

Keeping the mind active

Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Washington Grange.   Residents took advantage of the wet weather to enjoy a games afternoon, playing old favourites!  What was your favourite childhood game?

As part of the homes life enrichment programme, we include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

London 'Herstory'

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

National Ice Cream Day

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a sing-along to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

Little Movers

Residents enjoy storytelling and play with visiting children from local nurseries and we were delighted to welcome back our friends from, Little Movers. It was an actioned packed morning of laughter, fun and games!  Residents and colleagues join in with singing songs, playing games, having a cup of tea and most importantly have cuddles with the small children and these popular visits bring smiles to everyone and brings residents together in the lounge.
