Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Resurrection Gardens

In addition to potting plants and starting work on the garden (as seen in previous post), residents Freda and Susan put on their creative hats as they set about designing some lovely Resurrection Gardens.

Combining floristry, gardening and art, the team created a lovely display piece, bringing new variations of life into Holy Week.

Having this mini garden on display was an excellent way to lead us into Communion, given to us by members of ReBorne Church, Sherborne, bringing us all some spiritual activity ready for Easter Weekend.

From all of us at Trinity Manor we hope you have a blessed Good Friday!

Easter Gardening

As the Spring weather comes to town, our focus at Trinity Manor returns to the gardening club...

Topping the agenda was a trip into town to collect some flowers and bulbs ready to plant.

Keen residents, Ann and Freda, joined Head of Maintenance, Phil, and Activities Coordinator, Laura, to select the plants they wanted to see in the garden and around the grounds.

Having bought the necessary items, the work continued in the home. Joined by the lovely Pat, the team set about potting the plants and embedding some flowers with some very promising early results! Let's see what we can accomplish in the Garden this year!

Comic Relief & Red Nose Day 2023

This time our residents opted for red wigs as we geared up to watch the telethon. The day is a special event organised by the charity Comic Relief which was started in 1985 to raise money by making people laugh.

It helps people struggling with money here in the UK and in other countries, as well as helping with disasters like the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

St Patricks Day

As the England vs Ireland rivalry heats up ahead of this year’s Six Nations match, we are all smiles as we delved into the prop box.

After learning about the history behind this Saints day in a lunchtime quiz, the afternoon brought some Guinness tasting and costuming. For the lucky few, a pot of gold!!!

Knowledge is Power

We welcomed Craig Hardaker, of Communifit , to come a teach our residents about the ageing process and physical changes as the human body gets older. At first glance, the title seems like a foreboding warning, but this was far from the case!

Craig was so energetic in teaching us how the future lays in all of our hands, and there is a lot of reason for hopefulness and optimism in staying as independent as possible for as long as possible. Using his own family as inspiration, Craig showed us how a potentially taboo, drab and uninspiring ageing can be manipulated into a situation of hope and prosperity, with just a few simple steps - particularly spending a bit of time every day doing something active. A little exercise, performed often, can lead to slowing down the physical effects of ageing dramatically.

Simple Sherry

In a recent post about our visit to Majestic Wines, we mentioned receiving a wonderful gift from the store.

Well it didn't take long for the bottle to be opened as our ladies indulged in a glass before their mealtime.

Thank you again to Gregory and Amanda at Majestic Wines for our gift!
