Activities at Threshfield Court Care Home

Here at Threshfield Court, we aim to tailor the activities to meet the needs of individual residents, the communities within the home and the home as a whole. We have regular, structured activities such as visits from Music for Health, specialist armchair exercise facilitators, local musicians and a growing team of volunteers, including our local clergy. We also have time for arts and crafts, all sorts of games, music, poetry and lots more. We are pretty good at being spontaneous too!

Home supports local charity

On Thursday 29th June, staff and Resident’s from Threshfield Court Nursing Home hopped on the minibus and took a short ride down to the local Morrison’s in Skipton where the Parkinson’s Society Group was doing a local fundraiser.

We have a resident here at Threshfield Court which is supported by the Skipton and District Parkinson’s Support Group, with monthly newsletter and magazines. We had a lovely chat with the ladies sharing stories.

A Visit from Zoolab!

On Friday 16th June the residents of Threshfield Court were visited by Harri, and his weird and wonderful creatures.

It was a most enjoyable afternoon as the residents were a little sceptical as to what to expect. The gentleman that came was very kind and helpful towards each resident, and his knowledge of the animals was incredible.

The residents had so much fun be able to touch most of the animals he brought with him.

We had a snake, rats, scorpion, frog, stick insects,

It was a fabulous afternoon..

On Monday 19th June 2023 Threshfield Court held our first Knit and Natter Group.  We were joined by some of the local ladies from the community. Terry Whittam, our Administrator ran the session. She taught us how to patchwork. It was a lovely morning, all our residents got to know the local ladies. We enjoy rea and cakes afterwards.

RAF Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Virtual event with Art Historian

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

Coronation virtual talk

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
