Dementia Care
'Memory Lane' utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia are offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.
Our approach to care is based on careful assessments leading to a personalised and regularly reviewed care plan. Drawn up with the individual concerned and with relatives the care plan provides the basis for medical and rehabilitative work, making sure that dietary needs and preferences are met and the basis for our activities work, which we see as the heart of what we do - to keep up to date with our latest activities and events, please keep popping back to our website to see what we have been up to and what is coming up.
From the minute you enter Southerndown, you will feel the warmth radiating from the caring and homely atmosphere we provide. We want everyone who comes to stay or visit to have a wonderful, memorable experience.

Hi, my name is Rosalynn, and I am the General Manager here at Southerndown Care Home. Welcome to our website!
I joined the team in May 2021 after working as the Registered nurse and Deputy Manager in our homes in Tewkesbury – Gloucestershire. I am passionate about supporting the elderly through life enrichment and the provision of person cantered care.
I am strong advocate for the provision of dignity in care at all stages of life. I believe we can all learn something new each day and should always strive for excellence in all we do; to keep improving and evolving.
I am always available to discuss the care and best practice we provide.
