What our families say

"The standard of love and care our friends receive in Queens Court is excellent. Every single member of staff we came in contact with are friendly and helpful. I recently went through the care plans. I was very impressed with the detailed reports that are kept. Our friends have been residents since 2017. The quality of their lives has been transformed. We always leave them with a smile on our faces as we know they are safe and happy."

"Excellent once again. Saw residents using the magic table and staff enjoying interacting with them. Pet therapy dog was also present. Very happy atmosphere but staff also well focussed on resident's needs. I did have a complaint about financial administration which lead to an investigation and was resolved but I never received the outcome from head office as I should have done. The complaint was not against the general manager, who is quite excellent."

"Excellent care over last six months. Visited last week and saw Magic Table in action with staff interacting very constructively with residents. A good informal atmosphere but staff always focused on patient's needs. I did have concerns re financial administration over the failure to collect FNC payments and deduct them from fees (which were no fault of the general manager) which were investigated and the problem resolved but I was never provided by head office with any feedback as I should have been. I think Barchester should consider introducing some sort of advisory service or at least links to where advice can be obtained. As a court of protection deputy and lawyer, but relative (so unpaid) I find many of the tasks extremely time-consuming, if not confusing - i.e. how to apply for FNC payments/ how to complete forms for OPG, etc."

"I find the staff all very kind, caring and good with patients. Nice rooms, i.e. the bedroom is a good size. Very nice common parts. My friend was given a very nice birthday party at which the nurses participated - singing Happy Birthday to the patient."

"Focused care at all levels from general admin to personal care. The nurses all smile."

"Very good. My father is very happy with the care. The staff are kind and sympathetic. The food is good. The turnover is low (but obviously there is a turnover in this sector). We very much value the "homeliness" and the fact that the manager does not segregate by degree of dementia (barring eating times)."

"My father has been extremely well looked after during his six weeks at Queens Court. He was very reluctant to go into a home, but the management and staff made him very welcome. The constant care and attention have actually improved his overall alertness during his stay. Whilst he is glad to be returning home, he has enjoyed his time in Queens Court."

"My mother is so happy and settled at Queens Court and she has embraced all the wonderful activities on offer. She is always treated with dignity. The general manager is exemplary and all the staff are extremely caring and compassionate. The home is very clean and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. Queens Court was recommended to me and it has certainly lived up to expectations. I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful place for my mother to live following the death of my father. I would recommend the home without hesitation or reservation."

"Staff very attentive to visitors as well as residents. A nice varied programme of activities and outings. Very important. Very helpful physiotherapy service which encouraged us to additional help on return home. Pleasant environment. Trains a trifle noisy. Thank you."

"While looking for a care home for an elderly friend who was no longer able to look after himself, Queens Court was recommended. As I live too far away to visit, with fingers crossed I had to trust in the recommendation. Four weeks later when I did visit, I was truly amazed at the quality of care, the standard of living conditions and cleanliness. The decor is also beautiful. Room doors are left open so residents can be seen. There are numerous staff who are around at all times, nurses, carers and cleaners who are all caring, friendly and welcoming. Staying for lunch on two occasions, the dining room and kitchen staff also have the same standards and the food is top class. The difference this home has made to my friend is unbelievable, he has gone from being very down and unable to walk, to slowly getting back on his feet and the outings they go on has definitely put a smile back on his face. Knowing he is safe and well cared for is a huge relief. Thank you Queens Court from both of us."

"Living 3,000 miles away from my sister, her only family member still living, it is difficult to express how hard it is only seeing her once or twice a year. Ever since we chose to place her in Queens Court care, I have not had one day of worry about her well-being, comfort or understanding given her difficult-to-diagnose dementia. We Skype every other week thanks to a cheerful carer put in charge of the tablet and although my sister can no longer speak, just seeing her looking groomed and relaxed, a gleam of recognition in her eye when she sees my face, means everything to me. I love that unlike the first assisted care home she went to, I see the same staff every time I visit, which would mean those carers like working at Queens Court. Despite those 3,000 miles, I am not a stranger to them, which is incredibly reassuring. In my opinion, the home deserves every award it garners!"

"The staff at Queens Court Care Home made my mother's transition from home to care home effortless and seamless. They treated her with dignity and respect and afforded her space to settle. There was little fuss but genuine warmth. Always smiles welcomed me, the anxious daughter on every visit and both my mother and I have experienced nothing but efficient kindliness."

"My friend is a proud, independent individual who has found it very difficult to accept his increasing reliance on others. The staff have recognised this and have consistently treated him with understanding and dignity. He is also difficult to look after medically and the staff have been very good at giving medication and allowing for his disabilities."

"My uncle came to stay at Queens Court at very short notice for a period of respite care. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated and he has remained there for considerably longer than anticipated. I cannot praise the staff and home highly enough. The manager is the epitome of professionalism and the charge nurse is excellent in his approach with a very ill and irascible resident. Queens Court is excellent."

"Queens Court Care Home is a very well run care home with a friendly and extremely helpful staff that help my mum in whatever way is needed. The food is of a very high standard and the menu is rotated and varied throughout the week. The homes minibus is a great asset for residents taking regular trips and the social diary is always full."

"Lovely care home, with fantastic staff - all very friendly and efficient. Taking very good care of my father who has dementia but is enjoying the environment and the many stimulating activities on offer here. Fantastic food served in a lovely dining room. Lovely clean rooms and a great deal of personal attention. I would highly recommend this care home."

"Excellent atmosphere; the home is clean but not over-formal; staff are forthcoming and caring, involved with residents. The resident obviously has an excellent relationship with care staff and especially the nurse. Although she presents some challenging behaviour, this is well managed. The home keeps closely in touch with me. A very thorough care plan is in place and regularly reviewed."

"Mother is staying here in respite care after breaking her lower femur. I have been hugely impressed by the caring concern shown by the staff, almost all of whom seem to be really committed to the cause and genuinely concerned about the patients' welfare. There is a good vibe, good spirit within the home. Maybe the staffing in late evening could be increased - those on duty are heroic. Care is the primary objective."

"We found our friend dressed and clean at 10.00am. We have, in the past, attended activities with him and we thought they were excellent. The point about treating the residents with dignity, even for our friend who barely conscious most of the time. The staff are all very good on this point."

"My friend's final weeks were spent in this excellent home. He was cared for to the highest standards in a very pleasant room. The atmosphere of the home was welcoming and pleasant and spotlessly clean. The two head nurses were caring and highly competent, both being readily available in different circumstances. The management of the home was first class and visitors were given every consideration."

"My mother has settled in extremely well at Queens Court and seems perfectly happy here. She is well looked after, well-fed and enjoys the atmosphere and activities. Whenever I visit, I find her sitting in the communal area and she obviously benefits from contact with the other residents. The staff are always very friendly and helpful."

"Whenever I visit my Godmother, I get a warm welcome from the staff and tea or coffee and biscuits and cake arrive promptly. Now that my Godmother is unable to see clearly all the staff take this into account and are helpful. Occasionally the hot is not hot which is a shame and the food is very good."

"I always think that it is not just one person who is the carer for the day looking after you but to the members of staff also. There is a routine and those foremost that keep my room clean and tidy. Importantly too, there are activities to join. So together with food nicely cooked and presented must make for a care home to be recommended."

"The various times I have visited I have noticed the very good care that my sister and brother-in-law have received from the staff. The residence is kept very clean and tidy and the meals have been excellent. Very good quality of care much to be recommended."

"I visit once every few weeks to share time with my good friend. Usually, I attend the music therapy day and join him for lunch. I always receive a warm welcome. The staff are friendly and now recognise me. I also talk to them about my friend and they come across as friends and are attentive to his needs and difficulties. In the summer it is nice to sit together in the garden. I always look forward to my visits and enjoy them."

"My mother has been at Queens Court for almost 18 months, and in that time her health has improved considerably, which must be largely attributable to the excellent care on offer. Almost without exception, the staff are friendly, patient and caring, and seem genuinely to enjoy their work. As a result, residents, for the most part, seem happy too. There's plenty going on during the day, and excellent food. My only criticism would be that some rooms are quite small, but there's not a lot the management can do about that."
John Fcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"The Care Home provides residents with a warm and secure environment in a very dedicated manner. It is well run and individual needs of each resident are attended to with loving care. Meetings are held every three months with the residents, family and friends and relevant staff to discuss any issues in order to improve life in the home. Areas of improvement might include better communication between staff, residents and relatives with regard to management of hospital visits and visits by healthcare professionals, what the responsible person should expect of the care home and what the care home should expect of the responsible person. This might take the form of a leaflet."
Richard Ocarehome.co.uk rating: 4.42 out of 5

"My mother became a resident in May of this year and she is so happy and settled and embracing her new life and all the wonderful activities on offer. The general manager is excellent and the staff are all incredibly caring and compassionate. The home is very clean and the food is good. The atmosphere is incredibly homely and warm and welcoming. "My mother has been in the home for 2 1/2 years now. The Manager is excellent. She employs staff who really care about the residents. The food is good, the variety of activities is excellent. In fact, everything about the home is fantastic. I feel very fortunate to have found the home. My mother could not be happier or better looked after."

"A very well run, kind and caring home. My mother needs full-time care and she is beautifully looked after. Very friendly staff and there is a great buzzy feeling about the home. Lots of activities for those who can join in and outings even if you can no longer participate. Everyone is included. Very clean and it has a happy feel."

"As relatives of a former resident, who sadly passed away in February 2017, we were invited back to a memorial service in his memory, along with other residents' family members. It was very carefully planned with the main focus on happy memories. The home manager, priest, music therapist and volunteers all took part. We were impressed with the new refurbishments which had occurred in the past few months."

"The reception was welcoming and efficient in helping me settle into the room. Timetable and layout were fully explained. Faulty television was quickly replaced. The room is satisfactory but the en-suite is small for accommodating rollator. Caring and catering staff are friendly and considerate at all times."

"My husband benefitted greatly from Queens Court, after having had 12 weeks in hospital. He improved greatly after 2 days, walked unaided within the zimmer frame. The happy atmosphere created by the carers made such a difference and every helper showed care and empathy for each patient. For every resident to go down to the dining room for lunch and supper makes them feel part of the group and gives a feeling of belonging. Also, the various activities were uplifting, especially the music and art therapies."

"I missed my wife very much, but I was made to feel comfortable and not too lonely, and cared for. I understand that occasionally I have to be away from her to give her a rest. I really enjoyed the food. I spent most of my time sitting in the sun and enjoying the pretty garden. I do not think I took part in any activities, as I am not able to remember. My room was near the entrance so I was happy to be there and I did not feel isolated."

I have always found the staff all very pleasant, helpful and always willing to go an extra mile for the person asking. The restaurant is always a pleasant experience with never a meal not liked. "My husband was transferred to Queens Court on 31st October 2016 having been in a home in Beckenham. I had heard of The Barchester Healthcare Group from my sister who's husband had been in a different branch. I am an ex-ward sister and I can not fault this home. The general manager has her finger on the pulse, with extremely high standards of care which passes down throughout the home. My Husband appears to have settled in well and I would certainly recommend this home."

"Queen's Court is comfortable, well run and well staffed. The manager and all staff are friendly and helpful. Care seems to be very good. My wife who has been there for over 12 months says she is very pleased with the care she receives and she likes her room. The activities for residents seem to be many, well run and appropriate. Frankly I am very happy for my wife at Queen's Court."

"My wife has been in Queens Court since Friday thirteenth September (sic!) 2015 when she was transferred from another hospital. "My mother spent a month at the above care home. It was an emergency. Manager came to view my mother at the time living on her own (with a care plan through an agency), my mother was confused incontinent or able to take care of herself and a danger (throwing water over the toaster where the toast caught fire). Nothing but kindness and care throughout her stay at Queens Court wonderful. Mum at 95 this month health improved, gained weight, coherent in speech. Absolutely faultless."
Christine Kcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"Warmly welcomed for my regular monthly visit, I arrived to find Mum being helped with her lunch, as expected. I waited for her in the garden, to which she was brought out when she had finished eating. The food was, as ever, of a very high standard. The garden was ideal for enjoying on a sunny, summer's day: raised beds at eye level, evidently well cared for, and surrounding trees that Mum commented favourably on, several times during the couple of hours that we sat there. A lot of care has clearly been put into the design and maintenance of the garden. Staff were attentive to us both, without being intrusive, throughout my stay (7 hours in all). Mum is steadily becoming more frail and the team have helpfully adapted her routine, to include earlier meals and a regular rest after lunch, which Mum clearly benefits from. During her rest, I was able to have a relaxed, open, informative and helpful discussion about Mum's current and future health and welfare with the manager."

"My mother has lived at Barchester Queens Court since May 2011. Having suffered a severe stroke she has in fact improved in health since then, largely thanks to the excellent care provided her. Barchester Queens Court is very well run. The staff are always smart and helpful. Many activities are arranged for the residents. All efforts are made to entertain and stimulate them. The home is clean and bright. The meals are beautifully prepared and served."

"My cousin was a resident from March 2010 until she died in April 2015. During that time I visited her at least once a week. Since then I have continued to visit and talk to the residents, play or do anything else I can to assist the staff. The staff are very caring and every one is treated with respect and dignity. Nothing is too much trouble for them I would not have any hesitation in recommending Queens Court to anyone."

"My husband enjoyed his 2 weeks respite stay at Barchester Queens Court Care Home and was well looked after. I found the standard of care was high and the facilities were excellent. The staff were kind and patient when they took time to get to know my husband's ways. Of course, there are always a few things that don't quite work as well as at home, but from the first visit, everything went smoothly. The dining arrangements were extremely good and my husband enjoyed his meals very much. He also liked being out in the garden, which is small but nicely planted."

"My dad came to Queen's Court in April after about 3 months in a residential care home, it was clear he needed nursing care, which Queen's Court provides. I am writing this in late August. It has taken my father a long time to settle in, but the care is good. He has a self-contained room. As I write this, he is doubly-incontinent, and cannot walk without falling over. He has been very enthusiastic about the food from the start - which is elegantly served twice a day in the restaurant. It has taken my father a long time to be able to join in group activities, but he seems increasingly able to do so with encouragement. The staff are kind and thoughtful, even on his not-so-well-behaved days. There is a regular programme of activities, and my father is encouraged to join in. Falls continue to occur, if he attempts to walk. He was successfully assessed for continuing care. I visit my father twice a week."

"My dear friend became one of your residents in 2013 after ill health and dementia. I had been her hairdresser for many years. After my salon closed, I went to my friends home to carry on caring for her hair and nails. Barchester Queens Court Care Home kindly agreed I could continue and myself and my friends family wanted this as most of my friends family live overseas. Although my friend's dementia is getting worse, she is so well looked after and the staff care for her and all the residents as well, by always doing a lot of different activities and encouraged everyone who wants to join in. I visit many homes as all of my clients are elderly and Barchester Queens Court Care Home is by far the best."

"Living in the U.S. and being my sister's only close kin, looking for a nursing/care home from so far away was difficult. My sister was in an assisted living facility but was now unable to care for her deteriorating conditions. As soon as we met with the Queens Court management and saw the home, we were impressed. Since moving my sister into Barchester Queens Court Care Home, I have not had one worry about her getting the best of care and that I made the right choice. This is a huge relief for someone who lives 3,000 miles away."
