Activities at Queens Court Care Home

We had such a lovely time taking a walk down memory lane with our residents! 

Using cards from the 1950s and 60s, we sparked some amazing conversations—filled with laughter, stories, and memories. 

It’s always fascinating to hear about the things they used at home back then… items and traditions many of us have never even heard of today! Such a heart-warming way to connect across generations.

We are always delighted to welcome our wonderful community into our home! One of the highlights for our residents is the regular visits from the lovely Big Heart Band, who never fail to lift our spirits with their music. Their concerts are filled with joy, laughter, and lots of singing along!

After the music fades, the warmth continues — we gather over a cup of coffee to chat, share stories, and enjoy each other's company. These moments mean so much to everyone here.

We also love talking about upcoming plans and getting involved in planning together. Whether it’s events, activities, or new ideas, working hand-in-hand with our community brings a sense of purpose and belonging to our home.

Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of our journey. Your presence, support, and smiles make all the difference.         

Arranging flower arrangements, especially in the garden, is one of the many favourite activities of our residents during summer. We regularly arrange arrangements so that our home is always decorated with fresh flowers. 

Every Monday we create new compositions to make our restaurant tables look even nicer.

Our friendly neighbours, Ian and Meg, regularly invite our residents for afternoon tea!

Our residents, Guy and Norma, have many things in common, especially with Ian, who is a painter and loves art just like them.
Chatting together and looking at the paintings that decorate the house is always exciting and enjoyable.

It's great to have a friend so close and just drop in for a cup of tea. 

Queens Court had the honour of hosting Emma de Pfeiffer Key, who is a holistic therapist! Emma told our guests how important it is to take care of their mental well-being and showed us the main nerve points on our hands that we can massage during the day to improve our well-being! 

It was a great conversation. Thank you, Emma! 

Our regular events to which we invite special guests so that they can share their knowledge on how to take care of our physical and mental health.

Our residents had an amazing time visiting the Saatchi Gallery today. Two of our art-loving residents especially enjoyed taking in the beautiful exhibitions, chatting with other visitors, and sharing their thoughts on the pieces.

To top it all off, we headed to Vardo restaurant, where we enjoyed some delicious food – and of course, a perfect slice of tiramisu to end the day on a sweet note! 

Smiles, great conversation, and a whole lot of inspiration – what more could we ask for?

Today, the amazing team at Queens Court pulled off a heartfelt surprise birthday party for our incredible General Manager!

Organised in secret by the staff, this special celebration was our way of saying a big THANK YOU for everything she does.
She is more than just a manager — she's a true leader, a mentor, and a constant source of support and inspiration for us all.

Our general manager, Shaaron Caratella, and the residents visited the local #Waterstones to buy and add more wonderful novels to our library. After successful shopping, relax and enjoy our favourite ice cream at Oddono's Wimbledon! It was a great afternoon.

Residents meet regularly with our manager to spend time together and chat over coffee, where we get to know each other even better and learn about our expectations and wishes.

Our residents were fully prepared for a wonderful project in which they were filmed by professionals from the Wimbledon The Championship, who wanted to show residents of nursing homes being involved in tennis matches!

We are delighted that Queens Court was chosen. Every year our house is fully decorated and for the two weeks of tennis all our TVs are focused on it. For the biggest fans, we organise daily outings to the match on the big screen which is very close to us. 
 

The Queens Court team thanked the volunteers who consistently spend time with our residents. Their interest, skills and availability have enriched the lives of our residents and staff.

We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating National Arts Day with our residents and members of the local community!

A huge thank you to Irene, a talented artist who led a relaxing and inspiring art session. Everyone got involved in creating beautiful autumn-themed cards — and the results were amazing! Art is so important for seniors — it gives them a chance to relax, express themselves, and enjoy something truly meaningful. Today was filled with creativity, laughter, and connection.

Today, we had the privilege of celebrating two incredible milestones here at Queens Court Care Home!  Our dear resident, Richenda, turned a remarkable 100 years young today! 

A century of wisdom, joy, and love, and we are so grateful to be part of her journey. To make this celebration even more special, Richenda’s great-grandchildren, the adorable twin duo, also celebrated their 1st birthday today! 

Double the happiness, double the love!  

We celebrate the worlds we’ve travelled to, the characters we’ve loved, and the stories that have shaped us — one page at a time.

On Book Lovers' Day, we spent a lot of time telling each other stories about our favourite books and authors, as well as reminiscing about our childhood books.

At Queens Court we love books, our book club, trips to the local library which take place regularly. 

It is already our tradition that every year our residents participate in the annual Summer Picnic in our friendly South Park Gardens!

Great live shows, music and many other attractions, we love our local park all year round because it is only 5 minutes from us so we can visit it regularly and admire the wonderful nature there!

Our residents' birthdays at Queens Court are an even more special time for everyone. We contact families in advance and discuss the menu, birthday cake and decorations with the residents.

We want every birthday to be special and memorable for the residents and their family. Every birthday is unique and the residents and their families are happy.
