Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Meadowbeck Care Home
Blue Light Breakfast
Meadowbeck hosted our Blue Light Breakfast as a Thank you to our local and much cherished emergency services, community nurses and our local GP’s to pop along and join us for a free light breakfast with a freshly baked pastry, accompanied with fresh fruit juices and tea or coffee.
It was lovely to welcome our local GP and community nurse who visits the home on a regular basis.
Our “Blue Light Breakfast” mornings are held on the last Monday of the month.
Birthday Treats
At Meadowbeck we believe that every Birthday is important and deserves to be celebrated, making our residents feel special.
Thea had a lovely surprise when Casandra, our Unit manager on Memory Lane turned up to visit her and took her for a shopping trip to Marks and Spencer.
Thea had a lovely day browsing the clothing department where she could treat herself, stopping off for delicious coffee and cake at costa coffee and visiting the shambles in the town centre.
Thea had yet another surprise upon returning back to the home as team members presented her with a birthday cake made by our Head Chef Daniel, singing "Happy Birthday".
Thea had a wonderful day!
Master Florist Tutorial
Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!
Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own. Residents truly enjoyed the experience.
Meadowbeck celebrate Valentines Day
Meadowbeck care was filled with flowers, hearts and bunting in celebration of St Valentine’s Day. Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by hanging heart-shaped decorations to decorate the home and gifting each other home-made sweets, cakes and treats, residents were treated to an afternoon of live music with Nigel Heap, singing classic hits and love songs requested by our residents.
General Manager, Annaliza Kemp, said: “We’ve all had a lovely day decorating the home and making gifts for each other and for our loved ones. Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either in person or via video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”
Pancake Day
We were busy celebrating Pancake Day with a variety of delicious pancakes and yummy toppings.
Our residents had a wonderful day, filled with pancake-inspired activities from quizzes, various word puzzles and themed colouring from oomph wellness in the afternoon, for tea they prepared home-made pancakes and decorated them with their preferred tasty toppings of lemon, berries, syrup and chocolate sauce
Chinese New Year
The home was decorated with Chinese lanterns and dragons as we welcomed in the year of the dragon, residents got involved in themed activities and enjoyed an evening of sampling traditional Chinese delicacies prepared by our talented Head Chef, with prawn crackers and fortune cookies.
The Chinese New Year is China’s most important festival that celebrated the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar.
