Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Pump Up the Volume!

Sheila's hearing has been declining recently so, when the Specsavers Team Callum and Hussain visited this week, we tested Sheila's hearing and Specsaver gave her a pair of her very first hearing aids! Sheila thought the test was very easy and simple, and as you can see here, Sheila is wearing headphones while Hussain measures the level of her hearing. These have made such a difference to Sheila's way of life and she told us, "These hearing aid are very comfy, I can hear conversations clearly now with my friends here - I can even hear the paper rustling when I turn the pages of my magazines! We went out on the minibus after I had these fitted, and I could even hear the engine and it's made such a difference !". At Elgar Court, we are always looking for ways to improve the daily lives of our residents, and we are over the moon for Sheila. To register for a Specsavers Home visit, come along to our next event where the team will take your details and do an initial assessment. Our next event is: Wednesday 25th June from 10.30am - 3pm.These hearing aids are free on the NHS!

Happy birthday Susan!

We absolutely love a party at Elgar Court, so it’s a delight to hold a party for a resident’s birthday and their family and friends. For Susann’s birthday luncheon, everyone enjoyed a delicious luncheon including tropical salad with king prawns, rare roasted beef, baked ham and quiches. But the celebration birthday cake Susan’s family had commissioned, was certainly the pièce de resistance! Expertly decorated and crafted in confectioner’s sugar, the detailing from the basket and handles and flowers made this cake a special tribute to mark Susan’s birthday.Happy birthday Susan!

Keeping flexible, to keep mobile!

Our weekly exercise classes focus on different themes, from keeping physically active, building strength, stamina and resilience to this week's class on flexibility.Keeping flexible is just as important as building strength as it helps support our residents' mobility.
