Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Fun with clay

Fun with clay – or to be more technical, Polymer clay. Residents chose the colours and mixed the clays into swirling marble designs. We than used cutters to create earring drops ready to be made into pendants and earrings.

New Friends coffee morning

We like our trips out and about, and this week we visited our Barchester sister home in Worcester, Latimer Court. A spontaneous sing song by one of the resident’s, got everyone one joining in with the fun over drinks and homemade biscuits – divine! We look forward to welcoming you to our home in April. Plus the shortbread biscuits were divine.

Our care is only a heartbeat away!

Heartstart Malvern officially launched this week, their latest life saving device at Elgar Court Care home in a presentation with Christopher Walker from QinetiQ, Heartstart Malvern’s Patron Mrs Lucy Chenevix-Trench, Sarah Cadwallader at Elgar Court  and Richard Vakis-Lowe, the Heartstart Founder.  As a new care home, we are extremely keen to do what we can to be a key support to our local community, and know how important it is to have public access defibrillators available when needed.   The defibrillator is situated at Elgar Court on the external wall by reception, where the AED code will always be accessible to the community.

Café Life - Piano

Tinkling the ivories in our home. Ever one to spot the opportunities on free cycle, our activities co-ordinator put out a call, and the lovely of Worcestershire answered, with the most beautiful piano made in 1903  – who incidentally got it on free cycle too!  All it needs is some fine tuning from our ever talented Maria.

If anyone would like to play a few tunes for our residents, please do contact us.  01684 211720

Easter Egg competition – The Faberge Egg

We don’t do things by halves at Elgar Court. So when the Barchester Easter cake competition was announced, we thought what could be more fitting than to demonstrate our lifestyle at Elgar Court, than a cake in the design of an elegant Faberge egg! Pictured here is the Lillies of the Valley Faberge egg made and decorated by Maria. The original egg is just as exquisite and was given to Tsar Nicholas by Karl Faberge 1898. Fingers crossed we win
