Activities at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular weekly outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including the local theatre and Cathedral's as well as visits from PAT dogs, visiting zoos, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Pizza & Quiz Night that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Community is fun and active.

Jaime Gilbank

Activities Coordinator Lead

I joined the Chorleywood Beaumont team in 2023 an activities coordinator lead. I  have worked in the care sector for over 9 years and I have been a wellbeing Activities lead for over 2 years.  In this time I continue to build a great knowledge of skills and experience in providing and implementing a variety of activities to cater and support for all needs. Suiting each individual, supporting the mind body and soul.  I am passionate about my role here at Chorleywood Beaumont, providing person centred support and  caring for the wellbeing of everyone. I am a people person and I love putting a smile on our resident’s faces. It is so rewarding and makes me happy.

Life at Chorleywood Beaumont Care Home

Fun and games at Chorleywood Beaumont.

A game of bingo is a familiar favourite for everyone at Chorleywood Beaumont. It was eye's down as Residents took part and tried their luck to win some fabulous prizes.

Residents at Chorleywood Beaumont get together daily to play different card and board games in our lovely games room. Scrabble, Rummy Kub and Bridge are firm favorites too.

An afternoon of good company and a glass of sherry or a cuppa, enjoyed by all!

A trip out in our mini bus.

What a glorious way to start the year!

With a lovely trip out in our mini bus to a local garden centre to see all the beautiful flowers and breathe in the fresh air.

No outing would be complete without a trip to the café for a cup of tea and a scone and jam!

We are so happy the weather stayed bright for us too!

A bird in the hand

Residents at Chorleywood Beaumont were delighted to welcome back the beautiful budgies with the team from Performing Pets.

We were lucky to have 9 beautiful budgies come to see us, with their colourful feathers and lots of chirpy chat!

They were a big hit with everyone, brining back many childhood memories and conversations of our own pets.

The experience brought happiness and smiles, and was truly enjoyed by all.

Chorleywood Beaumont welcome's The Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE CStJ

Chorleywood Beaumont was absolutely delighted to welcome The Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE CStJ. Robert was awarded the CBE in 2014 for ‘services to British Industry and voluntary work in the UK and was appointed as The Lord-Lieutenant for Hertfordshire by the Queen in 2017.

The Lord-Lieutenant came to meet residents, including Flora Richards, a resident a Chorleywood Beaumont who recently turned 100.

Flora spoke about her recent trip to Brighton, which Ramona, the General Manager at Chorleywood Beaumont organised for Flora’s birthday and the time Flora served in the Royal Air Force - September 1941 to February 1946.

The Lord-Lieutenant told stories about a recent engagement he attended with King Charles III in Stevenage and the 700 plus invites he receives a year.

The Children from Russel School performed a concert of Christmas songs and Carols.

A wonderful day was had by all.

Baking up a storm.

Today residents gathered together to cook up a storm as Barchester is holding a cake baking competition, so of course our residents wanted to enter.

We weighed out all the ingredients and the residents got to work. It bought back many memories of making  Christmas cakes over the years, the stories were so warming and as usual we had lots of laughs along the way whilst listening to our favourite Christmas songs.

When the ingredients were being mixed together, the smell of 'Christmas' filled the room and we were all getting very excited to get it in the oven.

It turned out amazing and today we fed the cake some brandy as a thank you!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!.
Our residents spent a lovely afternoon decorating the home with Christmas trees and lights and getting our home ready for our countdown to Christmas festivities.

Head of Housekeeping Mira, with her team  worked their magic with Residents and transformed Chorleywood Beaumont to a Christmas wonderland.

Our resident Flora said "It really feels like Christmas once the tree goes up. Now we just have to worry about the mince pies and sherry!".
