Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

Gentlemen's Gathering

We enjoyed our first monthly gentlemen’s trip! We had some delicious lunch at The View in Wootton Wawen. We all had fish and chips (which was amazing) and some of us even had ice-cream! The View has lovely large windows and of course, an amazing view. On the way back we took the scenic route through our beautiful countryside and took a little trip down memory-lane.

Pancake Day

We celebrated Pancake Day here at Cherry Trees! We had great fun participating in Alcester Court Leet’s annual Pancake Day Races. Once the races had finished, we went for a hot drink and slice of cake at Orangemable (Yummy) and enjoyed a little mooch around the shops...

Make a (furry) friend day

We’ve had an extremely busy week here at Cherry Trees! On Friday 11th February we celebrated ‘Make a Friend Day’, so of course we welcomed some of our animal friends into our home! We were joined by the Middle England Farm alpacas. Two alpacas, named Scooby and Percious, went around our home to meet and greet all our lovely residents. We were able to learn so much about the alpacas and their farm, including the number of alpacas the farm has (40!). The beautiful farm, located near Stratford-Upon-Avon, offers alpaca walking experiences, private farm experiences and even a private meerkat experience!

The show must go on!

On Thursday 10th February, we had our first theatre trip of 2022 with us heading out in a (very) full minibus! We had a lovely lunch at ‘The Sly Old Fox’ in Birmingham before heading to The Hippodrome. The group of 10 watched Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker! It was fantastic, although some of us got quite the shock when the Nutcracker first appeared! We had a fabulous day and cannot wait for our next theatre trip very soon.

Valentine's Day at Cherry Trees

This week we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a Valentine’s-themed sensory session on Memory Lane in the morning followed by a crafty session in the afternoon. During this we made our own 3D Valentine’s pop-up cards using Oomph on demand instructions to help us along the way!

We continued our Valentine’s Day celebrations on 15th February with a fabulous afternoon tea party. We had a huge selection of cakes and baked treats to enjoy. We were even joined by Barry Juckes who performed some great songs for us to chew along to! We had a great sing-a-long, dance and had a well-deserved sugar uplift! We hope everyone had a great Valentine’s and we cannot wait for our next musical performance.

Beautiful Flower Arrangements

Residents at Cherry Trees tested their skills of flower arranging. We made some really lovely arrangements, one of which is being displayed in our reception with a special card naming the artist resident. We are really looking forward to the warmer weather and all the lovely flowers which will be on display in our gardens.
