Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

Sweet Scents

The ladies had an afternoon of laughter in the garden room. Lala, Senior Carer on Memory Lane, kindly shared her beautiful lavender from her garden that spread its scent around the home. The ladies made some lovely lavender bags to give to their family members and Jean popped hers under her pillow and informed us it smells beautiful at night.

Congratulations, Agnieszka!

Agnieszka Szalinska Dutkowiak has beaten all the competition to win the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2021 Barchester Care Awards.

Mappleborough Green Garden Centre

Residents had a wonderful time during their trip out to Mappleborough Green Garden Centre on the home's minibus.

Ann and Jean had a lot of fun looking at all the lovely plants and Ann decided to buy some beautiful strawberry plants for her daughter. We also sat for a cuppa with a delicious slice of cake

It’s been lovely getting out and about again on our weekly trips, and we can't wait for the next one.

The Euro's at Cherry Trees

Residents and staff at Cherry Trees care home in Alcester have been cheering on their home sides throughout the Euros. The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past four weeks. Everyone at the home has loved seeing Gareth’s boys progress so far.

Fans of the beautiful game at Cherry Trees were delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures after the disappointment of last year’s tournament having to be postponed. Residents and staff have had a brilliant time getting together to watch the matches and celebrate with a cold beer and footie-inspired bar snacks whipped up by head chef Chris Aston.

Debbie Osborne, General Manager at the home, said: “We have loved watching the Euros, we have watched pretty much all the matches – lots of our residents are footie fans. It has been fantastic to be able to cheer on all the home sides and especially England, we did amazingly well to get to the final.”

Resident, Ann commented: “Although we didn’t win last night it has been a brilliant few weeks of football. The lads did us proud and made it all the way to the final, they played their hearts out. At least we haven’t got long to wait until the World Cup next year!”
