Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ashitha Dinesh

Activities Assistant

Hi, I'm Ashitha, and I'm proud to be part of the team at Glebefields Care Home as an Activities Assistant. I joined the Glebefields family in 2023, having earned my master’s degree in electrical engineering from Coventry University. Despite my engineering background, I bring a fresh perspective to enriching the lives of our residents. I enjoy creating an environment where they can have fun, connect with others, and stay mind active. Together with my co-workers, I'm dedicated to making every moment special for our residents, bringing happiness and meaning to their lives. It's an honour to be part of such a compassionate and dedicated team at Glebefields Care Home.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Glebefields receives 5-star food rating!

There was plenty to celebrate this week at our Glebefields care home as staff and residents came together to mark the home’s latest achievement – a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating awarded by the local authority on 14th May 2025.The achievement is the highest rating a care home can receive from an Environmental Health officer, and shows the home has complied with all the statutory obligations; showing outstanding food hygiene standards.

Benazir Shakkir General Manager at the home, said: ““After an unannounced inspection, we’re delighted to have achieved the highest possible food hygiene rating. It’s a proof to the dedication and standards upheld by Head Chef Bose Jose, Second Chef Vincent Thomas, and the entire Hospitality team. Chef Bose, who joined us in June 2022, brings extensive expertise and a relentless commitment to maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment. Vincent, who also came on board in 2022, has consistently upheld these high standards.” Food hygiene ratings reflect how well a food business handles food, from preparation to storage, as well as cleanliness, kitchen layout, ventilation, and record-keeping.

Pre lunch drinks hit the spot!

Pre-lunch smiles and sips! Our residents regularly come together to enjoy a tipple before Sunday lunch. The order of the day this time was a glass or two of Sherry, an old favourite. The only decision of the day was sweet or dry! A great start to a relaxing, sociable afternoon.

Glebefields celebrates VE Day with music, tea and memories!

At Glebefields Care Home, we marked VE Day with a heartfelt tea party, honouring the heroes of WWII. Our tables were filled with delicious treats - biscuits, sandwiches, cakes, and pastries - lovingly prepared by our amazing chefs, Bose and Vincent.

The true stars of the day were our own residents. Betty, who joined the WRNS at 18, shared her inspiring story from working as an aircraft mechanic to driving ambulances during the war. Her photo proudly hangs in the Fleet Air Arm Museum, and today, we celebrated the living history she holds. Bob filled the room with emotion as he played the National Anthem on his trumpet, with everyone joining in for beloved wartime songs.

A heartfelt thank you to all the families, friends, and staff who joined us. Your presence made the day special. It was a day of joy, remembrance, and deep gratitude. Thank you, Betty. Thank you, Bob. Thank you all. Lest we forget.
