Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Pub Themed Afternoon

Our staff and residents enjoyed a 'Pub' themed afternoon - the bar opened serving a variety of very popular drinks and snacks so everybody was suitably refreshed for the start of the quiz.  We used a combination of oomp quizzes, 60's music and general knowledge, everybody said how much they enjoyed the afternoon and many people were pleasantly surprised by their quiz scores

Afternoon of live music

Another wonderful afternoon of entertainment courtesy of our regular performers, Dark Moon.

The power of music can never be underestimated, so much singing, dancing and laughter enjoyed by all, it's so lovely that our visitors enjoy these performances so much as well, it makes for such a fabulous atmosphere.

Dominos Afternoon

On friday afternoons we enjoy a fun session of dominos. This is such a great activity with each of the players engaging in playful banter throughout leading to lots of laughter and some blossoming friendly rivalries.

A game of Dominos was a great past time to some of our residents to we love to bring back memories by putting on our friday sessions.

Musical Moments

We recently had a fantastic session with our friends from “Musical Moments” where our residents are encouraged to participate by dressing up and playing games that are all themed with the songs being sung.

Our residents had such a good time and it was also nice to see some visitors who also joined in and say what a fantastic time they had had.

The activities really promote conversation, laughter, fun and a real sense of togetherness as we are all singing along together. These really are very special and popular sessions that are enjoyed by all, we would highly recommend Musical Moments, you will not be disappointed.

We never stop learning! Knit & Natter

The members of our knit and natter group are currently making a variety of items for our upcoming Christmas Fayre on the 7th of December 2024, these items include blankets, cardigans, phone/glasses holders and hats and scarves.

Whilst making all of these items our members also continue to make hats for the new-born children of our local hospitals, such a lovely thing to do I’m sure you’ll all agree. During yesterday’s session, one of our staff members, Megan said that she’d love to be able to knit, one of our group members immediately stopped what she was doing and proceeded to teach Megan how to knit.

It was so lovely seeing our group members being so actively engaged in sharing the skills they have learned over the years and pass them onto the younger generation, it was a real privilege to see the pride in their faces as Megan managed a whole row on her own.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!

Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
