Activities at Red Oaks Care Home

We believe in making a difference to the lives of people living here with us and ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of choice and stimulation that is centred around each resident here at Red Oaks. This includes a whole host of varied activities, together with regular trips out around the region, taking full advantage of the home’s minibus. Our aim is to enable each person we support to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they possibly can.

Sue McHoy

Activities Coordinator

My role as activity coordinator at Red Oaks is ensuring that all residents have a full and varied activity program. Using our getting to know me books and knowing our residents backgrounds develop our activity program. Having lived in Henfield for the past 10 years I enjoy assisting residents maintaining and forming new the community connections.

I am passionate about my role, the part is having fun and making people smile.

Easter Arts

This week some of our residents have made a brilliant start at making some decorations for Easter.

One of the benefits of crafting is it gives older adults the ability to be creative. Being involved in arts and craft is proven to improve innovative thinking and can help boost their cognitive health as well.

What a bonus when the end result looks so good.

Training and Upskilling

Here at Red Oaks our staff are constantly upskilling, training and refreshing our skills and training, making sure we are the very best at what we do and are prepared for any emergency.

This week we refreshed our skills at  'First Aid at Work'.  This was a hands on training course and our team thoroughly enjoyed it.

‘George’ was our regional trainers very willing assistant.

Beautiful Bunches of Flowers

Arts and Crafts are very important to us at Red Oaks Care Home. We like to fill our home with  tasteful things we have made just like we have done in the past.

A massive thanks to these lovely ladies , who made a bunch of paper Dahlias and Gerbera , enough to fill our table vases and although they were very fiddly to make ,it made for very enjoyable afternoon .

Red Nose Day

A day of fun and games, organised by Marilou our deputy manager, was enjoyed by all the residents and staff which helped raise a total of £100 for Comic Relief - Red Nose Day.

There were lots of different games for all to enjoy including:- balance the bean bag, skittles, hula hoop, three legged race and the egg and spoon race.

A fabulous red nose cake made by our head Chef Leigh was raffled and all enjoyed the red nose cupcakes that had been made by residents. We had such a brilliant day.  Well done to all.
