David Garland

General Manager

Hi, my name is David and I am the General Manager here at Kirkburn Court. I have worked in the Care Sector for several decades, in a variety of different positions.

I started as a Care Assistant in 1986 and have been involved in the management of care home services since 2009. I joined Barchester Healthcare, here at Kirkburn Court, in June 2015.

The warm welcome I received from the residents, their families and the staff helped me to settle very well into life here as General Manager. I am very passionate about Kirkburn Court being an important part of our local community and I enjoy supporting our residents, their families and my staff team in all aspects of Kirkburn life.

Heather Cameron

Deputy Manager & Clinical Lead

I have worked at Kirkburn Court since 2003. I started as a Staff Nurse and developed my skills to become the Home Trainer, then progressing to Head of Unit on our Memory Lane community, supporting those with a cognitive impairment.

I am now the Deputy Manager & Clinical Lead, overseeing the clinical and care needs of all the residents at Kirkburn Court, ensuring they have quality care delivered.

Susan Simpson

Administrator

I started at Kirkburn Court in 1997 as receptionist and after 5 years applied for the Administrator's position and then worked here as an Administrator for 10 years. I then applied for Regional Support Administrator and carried out this role for a further 4 years before returning to Kirkburn Court as the Administrator. I really enjoy spending time with my family and baking with my granddaughter.

Claire Burden

Activities Coordinator

I began my career with Barchester in December 2017. Having worked within the teaching profession for the preceding 8 years, I feel that I bring a range of transferable skills to the activities team.

I strongly believe that the provision of activities is about so much more than just structured, planned events – capturing and celebrating the little moments in daily life, such as enjoying a chat and a cup of tea together, are equally as important.

Activities, no matter how big or small, should be at the heart of every home and that individuality should be celebrated. In addition, I feel that activities should take a person-centred approach, which is why I enjoy spending time with the residents and learning about their preferences and their history.

My own interests include football, politics, crafting and drinking tea, and I enjoy nothing better than engaging with residents on these topics! I aim to bring energy, a friendly smile and a willing ear to the home each day.

Miroslaw Kowalewski

Head Chef

I began working at Kirkburn Court in 2009. Previous to this I owned a Confectionery business in Peterhead town centre. I enjoy creating a variety of different meals for the residents to enjoy.

Gary Bannerman

I see my role as ensuring our home external and internal areas are maintained to a high standard making sure all our maintenance records are kept up-to-date. I also manage and deal with contractors, creating a clean, safe and welcoming place to live and work for our residents and staff.
