Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Activities Lead
I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition
I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.
I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.
Celebrating life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
Garden rescue
Our residents recently planted sunflower seeds that were growing in our residential garden, shortly after planting we had some building work commence so the area was out of bounds and this coincided with the heatwave and no rain!
As soon as we were able we managed to rescue some rather poorly looking plants and spent the morning giving them some lovely new pots and lots of water. We’re very pleased to announce that the sunflowers are doing really well and we have moved them to an area where we can keep an eye on them.
Our residents have put so much work into creating our lovely garden areas which are enjoyed by everybody, this includes mother nature as we’ve really noticed an increase in birds and butterflies visiting this year.
Loving the warm weather
Our residents recently enjoyed a visit from our local ice cream van, NIC’s Ices, who sell a variety of delicious ice creams and iced lollies. It was such a lovely day and the ice-cream van brought a real sense of nostalgia for many of our residents who shared memories of their own children waiting for it to arrive, having heard it in the distance and the inevitable questions of “how long will it be”, “ where is it now”, “when’s it coming to our house” and many other stories that every parent can relate too, it’s so lovely that just the visit of an ice cream van can trigger so many fond memories and really get people talking.
Surprise for the children!
Our knit and natter group have been very busy making sort toys from pom poms for the children at the local nursery. We can’t wait to see their faces on their next visit. Quite a few of our group initially came just for the natter as arthritis and other conditions made knitting either painful or impossible, so we got our heads together and tried a variety of different wool-based activities and, lo and behold, pom pom animals were created. Our residents were able to use the pom pom makers, which has been so good for their self-confidence, and everybody has a real sense of achievement as the toys look fantastic.
We have a variety of different wool crafts to try in the future. Our residents absolutely love being so creative and our little group of 4 to 5 people now averages 10 to 12 people.

10-Year Long Service celebrated!
Rebecca, a member of the senior care team at Stamford Bridge has received a prestigious 10-Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 10-years.
Rebecca Triffit, now senior carer, started at Barchester in 2015 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Congratulations Rebecca!
Royal Ascot at Stamford Bridge
Some of our ladies had a wonderful day watching the racing, drinking some bubbles and wearing some amazing hats and fascinators. It was such good fun and everybody really enjoyed themselves despite the heat.
None of us had any luck picking a winner, we all managed to finish towards the back in every race but it was such a good laugh and we applauded the horses home as it must have been so hard for them in the heat.
Fun in the sun
We have and are safely enjoying the beautiful weather we are blessed with at the moment and having as many activities outside as we possibly can from flower arranging, pic-nic and walks to the local village. There is absolutely no doubt that the sunshine makes everybody feel so much better and long may it continue.
As some of us have inevitably complained that it’s “too hot” this has led to many of our residents sharing stories of their travels around the world where they have lived or stayed in places with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees! It’s really interesting to hear all of these life experiences that are shared during our activities which makes things even more enjoyable.
The amazing minister
Two of our ladies recently enjoyed a trip to the absolutely stunning Beverley Minster to enjoy an amazing Carol concert and lunch in spectacular surroundings. The Minster was also lovely and cool on what was the hottest day of the year so far!
Not only were we treated to the concert, but had a walk around to see the amazing craftsmanship that has gone into creating such a stunningly beautiful building. The picture just never quite seemed to do it justice.
Our ladies thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we will be returning for the future concerts that the Minster is putting on. We all highly recommend them.
Gardening at Stamford Bridge
We have recently started a new project making a sensory garden in a lovely walled garden space that we are so lucky to have. Our residents are becoming very well-known now at the local garden centre as we’ve spent a fair bit of time (and money) there buying everything we need.
It’s amazing how many people love to garden. We have so many people who are fully involved in the project. It’s at the very early stages, but it’ll soon be a wash of colour and scent. We also have fruit plants for taste and wind chimes and a water feature for sound, it’s already a wonderful place to be.
Tractor Run
What better excuse is there to go to the pub for a pint than to watch the local tractor run?
Three of our gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the glorious sunshine watching the tractor run through the village. They really enjoyed their surprise visit as it was only know about at the very last minute thanks to one of our fabulous care team, who popped in on her day off and offered to take the residents to see it, and, of course, to the pub for a pint.
