Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating life at Port Manor Care Home

Cooking up something special for our four-legged friends!

Cooking has become one of our residents favourite activities lately, and Sharon, our wonderful Head Chef, and Fiona, our fabulous Hostess, were back in the kitchen with a very special mission… making homemade dog biscuits!

Our residents had a fantastic time getting involved, preparing and shaping the biscuits, all while enjoying plenty of laughter and teamwork along the way.

And these aren’t just any biscuits… they’re being made especially for our upcoming Dog Show!

We’ll be selling the freshly made treats at the event, so our furry visitors can enjoy a little something special while supporting our activities.

We can’t wait to see all the wonderful dogs at our Dog Show!

Darts, teamwork and plenty of fun at Port Manor!

At Port Manor, we believe that Life Enrichment is all about making sure our residents have the opportunity to enjoy the things they love, whatever their individual abilities or mobility needs.

Today, some of our residents who simply love playing darts enjoyed a team darts session, with our amazing Activities Helper, Nick, going above and beyond to make sure everyone could get involved and enjoy the game together.

It was wonderful to see the concentration, laughter and team spirit in action. The smiles in these pictures really do say it all!

Thank you, Nick, for always thinking creatively and finding ways to ensure our residents remain at the heart of everything we do. At Port Manor, it’s all about creating meaningful moments, encouraging participation and enriching the lives of those we care for.

And, of course, once the darts were flying, the competitive side soon came out!

An afternoon of words, creativity and a little fun!

There was plenty of concentration, laughter and friendly competition at Port Manor over the weekend with an afternoon of our popular Word Wheel Quiz!

The residents enjoyed putting their knowledge and word skills to the test, working together, sharing ideas and, of course, celebrating those moments when the perfect word was found!

At Barchester Healthcare we know that life enrichment is about so much more than keeping busy. Our activities are designed to encourage meaningful connections, stimulate the mind, support wellbeing and, most importantly, give our residents opportunities to enjoy the things they love and discover something new.

From quizzes and conversation to creativity, music and social activities, our Barchester life enrichment approach celebrates each individual and helps make every day enjoyable and full of possibility.

Exercise For All!

Our residents enjoyed a fantastic fitness session with the wonderful Harley, from Exercise For All

The class was thoughtfully designed for older adults, encouraging gentle movement, improving strength, balance and flexibility, while most importantly, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. Staying active is such an important part of supporting both physical health and emotional wellbeing, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed exercising together in a fun, supportive environment.

A Warm Welcome to Our Wonderful U3A Bridge Friends!

It’s always a pleasure to welcome our lovely friends from the Seaford U3A Bridge Club to Port Manor for their weekly bridge afternoon. Their visits are something we all look forward to, bringing together friendship, laughter and a shared love of the game.

One of our residents, Derenda, is always delighted to take her place at the table. As a passionate bridge player, she thoroughly enjoys the challenge, strategy and friendly competition, and it’s wonderful to see our U3A friends warmly welcoming our residents to join in each week.

At Port Manor, we believe in creating meaningful opportunities to stay connected with our local community. Activities like these not only encourage social interaction and mental stimulation but also help build lasting friendships.

Harvest for All

Our residents had a wonderful morning attending the Harvest for All service at St Peter’s Church in East Blatchington.

It was such a beautiful and welcoming gathering, filled with story, song and community spirit, with some very special guest singers from Seaford Primary School.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the service and spending time together in such a warm and inclusive setting. The morning was made even more enjoyable with refreshments kindly provided by the Forget-me-knot Café.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the morning so special and welcoming. It was wonderful to see our residents enjoying the music, atmosphere and sense of community.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome our lovely new resident, Jennifer, to Port Manor. What better way to start making special memories than by enjoying the sunshine and beautiful Seaford seafront with a wonderful bicycle ride alongside our friends from Cycling Without Age - Seaford Chapter group

A Rose to Remember Our First Year!

Throughout August, we celebrated a very special milestone, Port Manor’s first anniversary! One whole year since we opened our doors and began creating a home filled with friendship, laughter, compassion and wonderful memories.

To bring our anniversary celebrations to a close, we planted a special rose in the grounds as a lasting reminder of our first year.

Our lovely resident Helen, who was one of Port Manor’s very first residents, had the honour of planting the rose, with a helping hand from our General Manager, Nancy. It was such a nice moment to see one of the people who has been part of our journey from the very beginning, help create something that will continue to grow and flourish alongside our home.

Our residents gathered together to share this special occasion, raising a glass to celebrate not only everything we have achieved during our first year, but also the wonderful people who have made Port Manor what it is today.

Over the past year, we have been incredibly proud to build new friendships, partnerships and connections across our local Seaford community. From welcoming local groups and organisations into our home, to getting out and about and becoming part of community life, these relationships have helped make Port Manor a truly connected and vibrant home.

Our first year has been a journey of people, community and belonging, and we couldn’t be prouder of the home we are creating together.

Here’s to Port Manor, our residents, our families, our wonderful team and our fantastic Seaford community, and to many more years of growing together!

An Enchanting Evening of Opera

We enjoyed a magical performance as we welcomed the wonderfully talented soprano Demelza Stafford for a spectacular Evening of Opera.

Residents, their loved ones and members of our local Seaford community came together to experience an unforgettable performance featuring beautiful arias from the world’s most celebrated operas, much-loved songs from the shows and a selection of modern classics. Demelza’s exceptional voice captivated everyone in the room, creating a wonderful atmosphere filled with smiles, applause and treasured moments.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious buffet accompanied by a glass of fizz, providing the perfect opportunity to relax, chat and make new friendships. It was heart warming to see our home buzzing with laughter, conversation and the shared enjoyment that live music brings.

At Port Manor, we believe that bringing people together through meaningful experiences is at the heart of life enrichment, and evenings like this beautifully reflect our whole-home approach and our close connections with the local community.

A huge thank you to Demelza for such a memorable performance, we can’t wait to welcome her back again soon!

Celebrating National Chess Week!

It’s game on here at the home as our resident Paul and our wonderful carer Sarah enjoyed a friendly game of chess together. With both players deep in concentration, every move was carefully considered… although Paul had the advantage of being the experienced chess master!

Paul has been sharing his knowledge with Sarah, patiently teaching her new strategies and techniques along the way. Moments like these are a wonderful example of the meaningful relationships that flourish throughout our home, where residents and team members learn from one another every day.

Chess is much more than a game, it encourages problem solving, concentration and memory, while providing valuable opportunities for conversation, confidence building and social connection. Supporting residents to continue enjoying lifelong hobbies is all part of our person centred, whole home approach to life enrichment here at Port Manor.

Well played to both Paul and Sarah, we can’t wait to see who makes the next winning move

A Lovely Afternoon at South Hill Barn!

We enjoyed a lovely outing to South Hill Barn, taking in a peaceful walk surrounded by beautiful countryside and enjoying the stunning views along the way.

Of course, no outing is complete without a nice cup of tea and a little time to relax and enjoy the scenery!

Chitter Chatter Coffee Club

What a hive of activity our Bistro has been this week! It was wonderful to welcome so many of our lovely Seaford community guests, alongside our wonderful residents, for another morning of coffee, cake, conversation and friendship.

Our weekly Chitter Chatter Coffee Club is becoming a real highlight, bringing people together to enjoy a friendly chat, play games, make new connections and share some lovely moments with us here at Port Manor.

Afternoon of Creativity at Port Manor!

Our budding artists were busy creating some absolute masterpieces, and what a productive afternoon it was.
It was lovely to see everyone getting stuck in, sharing ideas and enjoying the simple pleasure of being creative together. At Port Manor, we believe that every day is an opportunity for our residents to enjoy new experiences, express themselves and make special memories.

A Wonderful Day Out at Drusillas!

Our residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon out yesterday with a visit to the wonderful Drusilla's Park.

From meeting some amazing animals to enjoying a gentle stroll around the beautiful grounds, there were smiles, laughter and plenty of conversations throughout the afternoon

The residents loved seeing the playful monkeys, colourful flamingos and many other fascinating animals, with lots of wonderful memories being shared along the way. Outings like these provide so much more than a change of scenery, they encourage social interaction, stimulate memories and promote wellbeing, all while creating new experiences to treasure.

At Port Manor, we believe in enriching lives through meaningful activities and ensuring our residents remain connected with the local community. It was a lovely afternoon and everyone returned home with happy hearts and lots of stories to tell!

Who says a road trip has to be on four wheels!

Today our wonderful friends from Cycling Without Age, Seaford Chapter Group paid us another visit, giving some of our residents the chance to enjoy a fantastic ride around beautiful Seaford in their specially designed trishaws.

Our resident Margaret was accompanied by Sarah, one of our amazing Carers as they enjoyed the fresh sea air and familiar sights along the way. From waving at passers-by, to reminiscing about treasured memories of Seaford, it was a truly uplifting experience.

Whether it’s providing exceptional care, sharing a conversation, or joining residents on exciting adventures, creating meaningful moments together is at the heart of everything we do.
