Activities at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Courtney Doncaster

Activities Coordinator

My name is Courtney and I am proud to be the Activities Coordinator for Maple Leaf Lodge.

I have worked at Maple Leaf since 2020 and I started as a night carer before taking the opportunity  to lead the activities team. My team and I ensure that the residents enjoy a range of fun and varied activities from outings and external performers to animal therapy and gardening.

We are always open to new ideas so please join us for a chat at any time.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home

Remember, Remember the 5th of November!

Staff and residents celebrated Bonfire Night with a bang this November 5th when they wrapped up warm to gather around to watch a fantastic firework display and enjoy lots of seasonal treats and refreshments.

Bonfire Night commemorates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot when 14 individuals tried to blow up the House of Lords during the state opening of Parliament on November 5th 1605.  Staff and residents made a traditional Guy to burn on the bonfire while the fireworks lit up the night sky.

Musical Performance

A big thankyou to relatives Glen and John who came a long today for a musical performance with the piano and guitar. Lyric sheets were at the ready as the pair began to play a variety of songs effortlessly.

The sweet sounds of the Beatles, Vera Lynn, Glen Campbell and many more filled the room for residents to sing a long too.

Happy Halloween.....

We're thrilled that residents and staff at Maple Leaf Lodge had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween this year! In the morning, the lounge was filled with the sounds of eerie Halloween melodies as our residents gathered for some pumpkin carving fun! They showcased their artistic talents and carved the most amazing and creative designs onto their pumpkins. We then moved on to some spooktacular crafts, making a Halloween wreath and Halloween sun catchers.

Happy Feet!!

We went beyond our grounds and enjoyed a group walk, residents loved being out in a social setting, taking in the fresh air, exercise and our beautiful surroundings.

National Grandparents Day

Yesterday was National Grandparents Day. Our residents, most of which are grandparents and some even great grandparents, always have fascinating stories to tell and have a heart warming background.

To celebrate we thought we would share some with you through ‘These hands’. We hope you find them as interesting as we do.

Virtual afternoon at the theatre

Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
