Activities at Farley Gardens Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating life at Farley Gardens Care Home

A visit to the Farm

A visit to the Farm

Last week, our residents here at Farley Gardens had a wonderful visit to our local pick your own farm for some fruit and vegetable picking!
We had great fun visiting Grays Farm and our residents chose to pick strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb and carrots to enjoy. We were all in agreement that the produce tasted delicious and we will definitely be visiting again!
A trip to Lily Hill Park

A trip to Lily Hill Park

We recently took the residents to visit Lily Hill Park and they had such a wonderful time.
The park is run by Bracknell Forest Council and it is kept beautifully. We explored the area, enjoyed the scenery and most of all, enjoyed each others company!
Lily Hill Park is particularly special to us as we decided to name our Memory Lane community, here at Farley gardens after it. We wanted the name to reflect a local landmark that people love and Lily Hill was it!
Our Boots Memory Box

Our Boots Memory Box

We want to say a huge thank you to Boots UK for sending us this wonderful memory box for our residents, particularly those living with dementia. It is hard to describe in words how incredible the smells, the colours and the feel of things in this box are.
Boots launched the initiative this Dementia Action Week (2025) to spark conversation and rekindle memories for those affected by dementia. To find out more, please look at their website https://www.boots-uk.com/.../caring.../boots-memory-boxes/
We cannot wait to take a deep dive into this box and we are certain it will have a positive effect on our residents.
Our Bluebell Café

Our Bluebell Café

We were absolutely delighted when the staff and children at Plus Three Nurseries agreed to support us with naming our café here at Farley Gardens.
The Principal, Mrs Butler, her team and of course the wonderful children came up with some fabulous options but finally decided on 'Bluebell Café'.
We are delighted with the name, our residents and families love it also and we are so grateful for the support of the nursery. To show our thanks we delivered them an array of delicious snacks for them to enjoy at snack time before the end of term this week which Mrs Butler advised went down a treat!
Farley Gardens is Officially OPEN!

Farley Gardens is Officially OPEN!

Yesterday we held the most fabulous VIP event at the home with our Grand Opening performed by the Worshipful Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell, Councillor Janet Cochrane, in front of invited guests from the local community. Pictured here cutting the ribbon left to right are: Simona Cioinac General Manager, Jo Fitzgerald Regional Director, Pete Calveley CEO, the Worshipful Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell, Councillor Janet Cochrane, Natasha Lazovic COO and Duncan Edwards Managing Director for the South West.
Barchester’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Pete Calveley, and Senior General Manager, Simona Cioinac, hosted the event and invited guests to view the stunning new 62 bed care home, along with its beautiful landscaped gardens, which is now open and welcoming its first residents. The home has been designed with residents’ comfort in mind and the team at Farley Gardens will offer residential support, respite stays and specialised dementia care, all delivered by a dedicated and passionate team of trained professionals.
At Barchester everything revolves around the residents. From the person-centred care, to the dining experience and hospitality which is tailored to residents’ tastes and preferences, and the programme of life enrichment activities which offer choice that supports resident well-being across mind, body and soul. Each resident is an individual, and so too is the care that Barchester provides, and resident choice plays a really big part in that.
Senior General Manager, Simona Cioinac, commented: “We are delighted our home is now open, our residents are at the heart of everything we do at Farley Gardens, and we look forward to welcoming them and their families, and becoming an active part of the local community.
“We take pride in really getting to know each of our residents to provide tailored care and support, ensuring dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life.”
Barchester’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, added: “Farley Gardens is going to be a wonderful home, Simona and her team here will offer personalised care for the people of Bracknell and the surrounding area in this lovely setting. We’re thrilled to add Farley Gardens to our Barchester family of quality care homes and hospitals.”
Paint and Sip - Summer Holiday Edition

Paint and Sip - Summer Holiday Edition

This week, we held a Paint & Sip summer special for children!
It was such a wonderful morning, everyone had their own canvas to paint, some children copied pictures and others used their imagination. We also had our own residents getting creative and doing some painting of their own.
Everyone had a great time, they also got to take their paintings home as a memory of their day!
5 Star Hygiene Rating!

5 Star Hygiene Rating!

We have passed a recent inspection by the Food Standards Agency with 5 Stars, the best possible rating.
The Food Standards Agency visited the home at the end of July and the home was rated 5 Stars with nothing to improve upon.
The report concluded that Farley Gardens provided sufficient evidence of high standards throughout the home and that all staff knew what their individual and team roles were to ensure that the standards were met.
Our General Manager Simona said: “We are delighted that Farley Gardens was rated 5 Stars following the Food Standard Agency’s most recent inspection. The team at Farley Gardens work so hard to ensure the home has the very best hygiene levels so it is wonderful to have everyone’s hard work recognised.”
Our Rainbow Table

Our Rainbow Table

Our Rainbow table is up an running and we are so excited to start using it with our residents. This table is full of wonderful benefits and here are just some of those:
  • Positive effect upon well-being by improving mood, reducing apathy and restlessness, as well as increasing engagement levels especially across the mid-to-late stages of dementia.
  • Increased physical social and cognitive activity.
  • Increased positive emotion and reduction of withdrawn-like symptoms.
An added benefit of our mobile rainbow Table means that our residents can utilise it anywhere in our home; lounges, coffee area, the garden or even bedrooms – the fun will come to them!
Provided to us by The Digital Rainbow Ltd visit their page for more information!
Family & Golf

Family & Golf

Family is everything to us at Farley Gardens, so nothing beats some Father and Son time on a Friday afternoon relaxing and watching The Open.
We are always encouraging our residents to do the things they enjoy the most and when family can be part of these moments it makes them extra special!

Cheese and Prosecco Evening

This evening we hosted a wonderful community event at Farley Gardens before we open our doors on Friday and it was a lovely evening.
We invited our neighbours in to thank them for their patience during the process of the homes build. We wanted to give them a ‘sneak peek’ tour of the home and a chance to talk through questions they had.
It was lovely to meet everyone who attended and we look forward to our relationship here on out!
Great fun at the Garden Centre!

Great fun at the Garden Centre!

This week our residents had a lovely visit to Squire's Garden Centres, where we ambled around soaking up the calming atmosphere.
The residents had requested we come here to choose some more flowers for the gardens, so this is what we did. Of course all good garden centre visits end with tea and cake and this was no different.
Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging

Our residents have been putting their Floristry skills to the test during a fun and hands on flower arranging session!
Our lead activity's co-coordinator Fleur guided our residents through the session however they really took the lead themselves and produced some wonderful displays. It was great to see everyone together and getting involved and they all now have beautiful floral arrangements around the home to admire.
Quiz and Cocktail Evening

Quiz and Cocktail Evening

We had a great time at our very first Quiz and Cocktail evening!
The teams battled it out through 4 rounds however we had a very clear winner in the end with our resident Sylvia and her son making a super quizzing duo.
The top three teams were 'Hector's Team' in 1st place, 'The Girls' in 2nd and 'Me, myself and Simona' in 3rd. Well done everyone what an amazing effort!
We are already looking forward to the next event and hope to see you there. Keep your eye on our page for dates.
