Activities at Cepen Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Celebrating life at Cepen Lodge Care Home
Jessica Fay entertains in the garden
We once again welcomed the talented Jessica Fay with her amazing voice to entertain our residents and staff. We were treated to timeless classics resulting in dancing, singing along and lots of laughter!
Thank you to Jessica and our staff for creating a lovely day in the garden. Here is to many more sunny days.

Tibetan sound therapy
This therapy has become a regular activity for our Memory Lane community. We have immediately seen the benefits that Tibetan sound therapy brings to our residents within the community. The results of these sessions are truly heart-warming. The soothing tones of the singing bowls create a peaceful atmosphere, bringing comfort and stillness.
We are grateful to be able to offer holistic therapies that nurture the mind, body and soul, alongside our more traditional activities.
Hula Starts our Summer Fete Fun!
Dancing, laughter and sunshine -our Caribbean Summer Fete had it all!
Deputy Mayor Matthew Bragg opened our summer fete and we had some fantastic live entertainment from Sahara Sisters Belly Dancing Group, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Residents, families, guests from the local community and our great friends from the Royal British Legion all joined us. Flavour of the day was authentic Pina coladas. We ended the day with a fantastic raffle raising funds for the veterans charity Not Forgotten.
Baking & Gardening with Jenny
Here at Cepen Lodge it’s not just about trips out and entertainers coming into the home. We do extensive in-house activities run by our activities team. Recently, Jenny, one of the activities team, helped residents bake and decorate a cake which they enjoyed with their afternoon drink.
In the afternoon, we followed the baking by potting up plants in the garden. The residents enjoy spending time in our garden, especially in this lovely weather.
Tea and Tour at the Palace
Regular trips to local attractions, areas of natural beauty and other excursions are important parts of our life enrichment program and feature often on our resident-led activity planners.
Today’s trip was very special for two of our ladies who had placed their wish to visit Buckingham Palace!
Getting up bright and early to travel down to London we had a marvellous tour of the palace, a stroll around the grounds and delicious ‘by royal appointment’ Afternoon Tea. Both ladies agreed they had the best day making memories they’ll never forget.
Babies Bring Joyful Smiles
Our FREE to attend intergenerational playgroup at Cepen Lodge care home is held every month and all parents, carers, grandparents and little ones are welcome!
The group features interactive music sessions led by Boogie Beat Music & Movement North Wiltshire and refreshments and healthy snacks are provided by the home.
The group meets in the home's spacious lounge to create a comfortable, safe and engaging environment for all. It's a wonderful intergenerational activity that benefits all involved.

Veterans Welcomed for Breakfast
We had our first Veterans Breakfast today, the chaps loved sharing stories about their time serving for our country and making new friends.
We are looking forward to hosting our next one and welcoming more local veterans and their families on the first Wednesday of every month from 9am to 11am.
The meal is fully complimentary, courtesy of our talented chefs. Simply call to book your place, as we gather together to build friendships across the breakfast table.
Ponies and Prosecco
A wonderful day in the sunshine at our Open Day with Happy Hooves Equine Ltd - Equine Assisted Therapy & Transport. Our residents and guests adored meeting the gorgeous therapy horse 'Vino' for cuddles and kisses today. Vino roamed around the gardens saying hello to everyone before popping inside to visit residents in their rooms and communal areas.
In the afternoon we headed out for prosecco and strawberries in the sun, the perfect way to end a wonderful day!

Pamper sessions and still life
Here at Cepen Lodge it is all about mind, body and soul. We often hold pamper sessions in our in-house salon, where the residents can enjoy foot spas, facials, manicures and hair treatments.
We regularly use our activities room for small group activities such as arts and crafts. We recently held a still life activity session with residents, this time drawing a potted fern plant.
Barchester hydration week
As part of Barchester’s hydration week, our residents enjoyed an activity with one of our chefs, Mark, where they learnt about the importance of keeping hydrated through food and drink.
, they enjoyed making a refreshing fruit salad, enjoying the fruits of their labour afterwards!

Dementia Disco
We hosted our first Dementia friendly disco. Special thanks to Carly for providing the disco. Both staff and residents had a fantastic time dancing to hits from the 70’s, 80’s while re-living the golden age of disco with glowsticks and legwarmers.
We hope for this to become a regular event here at Cepen Lodge, with everyone welcome.

Mini bus trip to Weston-Super-Mare
We took a few of our residents for a trip out on the minibus to one of our nearest seaside towns. It was a typically British day to visit the seaside!
Nonetheless, it did not deter our intrepid residents from enjoying ice creams on the front.
Avebury to Stonehenge hike
To round off a busy month at Cepen, Jade and some of her team completed the Avebury to Stonehenge hike. Raising money for Alzheimer’s Support – the local Dementia support group here in Wiltshire. The team accomplished an astounding 27 miles through challenging terrain, battling nature (wind, rain and occasional sun.)
A special thank you to our support driver and motivator Kevin, who regularly gives up his Saturdays to ferry us around. We couldn’t continue to come up with mad fundraising ideas without him. Along with our sense of pride, there are many aching joints and a few blisters to say the least.
Well done to everyone involved!
Dog Show
We had a great day today at our annual dog show raising money for Dogs Trust.
A huge thank you to everyone who came and entered their dog into our classes. Our residents had a lovely time meeting everyone and, as always, we had a great turn out (and weather!).
VE Day anniversary celebrations at Cepen Lodge
We had a wonderful time celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day in true Cepen style.
We first had a 1940s-themed best-dressed competition amongst the staff, followed by a garden party with entertainment by the fabulous D-Day Dollies.
