Activities at Canmore Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a variety of events as well as offering tailored programmes to stimulate residents both mentally and physically. There are regular outings in the minibus to local places of interest, such as trips to the beach for ice cream, pub visits for a pint, and regular trips to Dobbies for tea and cakes. Georgie Girl, an old English sheep dog, also stops by the home on regular basis for pet therapy. Musical entertainment is a big hit with residents as well, so we book fan favourites to come and play at the home each month. At Canmore, relatives are always encouraged to join in on the fun too.

The prestigious awards aim to shine a light on the stars of social care, paying tribute to the workforce, who through dedication and a commitment to care, go above and beyond to support those who are most vulnerable. Jane Aitken, Senior General Manager, for Canmore Lodge said: “I know how I feel about my team however it is great for them to receive recognition for all they do for our residents and me. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with an excellent team who allow me to be inspired daily. I am so proud of them to make it to the finals and delighted to be a finalist with them.”

The rich history of coronations

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

Our residents enjoyed making Easter chicks, attending a church service, hot cross buns; a special visit from the Nursery where Residents judged the Easter bonnet competition. As always, we’ve had an amazing time.

Cycling at Canmore Lodge

Residents at Canmore Lodge have been back out in the glen for some fresh air and fun on wheels. Cycling without age is a great community service that brings the Global Trishaw movement to Dunfermline's Pittencreiff Park. At Canmore Lodge we are happy to be booked back up for the spring months ahead and residents cannot wait to get back out on their next cycle.
