Activities at Bedewell Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Donna Brooks

Activities Coordinator

My Name is Donna. I am the activities co-ordinator at Bedewell Grange care home Hebburn. I joined Bedewell Grange in April 2022 and I bring lots of new exciting ideas to the role, having worked in the health and social care sector for the last 15 years. I am passionate about my role within the home and aim to bring a smile to all our residents faces through different types of activities. My personality is bright and bubbly so aim to share this each day at work. I have experience in supporting our residents who are more able as well as doing sensory Namaste sessions with our residents who are less able. As I gather the residents likes and dislikes if you would like to come and chat with me about your family member please contact the home to arrange.

Family Fun Day

Family Fun Day

Residents and staff at Bedewell Grange welcome relatives and the local community to join in the fun at their annual summer fete that was held at the home in August.

The home hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including Flash – the magician, live music and sing along from Robyn and her Ukulele. We also a clay modelling session from Linsey from hen power.

We also had stalls from VP scent, Party Parlour and   Crafty Mademoiselle., which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

We had a lovely afternoon tea on Sunday 4th August at our Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party. Family and residents chatted and enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea made by our wonderful kitchen staff. It’s so important for our residents and their families to share special moments and make new memories together.

Mocktails in the Sun

Mocktails in the Sun

We have been enjoying the beautiful weather here at Bedewell Grange by hosting some of our activities outside.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our mocktail making class; we blended strawberries, blueberries and mint, and then we added our favourite fruit juices and lemonade to make our very own bespoke delicious mocktails!

We reminisced about our favourite holidays in the sun, and enjoyed an afternoon of chatting and singing our favourite songs.

A lovely afternoon was had by all!

Creative Baking

Creative Baking

It’s been another fun packed week for the residence at Bedewell Grange: from balloon tennis, chair aerobics to cookery and veggie art!

Residents thoroughly enjoyed making their own lemon drizzle cupcakes, which were especially prepared for their afternoon tea.

Jill the activities coordinator commented “Residents felt very proud of themselves and their delicious creations! It’s so important for our residence to still feel a sense of independence and achievement in their lives with us at Bedewell Grange. - Well done everyone!”

Arts and Crafts , Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts

It’s been a busy week for Residents at Bedewell Grange from Wimbledon, baking, ten-pin bowling to arts and crafts. Residents joined together over morning coffee and cake for a creative craft session at the home.

The craft session was hosted by Jill, Activities Coordinator and everyone added their own creative input and designs to the colourful morning. The colourful creations are now displayed proudly in the home’s conservatory for all their guests to see and admire. It was such a lovely way to spend the day.
