Activities at Bayleaf Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Sophie Matthews
Activities Coordinator
Hello, my name is Sophie and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Bayleaf.
I have worked as an Activities Coordinator for the past 2 years and each day I feel so motivated to create a meaningful memory for ever single resident. Wellbeing is a vital part or delivering the best care to our residents.
My role is about nurturing connections, supporting hobbies and the ability to try something new. It’s important to still do things that are important to the individual and feel fulfilled at the end of the day.
Celebrating life at Bayleaf Care Home
A memorable afternoon
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday when we were joined by our friends from our sister home, Hilton Park Care Home.
It was wonderful to see residents from both homes sitting together, chatting, and sharing plenty of laughter over hot drinks and delicious snacks from the kitchen. We ended the afternoon with a fun resident quiz before saying our farewells.
A big thank you to Jen and Lily at Hilton Park for bringing your brilliant residents. We truly enjoyed the visit and very much look forward to seeing you all again soon.
A fabulous afternoon with Raw Divas
We were delighted to be joined by the phenomenal Raw Divas for a truly nostalgic musical trip down memory lane. Our residents – and staff! – were in fine voice, singing along and showing off some impressive dance moves as the Divas treated us to a fantastic set of classic hits, along with a few modern favourites.
Music plays such an important part in daily life here at Bayleaf, and today was no exception. The joy, laughter, and energy in the room were infectious. We’re already looking forward to welcoming the Raw Divas back to the home very soon!
A Day at the Races
Katie, our General Manager, was kindly invited to attend the recent Community Raceday at Huntingdon Racecourse by Karl from Huntingdonshire NOSTALGIA Trust for an afternoon of Horseracing and Networking.
Bayleaf also had the privilege of co-sponsoring the third race of the event along with one of the racehorses for the race and we are very pleased to say that our horse, Pic Roc, won the 'Diversity Jobsgroup with Bayleaf Care Home - Beginners Steeple Chase'.
It was a brilliant afternoon and we would like to thank everybody involved in giving us the opportunity to attend
We are now looking forward to going again with but this time with some of our residents.

Local MP visits Bayleaf Care Home
We were delighted to welcome MP Ben Obese-Jecty to Bayleaf Care Home for a visit. Our General Manager, Katie Wilkinson, gave him a full tour of the home and its fantastic facilities — including our cinema room, spa baths, café, and private dining area.
During his visit, Ben took the time to speak with both residents and staff, learning more about life at Bayleaf and the exceptional care we provide.
We’re very much looking forward to building a strong working partnership with Ben to continue supporting our local community.
Singing for the soul
This week we welcomed KJ and the Catt to perform for us all at Bayleaf. Who doesn't love to sing a long and have a dance! smiles all around as they sang our favourite tunes of the past. Feet were tapping and arms waving, we cannot wait to welcome them back.

Baking for Children in Need
We celebrated BBC Children in Need on Friday at the home.
Our Pudsey Bear — lovingly named Bailey by our resident Andy — was the star of the day.
A huge thank you to our wonderful team for embracing the pyjama theme and helping make the day so special, and to everyone who came along and donated to such an amazing cause.
A special thank you also to the catering team for the amazing cakes and biscuits that they made for us all.
Together, we’re making a difference!
Remembrance Tea Party
Games Day at Bayleaf
It was Games Day yesterday for the residents at Bayleaf. Joyce tested her accuracy with a variety of target games, whilst Maureen and Sue challenged one another in a tactical puzzle game that put their problem-solving skills to the test.
This was all followed by a well-earned hot drink and a freshly prepared snack from the kitchen team.
A trip to the Theatre
On Saturday, we took a short trip to Papworth Village Hall to enjoy the Music Halls annual performance. It was the very first time we’ve been able to take our residents to a theatre show — and it’s safe to say it certainly won’t be the last!
Everyone had a wonderful time filled with laughter, music, and great company. We’re already looking forward to our next outing!
Team Garden
This week we asked all of our green fingered residents to help in the selection of plants for the front of our home! Having a very hot summer has taken the colour out of our plants. They all voted for yellow to bring back some brightness and hopefully encourage the sun to come back out! Thank you to everyone who was involved, including the team at Godmanchester community plant nursery and cafe!

Let's hear it for Sally
It’s our favourite time of the month!
This month’s Employee of the Month goes to our fabulous Sally, as voted for by our residents, relatives, and families.
Sally always goes the extra mile and never fails to make us all smile. Thank you for your hard work, kindness, and commitment — every home needs a Sally, and we’re incredibly lucky to have you as part of our team.
Keep up the amazing work, Sally — we’re all so proud of you!
Remembrance Sunday
A day to reflect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice — and those who returned but never forgot.
We stood proudly together with our local community today. It was an honour and a privilege to pay our respects.
Lest we forget.
Open Day at Bayleaf
On Saturday we opened our doors to the public for our Autumn Open Day.
The residents had a wonderful time enjoying all the activities including live music and plenty of camaraderie amongst the team.
We followed this up with a French-themed day which was full of fun and flavour and to top it all off, we raised funds for charity thanks to the amazing efforts of our amazing personal trainer, Liam.
A great day at Bayleaf.
Team Building
Team members had a splashing time at the Huntingdon River this week for some team building. Paddle board racing and fun in the canoes. We even had a tour of the boats, we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep and look forward to next summer having fun by the water with our residents.

Housekeeping week
This week we are celebrating Housekeeping week. We say a huge thank you to our behind the scenes hero's! Our Housekeeping team do an amazing job everyday to make sure our home is clean and smelling fresh. As well as helping our residents ensure their laundry taken care of and are on hand to help out as we support our whole home approach. Great work ladies a big thank you from us all.
