Activities at Bayleaf Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

A memorable afternoon
We teamed up with Huntingdonshire NOSTALGIA Trust yesterday for a very rewarding and humbling afternoon visiting the children's ward at Hinchingbrooke Hospital NHS to bring presents for the children and a very specially homemade cake for the amazing staff.
We then went next door to the MacMillan Woodlands Centre where we also had a cake for the equally amazing staff, which was very well received and appreciated.
We would like to wish everybody at Hinchingbrooke and The Woodlands a very Merry Christmas.
A very special Nativity Play
We've had the best possible time here at Bayleaf thanks to the children and staff at The Anchor Day Nursery and Pre-School in Kings Ripton as they came to the home to perform their nativity play.
The residents were absolutely captivated throughout the performance and there was lots of laughter, cheering and even some happy tears!! The residents then enjoyed spending time with the children after the play, listening to what they wanted to Christmas and finding out if they have sent their letters to Father Christmas.
A special thank you to Jo and Katie from The Anchor for giving our residents such a memorable experience. We can't wait to welcome you all back to Bayleaf!!
Wreath making workshop
Christmas is most definitely coming to Bayleaf.
We asked the residents what they would like to do to add their own touch to the festive feel around the home and it was a unanimous decision that they would all like to make some wreaths so went out and got all the materials we needed and the residents did the rest!!
The result was some truly stunning wreaths which are now pride of place throughout the home.
Keep an eye out for them when you are next visiting your loved one.
National Christmas Jumper Day
The residents and staff have well and truly stepped up with the Christmas outfits for our very first Christmas Jumper Day here at Bayleaf.
We all agreed that the 'Best Dressed' award this year goes to Clive for his amazing Christmas T-Shirt and Santa Hat combo!!!!
Katie also organised a special Pizza Lunch for all of the staff as a little way of saying thank you for all of their hard work, which was very much appreciated
We are now looking forward to a special Christmas Carol performance this afternoon.

Georgie's Best
It’s our favourite time of the month.
Employee of the month is our amazing carer Georgie.
Georgie has been nominated by residents, relatives and other team members, she was presented her award by our lovely Maureen, reasons behind the nominations are “ she drops everything at last minute even on her days off she always helps us , she goes above and beyond for everyone “
Massive congratulations well deserved!!
Resident Christmas Party
We had a fabulous time at Bayleaf this weekend with our very first resident Christmas Party.
We were joined by the brilliant RAW Theatre Productions who entertained everybody with her mixture of Christmas Classics and all-time favourites. There was lots of singing, dancing and foot-tapping.
The residents were treated to homemade treats and refreshments courtesy of the kitchen team and then some of the residents went to the lounge to sing some traditional Christmas Carols.
We really are getting into the Christmas Spirit and cannot wait for the big day.
Pamper Day
Fitness Friday at Bayleaf
Fitness Friday at Bayleaf never fails to inspire us all.
Once again we were joined by Liam Rushmer PT for a morning of activities. After some light chair exercises, the residents were only too happy to engage in a competitive game of balloon tennis.
There was a lot of laughter throughout the room and the residents showed a very impressive set of skills.
We ended the morning with a well earned hot drink and a snack and we are already looking forward to seeing Liam and the team again.

Christmas Fayre 2025
We had an amazing day on Saturday when we held our first ever Christmas Fayre at Bayleaf.
There were all kinds of stalls on offer manned by volunteers, friends and family and lots of local stall holders came along to sell their wares too. There was also live music, reindeer and a special visit from Father Christmas himself!
From all of us at Bayleaf Care Home we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either manned a stall, donated a raffle prize or who came along to support the home. There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the home and everybody left afterwards knowing that they had had a great time.
Joyce's Christmas Concert visit
We had a special treat for our wonderful Joyce yesterday as we took her to the St Ives Corn Exchange for the Riverport Singers Christmas Concert dress rehearsal.
Prior to coming to Bayleaf, Joyce has always enjoyed attending singing groups so this was a very exciting event for us to attend. Joyce was welcomed as soon as we arrived and we were given front row seats.
It was a beautiful concert and we left feeling very nostalgic and very much in the Christmas spirit.
A big thank you to all involved. This was something we will remember for a long time.
Christmas Carols at Bayleaf
We had a very special afternoon on Thursday as we were joined by the excellent choir from Huntingdon Primary School for a beautiful carol performance.
The residents were absolutely transfixed and were full of voice, joining the pupils in singing some all-time classics along with some catchy new Christmas songs.
It was a truly memorable afternoon and we very much look forward to welcoming the choir back to Bayleaf in the very near future.

A culinary experience
We were joined on Wednesday evening by Huntingdon East Councillor Mark Fearon for a very special evening. Mark was the winner of a recent competition for a 'Three Course Meal for Two' experience at Bayleaf Care Home so Mark, along with his wife Catherine, came to the home for a evening of fine dining.
The meal, prepared by our skilled kitchen team, consisted of a starter of either Cream of Tomato Soup with Garlic Croutons or Brie with Toasted Bread with Salad followed by a main course of Roast Pork Belly served with Creamy Potato Mash, Honey Glazed Carrots, Spinach and Sautéed Mushrooms. The dessert was a Lemon Pie served with Homemade Ice-Cream.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and an event that we hope to repeat in the very near future.
Thank you to Mark and Catherine. We hope you enjoyed your Bayleaf culinary experience.
Fun and friendship at Bayleaf
Hilton Park residents enjoyed a wonderful visit to our sister home, Barchester – Bayleaf Care Home, for a fun quiz afternoon. It was fantastic to see residents and staff from both homes taking part in the activities.
A huge thank-you goes to Katie, the General Manager, for leading the quiz and offering such a warm welcome (along with some delightful treats), and to Denis, their HSA, for providing a lovely tour of their beautiful home.
Deck the Halls
Christmas has officially arrived at Bayleaf!!
The residents and staff have been busy putting the final touches to the Christmas Tree and making sure that all of the decorations are put up throughout the home.
There have been lots of smiles and laughter as we have gone the extra mile to make our first Christmas at Bayleaf a very special one for everybody.
We just need to make sure that we all stay on Santa's good list now!!!
