Activities at Bayleaf Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Celebrating life at Bayleaf Care Home
A Day at the Races
Katie, our General Manager, was kindly invited to attend the recent Community Raceday at Huntingdon Racecourse by Karl from Huntingdonshire NOSTALGIA Trust for an afternoon of Horseracing and Networking.
Bayleaf also had the privilege of co-sponsoring the third race of the event along with one of the racehorses for the race and we are very pleased to say that our horse, Pic Roc, won the 'Diversity Jobsgroup with Bayleaf Care Home - Beginners Steeple Chase'.
It was a brilliant afternoon and we would like to thank everybody involved in giving us the opportunity to attend
We are now looking forward to going again with but this time with some of our residents.

Local MP visits Bayleaf Care Home
We were delighted to welcome MP Ben Obese-Jecty to Bayleaf Care Home for a visit. Our General Manager, Katie Wilkinson, gave him a full tour of the home and its fantastic facilities — including our cinema room, spa baths, café, and private dining area.
During his visit, Ben took the time to speak with both residents and staff, learning more about life at Bayleaf and the exceptional care we provide.
We’re very much looking forward to building a strong working partnership with Ben to continue supporting our local community.
Singing for the soul
This week we welcomed KJ and the Catt to perform for us all at Bayleaf. Who doesn't love to sing a long and have a dance! smiles all around as they sang our favourite tunes of the past. Feet were tapping and arms waving, we cannot wait to welcome them back.
Out for lunch
Residents all voted for lunch out and the chosen favourite was Fish and Chips! Rumbles in St Ives did not disappoint! We all commented on the generous portion sizes and all gave it a good go! Everyone has decided that a monthly outing for lunch is what they would like to do. I wonder what will get the next vote!
Summer Fete Success
We all had a fantastic time at our very first Summer Fete. Residents chose a Wild West theme! we had live music by the amazing RAW Diva's singing everyone's favourite country and western songs. We even did a bit of line dancing. We welcomed stalls from the community. The Ice Cream van was still a firm favourite despite the weather! We was even joined by a very special guest the Mayor of Huntingdon. A big thank you to all of our Residents, families and members of the community that helped make our first fete one to remember.
Games Day at Bayleaf
It was Games Day yesterday for the residents at Bayleaf. Joyce tested her accuracy with a variety of target games, whilst Maureen and Sue challenged one another in a tactical puzzle game that put their problem-solving skills to the test.
This was all followed by a well-earned hot drink and a freshly prepared snack from the kitchen team.
A trip to the Theatre
On Saturday, we took a short trip to Papworth Village Hall to enjoy the Music Halls annual performance. It was the very first time we’ve been able to take our residents to a theatre show — and it’s safe to say it certainly won’t be the last!
Everyone had a wonderful time filled with laughter, music, and great company. We’re already looking forward to our next outing!
Team Garden
This week we asked all of our green fingered residents to help in the selection of plants for the front of our home! Having a very hot summer has taken the colour out of our plants. They all voted for yellow to bring back some brightness and hopefully encourage the sun to come back out! Thank you to everyone who was involved, including the team at Godmanchester community plant nursery and cafe!
Birthday Celebrations
Another first for Bayleaf! A birthday party!! Wishing this very special lady the happiest of birthdays it was a privilege to host a party for you and your loved ones today. We hope you have enjoyed your special day!
Visit from Petting Zoo
Who doesn't love a visit from the animals! we have had a visit from an amazing petting zoo they bought a variety of animals from chickens, lizards, dogs and cats! Michelle told us lots of interesting facts about all of her animals. they were all very well behaved! a firm favourite was certainly Doris the chicken! we cannot wait to welcome them all back later in the year!
Open Day at Bayleaf
On Saturday we opened our doors to the public for our Autumn Open Day.
The residents had a wonderful time enjoying all the activities including live music and plenty of camaraderie amongst the team.
We followed this up with a French-themed day which was full of fun and flavour and to top it all off, we raised funds for charity thanks to the amazing efforts of our amazing personal trainer, Liam.
A great day at Bayleaf.
Team Building
Team members had a splashing time at the Huntingdon River this week for some team building. Paddle board racing and fun in the canoes. We even had a tour of the boats, we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep and look forward to next summer having fun by the water with our residents.

Housekeeping week
This week we are celebrating Housekeeping week. We say a huge thank you to our behind the scenes hero's! Our Housekeeping team do an amazing job everyday to make sure our home is clean and smelling fresh. As well as helping our residents ensure their laundry taken care of and are on hand to help out as we support our whole home approach. Great work ladies a big thank you from us all.
Ferry Meadows Adventure
Sundays are getting know for our day for an adventure! Residents had originally planned to go to the beach however with the British weather not on our side Ferry Meadows was voted as the next best thing! Having our very own Mini bus means we really go can anywhere! We enjoyed a lovely walk around the water feeding some swans, before finding the perfect spot to eat our picnic which had been lovingly prepared for us by the chefs! of course an outings is not complete with getting an ice cream to finish off the day! wonder where next weeks adventure will be

Getting Creative
Today we have been joined by the amazing Jenni from Creative Mojo Cambridge and Peterborough for our first Arts and Crafts session. We have made some beautiful flowers, and have made a lovely quote which we have displayed in the lounge on Alconbury Avenue for everyone to see. Everyone is very much looking forward to jenni's next visit.
