Activities at Bayleaf Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

A day-trip to St Ives

A day-trip to St Ives

We love nothing more than an outing on the minibus so when some of our residents said that they would like to go to St Ives we were more than happy to oblige.

Valerie, Andy and John had a lovely time walking along the Great River Ouse and crossing the famous Chapel Bridge before stopping to feed the pigeons and ducks.

The day ended with a well-earned coffee and hot drink before we boarded the minibus to go back to the home.

That's Magic!!!

That's Magic!!!

We had a new visitor to Bayleaf yesterday when we were joined by Magician, Chris Wolff, for an afternoon of tricks and sorcery.

With a variety of impressive and mind-blowing card tricks, Chris had every single resident completely spellbound and by the time he had finished we had a number of residents wondering how they could join the 'Magic Circle'.

It was a great first impression from Chris and we very much look forward to welcoming Chris back to Bayleaf very soon.
St Patricks Day

St Patricks Day

We celebrated St Patricks Day in style yesterday at Bayleaf.

Our private dining suite was decorated with Irish tricolour flags and bunting ready for our St Patricks Day Party. The residents had a great time listening to traditional Irish music and sharing snacks and drinks together.

As our only Irish resident, Mary was especially proud to see the home displaying the colours that mean so much to her.

Another wonderful afternoon at Bayleaf
Boots 'n' Strings entertain our residents

Boots 'n' Strings entertain our residents

We had an afternoon full of music at Bayleaf yesterday as we were joined by Boots 'n' Strings for a special rendition of classic songs from yesteryear.

Our friends from our sister home, Hampton Grove were also here and it was heart-warming to see the residents from both homes singing and dancing together.

We love the events that bring our homes together and look forward to welcoming Hampton Grove and Boots 'n' Strings back to Bayleaf in the very near future.
Flower Arranging at Bayleaf

Flower Arranging at Bayleaf

We have been at our creative best at Bayleaf today as we sat in the bistro lounge and did some very special flower arranging.

Margaret and Sue were very keen to make sure that their creations were as perfect as can be and they certainly did not disappoint.

We now have some beautiful floral displays throughout the home for everybody to see.
Easter fun at Bayleaf

Easter fun at Bayleaf

Our first Easter at Bayleaf was a very memorable day for all of our residents.

The day started with our very own Frederick who entertained the residents with his gospel songs. This was followed by the highlight of the day as each of the residents received their own Easter Egg, courtesy of our Easter Bunnies (Kay and Georgie).

The residents had a lovely time and we hope that they have enjoyed their eggs.
Getting creative with Cards

Getting creative with Cards

The creative juices were flowing again at Bayleaf as we were joined William Peacock & Sons Funeral Directors who had kindly offered to come and make a variety of different cards with our residents and visitors.
It was a lovely afternoon and the end result was some very special creations with all of the participants were very proud of and they cannot wait to send them out to their loved ones.
Mothers Day celebrations

Mothers Day celebrations

We had a simply wonderful day at Bayleaf yesterday as we celebrated our fabulous Mothers on Mothering Sunday.
All of our ladies were presented with a stunning bouquet of flowers before being being joined by their families for a very special meal expertly prepared by our head chef, Stephane.
We were then joined by the amazing Tahlia, who sang beautifully for our residents whilst also engaging with our residents' families including the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was an afternoon for all of the generations.
Happy Birthday Mary

Happy Birthday Mary

The resident birthdays are coming thick and fast at Bayleaf and yesterday it was our Resident Ambassador, Mary, who celebrated her big day.

There was a steady flow of visitors throughout the day for Mary and her room is now full of the most beautiful flowers.

As a home we made sure that Mary had a very special mealtime and presented her with presents and a homemade Birthday Cake, courtesy of head chef, Stephane.

Happy Birthday Mary, we hope you had the most amazing day.
World Book Day

World Book Day

We have had a lovely intergenerational time at Bayleaf as we were joined by St John's CE Primary School, Huntingdon for an extra special storytelling afternoon to celebrate World Book Day.

The residents listened intently as the pupils shared their favourite stories before they shared some of their own stories with the children.

We finished the afternoon with freshly prepared refreshments and then the children said their goodbyes before heading back to the school.

A memorable afternoon and we cannot wait to welcome the school back to Bayleaf in the very near future.
The Big Bayleaf Easter Egg Hunt

The Big Bayleaf Easter Egg Hunt

Get ready for the 'Big Bayleaf Easter Egg Hunt'

Over the past few days we have been busy placing our colourful plastic eggs in various locations throughout Huntingdon.

If you are lucky enough to find one of the eggs, all you need to do is bring the egg, along with the message inside the egg, back to Bayleaf Care Home and you can then claim your free prize (the clue is in the picture!!!).

Happy hunting everybody!!!!!!
Fun in the Sun

Fun in the Sun

It was fun in the sun all day yesterday at Bayleaf.

We made the most of the warm spring sunshine with an impromptu morning spent in the gardens of the home. The residents were invited to pull up a chair and enjoy the unmistakeable feeling of sunshine on their faces whilst the staff provided drinks and refreshments. Some of the residents also helped head gardener, Mark Olivier, adding some colour to the gardens with an array of flowers and potted plants

After lunch we were back outside, this time for a French themed afternoon. We had some delicious snacks and drinks and the residents enjoyed testing their skills with some French language games and quizzes. This was a blast from the past for most of the residents who had learnt French at school and dug deep in the memory banks to remember what they had learnt.

A lovely day with lovely weather and, most importantly, lovely residents!!
Ten-Pin Bowling fun

Ten-Pin Bowling fun

Yesterday we took three of our lovely gentlemen residents out for a fantastic afternoon of Tenpin Bowling. The lanes were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and even a few impressive strikes.

It was a wonderful opportunity to stay active, have fun, and create some great memories together. We’re so proud of our residents for getting stuck in and showing off their bowling skills.

Andy, John and Clive all agreed that is was a brilliant day out!!

Bingo Night

Bingo Night

Our ever popular Bingo Night took place on Friday and was a great success.

As well as our residents, we also had a large number of visitors (including our youngest visitor to date at 3 months old) eager to play and see what they could win.

The atmosphere was lively and everybody had a great night.

We look forward to seeing you all again next month for what will be another special event at Bayleaf.
A trip to Hinchingbrooke Country Park

A trip to Hinchingbrooke Country Park

We are very fortunate to have a lot of areas of natural beauty and yesterday we ventured out and had a lovely time at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.

John and Andy were eager to explore as much of the park as possible and when they had seen everything that they wanted to they enjoyed a hot drink and snack in the cafe before heading back to the home to share stories with the other residents.
