Activities at Balclutha Court Care Home

At Balclutha Court our resident’s happiness is extremely important to us. We all know that a large part of this is keeping active and continuing to enjoy your interests and hobbies. At Balclutha Court, we have regular activities including arts and crafts, music, entertainment, trips to local attractions such as canal trips, safari parks and many more. Our activities team are always busy organising events, entertainment and excursions with the broadest possible appeal and many of our residents see living at Balclutha Court as an opportunity to develop a new skill or interest. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Balclutha Court Care Home

A perfect picture!

Is it really a Christmas picture if everyone is looking at the camera anyway? Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. WELL THATS NOT ACTUALLY TRUE, it was actually really quite noisy. There was music, dancing, a wee tipple, amazing grub from our fabulous chef and obviously as alway lots of laughter.

Community gift

Thank you so much to our friends at proud 2 care Your Voice Inverclyde  for these amazing wee individualised chocolate bars and card from the kids. They really brought a smile to our faces. We will definitely be needing a trip to the dentist now we hope your Christmas was as fabulous as you!

Strike a pose

Residents a Balclutha have been posing for the camera in our photo booth. We plan on making our pictures into special gifts for family and friends, maybe a wee something to hand on the tree of fireplace. You will just have to wait and see.

National Robin Day

We took a wee break from Christmas today at Balclutha Court. Instead we paid tribute the National Robin Day by decorating some wee houses to keep our feathered friends warm in our garden. Its was like 60minute make over for birds that Laurence Llewelyn-Bowenkirk would have been proud of.

Cinderella

If we can't go to the panto then the panto shall come to us!!  Residents at Balclutha Court enjoyed a wee shout at the big screen while enjoying a South  Sheilds production of cindarella. OH YES WE DID!!

Magic of the Nutcracker

We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.

Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.

The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
