Parkinson's disease charity thanks volunteers for essential help

A major Parkinson's disease charity is using Volunteers' Week as an opportunity to thank all those who support its work.

Parkinson's UK is reliant upon the time and commitment of volunteers, who help the charity to make life better for people living with the condition.

Volunteers Week serves as a chance to highlight this work, and raise the profile of the role played by regular contributors, the charity claims.

Those wishing to volunteer can help in any number of ways, from being a chair or treasurer of a local branch of the charity, or helping with fundraising projects in the local area.

One such contributor is Bob Taylor, who himself has Parkinsons. He told the charity: "I don't know all the answers, but I have the desire to improve the lives of others and empower anybody who is open to improving their own life."

Parkinson's disease affects around one in every 500 UK citizens, equating to about 120,000 people in the UK currently living with the condition.
