Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and are reflected in the activities they organise.

A Wonderful Morning at the Sunflower Café!

It was lovely to attend the Sunflower Café Dementia Group at St Peter's Church, last Friday, courtesy of Jenny Thornton from Right at Home Camberley & Woking. It was fantastic to chat to guests and do engaging puzzles and a fun wordsearch together with David, Val, Margaret, Ray, John and Ann. The cherry on the top was some absolutely wonderful music from a group of very charming guitarists.

Every piece of feedback helps us celebrate what we are doing well and, importantly, highlights how we can evolve. We are fully committed to ensuring our home continuously moves forward, keeping us entirely ahead when it comes to delivering exceptional, person-centred care.

Our Resident Champion steals the show!

Morocco Day at Church of the Good Shepherd was a truly wonderful and beautifully hosted afternoon!

A huge thank you to Graham, our incredible Resident Champion and residents Jean and Graeme also for being such good sports and making the day so memorable. We also want to give a special shout-out to Home Instead Guildford & Woking - Home Care & Live-In Care and all of the volunteers at the church for hosting such a wonderful event.

Housekeeper Appreciation Week

We are shining a well-deserved spotlight on our incredible housekeeper, Merryl Eagles.

Merryl works tirelessly to keep our home beautifully clean, fresh, and welcoming every single day. She is always helpful, exceptionally hardworking, and brings so much joy to our home. It is no surprise that our residents absolutely love her!

Thank you, Merryl, for your dedication, your warm heart, and everything you do to make Weystone Manor feel like home. You are truly appreciated!

Sensory Smiles & Beautiful Blooms

A couple of our lovely residents spent a wonderful morning flower arranging with Lynn from Blooming Useful Floral Art & Design . There is truly nothing better than the simple joy of touching the soft petals and taking in the beautiful, fresh scents of nature. It was a heart warming session filled with smiles and creativity.

A Magical Morning of Music!

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the wonderful children from Barnsbury Primary School into our home on Friday for a special singing performance! Kamilla played the guitar and our residents were completely captivated by the children's beautiful voices.
There were smiles all around the room, with everyone tapping their toes and enthusiastically singing along to songs such as 'What A Wonderful Day'. Moments like these highlight the beautiful power of intergenerational connections, bringing so much joy, energy, and warmth to start our residents' day.
A huge thank you to the pupils and staff of Barnsbury Primary for visiting us and making it such a memorable morning.

A Little Bach To Soothe The Soul

The incredibly talented violinist Lizz delighted our residents with a beautiful performance of classical music.

A particular highlight was hearing some Bach, specially requested by our resident Graeme, followed by a lively touch of Oktoberfest spirit to get everyone smiling! Thank you, Lizz, for bringing so much joy to our home.

Nigel and Rebecca are reunited!

The residents lounge was filled with sheer joy and warmth on Friday when we arranged a very special surprise for our convalescing resident, Nigel. We brought in his best friend of 40 years, his beloved parrot, Rebecca to see him! The heart warming reunion brought touching hugs and so many smiles. Nigel enjoyed introducing Rebecca to other residents and staff.

We are so glad we could make this beautiful moment happen for Nigel and his lifelong companion, with the assistance by Rose from his wonderful care at home agency Walfinch Guildford and Woking and his helpful and friendly neighbour.

Word Search Wizards at Weystone Manor!

We had a peaceful afternoon last Monday. Our residents spent a relaxing couple of hours comfortably seated in our elegant lounge enjoying a quiet word search.

A special shout-out to our amazing Jean, who is 101 years young and absolutely excellent at them! She was spotting the hidden words faster than anyone else in the room.

Expert Prostate Health Talk

We were extremely lucky to host an informative evening talk on prostate health on Thursday. A huge thank you to Mr Wissam Abou-Chedid, Senior Urologist and Robotic Surgeon from Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust for sharing his expertise with our residents and guests. Coffee, Cake And Connection

It was fantastic hosting our monthly business brunch. A huge thank you to all the local businesses and care professionals who joined us. We loved sharing ideas and strengthening our community ties! Thank you also to Simon Moore from WinGate Financial Partners, LLC for his presentation on Later Life Planning and Care Annuities.

Diving into local history!

We had a wonderful time one afternoon as we welcomed the team from the Woking Lightbox for a fascinating history talk. Our residents loved exploring old photographs, sharing stories, and learning more about the rich heritage of our local area. A huge thank you to The Lightbox for bringing such an engaging and nostalgic experience right into our home!

A wonderful start for Moveball!

We had a brilliant afternoon launching our very first Moveball session. The atmosphere in the home was full of joy, laughter, and great energy.

A special thank you to Mark, who did a fantastic job leading the session with so much patience, warmth, and care. Thank you to all our wonderful residents who joined in and made the day so memorable. We are already looking forward to the next one!

And They Call It...Puppy Love!

Our Head of Maintenance, Simon, brought along a very special guest last week - his mum's adorable black Labrador puppy, Nova!

Nova spent the morning being thoroughly spoiled by the residents, giving out endless cuddles, and exploring the home. Simon might be in charge of fixing things, but Nova definitely fixed everyone up with a massive smile today!
