Activities at Elderwood House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which will be reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Drew Trinder
Activities Lead
Hi, my name is Drew. I have worked in the care sector for 2½ years, after previously working as a hairdresser. I absolutely love being in care and everything it involves especially spending time with residents and seeing them day to day. Knowing that I’ve made even the smallest difference to someone’s life brings me the greatest enjoyment.
I’ll be here, there and everywhere, so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything. If I can help, I will, if not, I’ll make sure I find someone who can. As we are a family at Elderwood and just want the best for our residents.
I’m a family-oriented person who loves baking, spending time with loved ones, and going on holiday.
Celebrating life at Elderwood House Care Home

Summer Treats in the Garden
There’s something truly special about enjoying the simple pleasures of summer together. Our residents recently spent a relaxing afternoon in the garden, savouring fresh strawberries dipped in rich chocolate while making the most of the glorious sunshine.
Surrounded by beautiful outdoor spaces, the afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation, and moments of quiet relaxation. These shared experiences encourage friendships, promote wellbeing, and remind us that some of life’s happiest moments are often the simplest.
At Elderwood House, we believe creating meaningful moments every day is just as important as providing exceptional care, helping our residents feel truly at home.

Supporting Our Community
At Elderwood House, we believe in being an active part of the Hextable community. That’s why we’re proud to be sponsoring Hextable Primary School’s Summer Fair.
We’re looking forward to joining pupils, families and local residents for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of fun and celebration. Supporting local schools and community events is just one of the ways we help residents stay connected to the community they know and love.
As we continue to grow, we warmly welcome opportunities to work alongside local schools, charities, businesses and community groups. Together, we’re creating meaningful partnerships that enrich the lives of our residents and help make Elderwood House a welcoming hub at the heart of the local community.

Spa Bath Experience
At Elderwood House, we believe exceptional care is about supporting wellbeing as well as meeting individual care needs. Our luxurious assisted spa bath provides residents with a relaxing and therapeutic experience in a safe, comfortable environment.
Featuring soothing mood lighting and specialist bathing equipment, the spa bath offers the perfect opportunity to unwind, promote relaxation and enjoy a little extra comfort and indulgence. It is just one of the many thoughtful touches that make life at Elderwood House truly special.

Pet Therapy Brings Smiles to Elderwood House
There were smiles all around at Elderwood House as our residents enjoyed a wonderful pet therapy visit. Spending time with our friendly four-legged visitors brought comfort, laughter and plenty of happy memories, with residents enjoying cuddles, conversation and companionship.
Pet therapy is a fantastic way to promote wellbeing, encourage social interaction and create meaningful moments, and it was lovely to see the positive impact it had on everyone involved. We look forward to welcoming our furry friends back to Elderwood again soon!

Building Friendships Across the Generations
At Elderwood Care Home, we were delighted to welcome the wonderful pupils and teachers from Hextable Primary School for a fun-filled afternoon of intergenerational activities. Residents and children enjoyed a giant conversation dice game, sharing stories and memories, before teaming up for a lively quiz filled with laughter and friendly competition.
These visits are about so much more than games. They create meaningful opportunities for our residents to connect with younger generations, reminisce and share their life experiences, while helping children develop confidence, empathy and understanding.
A huge thank you to everyone at Hextable Primary School for making our first visit such a success. We look forward to welcoming them back to Elderwood for many more memorable afternoons together.

Employee of the month
We are delighted to share that Nicola, our home administrator has been given our very first Employee of the Month award here at Elderwood House.
Nicola has worked incredibly hard over the past months to support the commissioning of the home, her dedication and support to her team is fantastic and we all agree she is extremely deserving of this award.
Congratulations Nicola!

Time together to treasure
Family time is precious, and our private dining room offers the perfect setting to enjoy it. Graham and his loved ones recently shared a delicious meal prepared by our Head Chef, Joe Sackett, enjoying quality time together in a relaxed and elegant environment. It’s just one of the many ways we help residents continue making special memories with the people who matter most.
Meaningful Moments
At Elderwood House, activities are shaped around the interests and preferences of the people who live here. Residents recently enjoyed a game of Rummikub and interactive sessions on our Magic Table, sharing conversation, laughter and time together.
These person-centred moments support independence, encourage social connection and help residents continue enjoying the hobbies and interests that are important.
