Activities at Darcy Gardens Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which will be reflected in the activities they organise.

Activties Co Ordinator

I am the Activities Coordinator here at Darcy Gardens, and while Barchester is new to me, enriching the lives of our residents will always be at the heart of what I do. I am passionate about creating meaningful experiences that bring interaction, enjoyment and fun into everyday life, helping residents feel motivated, valued and connected.

With a background in later living communities, customer service management and hospitality, I bring a passionate, person centred approach which will allow me to provide a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home. I am also a qualified florist, which allows me to add a creative touch to many of our activities and events.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting and creating, as well as spending precious time with my little boy and family. Making people smile is what truly motivates me, and I am dedicated to ensuring that every day at Darcy Gardens is filled with laughter, creativity and special moments

Celebrating life at Darcy Gardens Care Home

Meet Jo and Sharon - Darcy Gardens Administration Team

Meet Jo and Sharon - Darcy Gardens Administration Team

Jo and Sharon are central to the smooth running of operations at Darcy Gardens, forming the backbone of our administrative function.

Jo is often the first friendly face to welcome you. Managing the reception area with warmth and professionalism, she ensures residents, families, colleagues, and visitors feel supported and valued from the moment they arrive.

Sharon manages the wider operational administration functions across the home. Her responsibilities include financial administration, HR administration, rotas, and overseeing all Barchester Healthcare systems to ensure compliance and efficiency. She is also part of the sales team, bringing a dynamic approach and a keen eye for detail to everything she does.

They can’t wait to meet you and get to know our residents, families, and the wider community.

Care Home Administration is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of everything we do. It includes:

Supporting regulatory compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Managing resident admissions and maintaining accurate records

Being a welcoming first point of contact for families and professionals

Supporting staff recruitment, onboarding, and HR records

 Handling invoicing and financial administration

Assisting with events, marketing, and community engagement

It’s a role that requires organisation, compassion, discretion, and excellent communication skills  and it plays a vital part in creating a warm, well-run home for our residents.

Fun Facts

  • Sharon has lived in several countries and enjoys a hot cross bun for breakfast at the weekend.
  • Jo spends most of her time at home watching sports , with her favourites being Football, Rugby and Cricket
Lottie's Lot

Lottie's Lot

Our very first evening soirée in our stunning café area.

An evening filled with wine, nibbles, laughter and wonderful conversation.

We were delighted to welcome our newly named quiz team — Lottie’s Lot — already bringing fun and friendly competition to Darcy Gardens!

Guests enjoyed an evening tour of our home, sharing comments such as “It feels like a hotel” and “So warm, comfortable and homely.” Exactly how we want everyone to feel.

Every detail of Darcy Gardens has been thoughtfully designed, with careful consideration given to both comfort and the environment. Alongside the warmth and beautiful surroundings, there is also the reassurance of exceptional clinical standards — true five-star care delivered with professionalism, compassion and dignity.

We also had exciting discussions about future joint ventures including a chess club, Mastermind challenge evenings, art exhibitions, family film nights and much more — watch this space!

And a very special highlight… the first visit from Lottie the dog

A wonderful start to many more evenings of friendship, community and connection at Darcy Gardens

This week we hosted a special taster event at Darcy Gardens so people could sample some of the delicious food we will be serving our residents.

Networking & Creating Meaningful Connections

Networking & Creating Meaningful Connections

In February, Aga and Angela had the pleasure of attending a networking event with Bath Rotary Club.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local professionals, share ideas, and build relationships that truly strengthen our community.

Networking isn’t just about exchanging business cards  it’s about creating meaningful connections, understanding how we can support one another, and working collaboratively to make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who made the evening so welcoming and inspiring. I’m looking forward to continuing the conversations and building on these new connections.

We are looking forward to attending the next event on the 11th March

Lights, Camera, Action

Lights, Camera, Action

Darcy Gardens recently hosted a two-day professional filming project, bringing together staff and actors in a collaborative and highly creative environment.

The production was directed by an experienced professional team, ensuring a structured and high-quality approach throughout. What made the project particularly special was the seamless blend of knowledge, skill and lived experience from our own team alongside professional performers.

We are especially proud of Monica, who took on a significant role across a number of scenes, showcasing remarkable confidence and previously unseen talents.

This project represents another step forward in how we share the Darcy Gardens story — with authenticity, professionalism and heart.

Further details will be shared soon.

Soft Launch at Darcy Gardens – A Culinary Success

Soft Launch at Darcy Gardens – A Culinary Success

At Darcy Gardens Care Home, exceptional hospitality is woven into everyday life. Under the expert guidance of Head Chef Nuno, our culinary team is redefining dining within care  creating moments of pleasure, connection and indulgence around the table.

Our recent culinary soft launch marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

From the first welcoming aromas of artisan bread, freshly baked in-house that morning, guests were immersed in an atmosphere of warmth and understated elegance. Each detail was considered. Each dish thoughtfully composed.

A refined three-course luncheon was served effortlessly across our beautifully appointed dining rooms, showcasing not only culinary artistry, but precision, teamwork and passion from Chef Nuno and his brigade.

Seasonal ingredients. Elegant presentation. Balanced, flavour-led menus.

Every plate leaving the kitchen reflected our philosophy — that dining should be a daily highlight.

The response was immediate and heartfelt:

Clean plates.

Requests for seconds.

Smiles shared across the table.

This was more than a launch. It was a statement of intent.

At Darcy Gardens, we believe restaurant-quality dining belongs at the heart of exceptional care. With a state-of-the-art kitchen and a team devoted to excellence, we are proud to offer a hospitality experience that delights the senses and nurtures wellbeing.
