Activities at Darcy Gardens Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which will be reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Elizabeth Tucker
Activties Co Ordinator
I am the Activities Coordinator here at Darcy Gardens, and while Barchester is new to me, enriching the lives of our residents will always be at the heart of what I do. I am passionate about creating meaningful experiences that bring interaction, enjoyment and fun into everyday life, helping residents feel motivated, valued and connected.
With a background in later living communities, customer service management and hospitality, I bring a passionate, person centred approach which will allow me to provide a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home. I am also a qualified florist, which allows me to add a creative touch to many of our activities and events.
In my free time, I enjoy crafting and creating, as well as spending precious time with my little boy and family. Making people smile is what truly motivates me, and I am dedicated to ensuring that every day at Darcy Gardens is filled with laughter, creativity and special moments
Celebrating life at Darcy Gardens Care Home
Bath Business Breakfast
Angela Grace attended the Radio Bath Business Breakfast a thank you to Vicky Whip of Sage & Elder for the kind invite.
Keynote speakers included the Castle Combe Race Track Experience Team and Gough Solicitors, alongside a great pop-up podcast with Bath Radio.
A fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in Bath, while further promoting Darcy Gardens’ premium care offering and supporting the local business community and residents of Bath.
Encouraging discussions around Bath BID, coverage from the Echo Newspaper, and potential future links with Bath College.
We look forward to the forthcoming monthly networking events.
We also Welcomed Vicky Whip to Darcy Gardens this week, Sage and Elder, bringing wisdom, warmth, and guidance to the community.
With years of experience working with a leading later living developer, and having supported many individuals and families through the often complex journey of moving home in later life, Vicky founded Sage & Elder to help more people over 60 find the right home for their needs.
During her visit, Vicky met with Angela Grace, Home Service Advisor, strengthening connections and building networks to better support those transitioning into care.
Through a compassionate, wraparound approach, every individual is supported to feel connected, valued, and truly at home.
Celebrating a Vibrant Opening at Darcy Gardens
The official opening of Darcy Gardens was not only a significant milestone, but also a truly memorable occasion defined by its warm and vibrant atmosphere.
From the moment guests arrived, they were welcomed by our wonderful hospitality team, whose professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine warmth ensured that everyone felt comfortable and valued throughout the day. Their efforts played a key role in creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment for all in attendance.
The event itself was filled with energy and positivity, bringing together a diverse group of guests from across the community. Conversations flowed सहजly, connections were made, and there was a shared sense of excitement about the future of Darcy Gardens.
The lively yet elegant setting, combined with the enthusiasm of our guests and team, created an atmosphere that truly reflected the spirit of our home welcoming, inclusive, and full of life.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion and helped make the day so memorable.
Community - The Hive - Cllr Karen Walker
A lovely and productive afternoon meeting with Cllr Karen Walker and Alison, Easy Read Coordinator for Bath.
It was great to explore opportunities for joint ventures, networking, and understanding the evolving needs of the community.
With the library acting as a hub for the community in Peasedown St John, alongside the Hive Community Centre, there are wonderful opportunities to strengthen connections locally. We also discussed how Darcy Gardens Residential Care can play an active role in supporting and engaging with the community.
Mothers Day
Mothering Sunday in the Oldfield Community
A truly heart-warming Mothering Sunday shared together today.
Following Mass, the community gathered for coffee at St John Church Oldfield Road. Children presented Easter lilies (daffodils) to mums, mothers, and those who lovingly take on that special role.
A lovely floristry session with Liz created wonderful flower jars, shared across the community. A special moment when Liz’s son visited with flowers, chocolates, and a card for his mum at work today.
He also arranged a special delivery for his gran, sending flowers from Darcy Gardens to one of the sister homes, Bloomfield Care Home for his Gran.
These meaningful jars of flowers were also shared with neighbours at the Moorfield Inn opposite the care home, spreading kindness throughout the Oldfield community.
A day of flowers, kindness, and community spirit

Sensory Delight for those living with Dementia
A truly special sensory, dementia-friendly session with Liz our Activties Co Ordinator. In our Saloon.
Every sense was thoughtfully explored—from the calming cinema room to the relaxing spa-style post-treatment area. Gentle hand massages, beautiful spring poems, and delicious cake & refreshments created a warm and comforting atmosphere throughout.
Liz’s incredible eye for detail made the experience even more meaningful. Sensory sessions like these are so valuable for residents living with dementia—helping to reduce anxiety and agitation, stimulate memory and cognitive function, encourage communication and social interaction, and promote a sense of calm, comfort, and overall wellbeing.
Interactive Additions to the Activties Team and Activties Programme
We are delighted to introduce a new addition to Darcy Gardens: our interactive activities tablet, now fully installed and ready for use across the home.
This innovative resource has been carefully selected to enhance the daily experiences of our residents by providing a wide range of meaningful and engaging activities. It supports cognitive stimulation through games, quizzes, and puzzles, while also offering music and reminiscence sessions designed to evoke positive memories and emotional connection.
In addition, the tablet enables virtual travel experiences, allowing residents to explore the world from the comfort of their home, and encourages meaningful interaction with loved ones. It also facilitates enjoyable group activities, helping to foster a strong sense of community within the home.
We believe that technology, when thoughtfully implemented, can play a vital role in enhancing wellbeing, promoting independence, and enriching quality of life—particularly for those living with dementia.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact this new initiative will bring to our residents and the wider Darcy Gardens community
Bath Half Mathron
Wishing everyone the very best for the Bath Half Marathon tomorrow!

From all of us at Darcy Gardens, we’re cheering you on and supporting every runner along the way.
Remember to keep hydrated, pace yourselves, and if you’re passing by, feel free to stop for a refreshing drink and a moment of encouragement
Marie Antionette V&A- Live Virtual Event
A wonderful, beautiful and stylish afternoon with such thoughtful attention to detail by Elizabeth our Activties Co Ordinator
From the comfort of Darcy Gardens, we joined a virtual live event with the V&A, bringing their current Marie Antoinette fashion exhibition to life and making it wonderfully accessible.
We painted Marie Antoinette–inspired watercolours while learning fascinating facts about her favourite desserts and artistic painting techniques.
The cinema made the perfect venue — comfortable, warm and cosy — with tables thoughtfully arranged so we could easily paint and rest our palettes and brushes.
Delicious French fancies and macarons added to the atmosphere… truly “Let them eat cake!”
There was inspiring conversation throughout the afternoon, including special guests visiting from the Cotswolds, bringing fun and warmth to the gathering.
Guests can also enjoyed a tour of Darcy Gardens, meet the wonderful team, and discover the many adventures and inspirational activities planned.
