Activities at Darcy Gardens Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which will be reflected in the activities they organise.

VIP Day Darcy Gardens
We were delighted to celebrate the VIP launch and official opening of Darcy Gardens, our new luxury care home in Bath. Held on Thursday 5th March, the occasion was marked by beautiful spring weather, providing a perfect setting for such a significant milestone.
The grand opening was officiated by the Deputy Mayor of Bath, Councillor Ian Halsall, in the presence of distinguished guests, colleagues, community organisations, and representatives from local emergency services. The event was exceptionally well attended, reflecting the strong support and interest from across the community.
Guests were welcomed by our Commercial Director, Simon McCall, and Senior General Manager, Agnieszka Musial, who hosted the event and invited attendees to explore the stunning new 68-bed care home. Darcy Gardens is now open and warmly welcoming its first residents.

We finished the day with ‘Turning Pages’, a time for us to share our favourite books and reading aloud. Today we were joined by the adorable Sebastian (Sebby, Monica’s son) our Deputy General Manager who brought a variety of marine animal themed books to share. The whale and the snail and Tiny whale. They were delighted with his beautiful reading.
Spring Afternoon Tea, National Tea Day & St Georges Day
Today we celebrated St George’s Day with a truly special afternoon filled with warmth, community, and sunshine.
We were delighted to welcome children from St John’s Catholic School, who shared a beautiful poem that brought smiles to everyone in the room. A highlight of the day was a meaningful visit to one of our first residents, where the poem was read again—creating a touching connection through shared family ties with the school.
We were also pleased to be joined by our sister homes, Bloomfield and Kingswood, along with members of our local community and residents, making the afternoon even more memorable.
A big thank you to Amy, our Head Chef, for preparing such delicious food that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
With the sun shining and our garden looking its best, it truly was a perfect spring afternoon. We also look forward to warmly welcoming a new resident joining us this weekend
Darcy Gardens Welcomes First Residents and Marks Milestone with Inaugural Experience
Darcy Gardens is pleased to announce the arrival of its first six residents, representing a significant milestone in the launch of the new community and Care home in Bath.
Agnieszka Musial Senior General Manager
We are absolutely delighted to welcome our first residents to Darcy Gardens. All residents have settled in very well and are already enjoying the luxury surroundings and warm, homely environment we have created. I am incredibly proud of our dedicated team, whose hard work and commitment have made this opening possible. Together, we are focused on ensuring every resident feels welcomed, valued, and truly at home.”
To mark the occasion, residents were invited to take part in their first organised outing an exclusive visit to Highgrove Gardens, the private residence of King Charles III.
The 1½-hour guided tour provided residents with insight into the gardens’ heritage, organic management, and design principles. Highlights included the Cottage Garden and the Wildflower Meadow, both of which demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, and horticultural excellence.
The visit also incorporated a private afternoon tea experience, where residents were able to enjoy high-quality hospitality in a relaxed and elegant setting. Throughout the day, residents engaged in informative discussions on topics such as topiary, beekeeping, and environmental stewardship.
With favourable weather conditions enhancing the experience, the visit delivered both a stimulating and restorative day.
This inaugural outing reflects Darcy Gardens’ commitment to delivering a high standard of lifestyle programming, supporting resident wellbeing, social engagement, and meaningful experiences from the outset.
Aga Senior General Manager at Darcy Gardens, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome our first residents to Darcy Gardens. From the very beginning, our focus has been on creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment where people feel truly at home. Margaret said: “We have all had the most wonderful time visiting Highgrove. It is so lovely to be able to visit places like this and soak up the atmosphere. I especially liked the topiary and contrast between light and shade in the garden. The Meadow was so English like a constable painting.
Miriam enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea and bought some shortbread biscuits for her husband who couldn’t make the trip. “We will enjoy these at Darcy Gardens whilst looking at the photographs.
We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our time at Darcy Gardens.
Sensory Delight for those living with Dementia
A truly special sensory, dementia-friendly session with Liz our Activties Co Ordinator. In our Saloon.
Every sense was thoughtfully explored—from the calming cinema room to the relaxing spa-style post-treatment area. Gentle hand massages, beautiful spring poems, and delicious cake & refreshments created a warm and comforting atmosphere throughout.
Liz’s incredible eye for detail made the experience even more meaningful. Sensory sessions like these are so valuable for residents living with dementia—helping to reduce anxiety and agitation, stimulate memory and cognitive function, encourage communication and social interaction, and promote a sense of calm, comfort, and overall wellbeing.
Interactive Additions to the Activties Team and Activties Programme
We are delighted to introduce a new addition to Darcy Gardens: our interactive activities tablet, now fully installed and ready for use across the home.
This innovative resource has been carefully selected to enhance the daily experiences of our residents by providing a wide range of meaningful and engaging activities. It supports cognitive stimulation through games, quizzes, and puzzles, while also offering music and reminiscence sessions designed to evoke positive memories and emotional connection.
In addition, the tablet enables virtual travel experiences, allowing residents to explore the world from the comfort of their home, and encourages meaningful interaction with loved ones. It also facilitates enjoyable group activities, helping to foster a strong sense of community within the home.
We believe that technology, when thoughtfully implemented, can play a vital role in enhancing wellbeing, promoting independence, and enriching quality of life—particularly for those living with dementia.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact this new initiative will bring to our residents and the wider Darcy Gardens community
May Day Wishes
A beautiful afternoon creating May Day wish cards in a delicate decoupage style. Using layered vintage prints, patterns, and images, residents crafted a wonderful range of unique and elegant designs.
All enjoyed while listening to a soothing montage of classical music, creating a calm, creative, and uplifting atmosphere for everyone.
Then some poetry -The Groups Favourite.
“Lines Written in Early Spring”
by William Wordsworth
I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.
Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.
The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.
The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.
If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?
A beautiful reflection on nature, renewal, and the gentle spirit of spring
Sip, Paint and Fizz
Sip, Paint & Fizz
A relaxing afternoon of watercolours, creativity, and connection. Residents and family members came together to enjoy gentle painting, warm conversation, and a glass of fizz in a welcoming atmosphere.
Inspired by some truly beautiful sunsets recently especially from the terraces at Darcy Gardens and our visit to Highgrove Gardens, where we had the privilege of viewing watercolours by King Charles III.
The Fizz was delicious too.
Bath Business Breakfast
Angela Grace attended the Radio Bath Business Breakfast a thank you to Vicky Whip of Sage & Elder for the kind invite.
Keynote speakers included the Castle Combe Race Track Experience Team and Gough Solicitors, alongside a great pop-up podcast with Bath Radio.
A fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in Bath, while further promoting Darcy Gardens’ premium care offering and supporting the local business community and residents of Bath.
Encouraging discussions around Bath BID, coverage from the Echo Newspaper, and potential future links with Bath College.
We look forward to the forthcoming monthly networking events.
We also Welcomed Vicky Whip to Darcy Gardens this week, Sage and Elder, bringing wisdom, warmth, and guidance to the community.
With years of experience working with a leading later living developer, and having supported many individuals and families through the often complex journey of moving home in later life, Vicky founded Sage & Elder to help more people over 60 find the right home for their needs.
During her visit, Vicky met with Angela Grace, Home Service Advisor, strengthening connections and building networks to better support those transitioning into care.
Through a compassionate, wraparound approach, every individual is supported to feel connected, valued, and truly at home.

Community - The Hive - Cllr Karen Walker
A lovely and productive afternoon meeting with Cllr Karen Walker and Alison, Easy Read Coordinator for Bath.
It was great to explore opportunities for joint ventures, networking, and understanding the evolving needs of the community.
