Activities at Bere Grove Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hollie Wren

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I'm Hollie. I have worked in healthcare for six years taking on a variety of roles. I am so proud to be heading up the activity team and supporting our residents with a life-enriching programme of events. I am highly motivated and love sharing my creative and imaginative side with everyone. I truly believe age is just a number and there is nothing we cannot achieve if we work together.

I like to create a person-centred activity programme so each resident gets the opportunity to enjoy what they love. This is their time to relax, enjoy and have fun.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Its Christmas Time

We've had a fun filled day here at Bere Grove! Our Santa hats went on and the presents came out!

We spent the morning wrapping up presents brought for relatives or friends, and also some empty boxes for Santa to fill on Christmas day. This afternoon we watched Mary Poppins, baked Christmas cookies in our residents kitchen, and also had the Blendworth Church Centre visit for the Advent Film Night!

It's all happening here this Christmas

Our very first Christmas Fete

Both residents and staff had an amazing time raising money for an Alzheimers charity, through our Christmas Fayre

We had many many stalls, some reindeer that looked very much like ponies, some fabulous singing from 'Tea for Two' and even a treasure hunt.

Thanks to our fabulous community came out in the rain to support our event - Thank you

Christmas Jumper Day

Earlier this week  we celebrated National Christmas Jumper Day! The staff and residents got their festive cheer on listening and singing to Christmas songs, creating Christmas crafts and cards, socialising and drinking yummy hot chocolate!

Colin was our winner of the competition which was judged by our fantastic hairdresser Michelle Shells Hair Designs! A very big festive well done to Colin

The Perfect Ten

PERFECT 10!  LOCAL CARE HOME CELEBRATES MAXIMUM REVIEW SCORE

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Bere Grove care home in Horndean are delighted to reach their goal of a perfect overall score of 10 on the independent care home review website, carehome.co.uk, all within months of the home opening.

Carehome.co.uk is often one of the first places people will look when searching for a care home for a loved one.  It is independently run to ensure that all reviews are vetted and come from people who have genuine experience of the homes that they are reviewing.

General Manager of Bere Grove, Alexandria Bowman, said: “We are beyond thrilled to reach a perfect overall score of 10 on carehome.co.uk, it just goes to show what a credit to the home the team at Bere Grove really are.  I am so proud of each and every one of them for all of their hard work and dedication to the people they care for.  We have a fantastic team here, I’m so lucky to work with such wonderful people and to have such lovely residents.”
