"This was an excellent care home for my father, for the last few days of his life. He was 96 and had mild dementia and by the time he got to the home, he was cheerful, but ready to go. The staff were fantastic - discreet, caring, attentive and highly sympathetic. You could not ask for more. The care home itself is very clean and well maintained: it is clearly a well-managed property with staff who feel sufficiently rewarded to reflect kindness and compassion to the residents."

From the moment I walked into Pittsmead Grange, I knew I had found somewhere very special. It feels much more like a community or a luxury hotel than a care home. It seems the staff really take their time to get to know their residents and they’re all so happy with living in this home. It is absolutely spotless and fresh, there’s always something engaging going on and they go above and beyond with dining. High quality meals and a great choice of nutritional options. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with genuine respect and kindness, this is it.

My mother initially stayed at Pinetree for respite care, within a week she decided that she would like to carry on living there. From the front desk where Loretta greets you through to all the very caring staff there helping the residents is their priority.

Visited a friend and was very impressed. The staff are friendly, approachable, and clearly committed to the residents’ wellbeing. They organise family days and activities, creating a welcoming and engaging environment. My friend seemed well cared for, with all needs attentively met. The home feels clean, safe, and comfortable, making it a reassuring place for both residents and their families. A caring, professional team that goes the extra mile.

"On arrival at your nursing home i was always made to feel very welcome. The open kitchen diner was always very homely with guests watching tv, being asked their own choice of breakfast. The home always felt clean. The residents are very well looked after and respected for their individuality. Every visit was a special one each with their own memories and take my friends mum out in her wheelchair for a coffee."

This review is based on a professional view attending as a community nurse. I have been attending the home since June 2025. All staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Providing a warm, comfortable environment for the residents and their families. During this time the home has had a renovation on the ground floor providing beautiful homely surroundings for all to enjoy. The staff ensure they provide the best possible person centred care for all their residents, going above and beyond to ensure all the residents needs are met to a high standard. Whilst ensuring privacy, dignity and compassion at all times, with prompt referrals to the wider MDT to ensure the best patient care is provided to support with any current health needs. The home has an activities team providing a variety of activities for all the residents to enjoy and participate in several times a day. This home is a fantastic home and would recommend to anyone looking for their loved ones.

I visited Pittsmead Grange today and was amazed by the atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the lovely, attentive staff who clearly care deeply about their work. The home is spotlessly clean, smells fresh and there’s plenty of room to walk around and sit. You could tell the residents were genuinely happy and comfortable. This care home is run so well and a great community. The staff and manager should be proud :-) x

Can’t recommend this home enough, after having a terrible experience previously we moved mum about 18 months ago, the standard of care was like chalk and cheese. Mum was always well dressed clean and tidy, and the food was always amazing. She loved having her hair and nails done, and enjoyed all the activities. Even when mum became so poorly they started to help get mum to the local garden centre in the mini bus so she could see all the Christmas decorations. Sadly we lost mum last week, and in a time of great sadness, I can’t tell you how amazing everyone was, constantly checking if we needed anything and never minding how many of us were in her room. She passed peacefully warm and well and truly loved. Really can’t say enough great things about this nursing home. Thank you all x

"My siblings and I were looking for care for our mother. After several hospital stays, my mother felt the time had come where she needed more care to help her live safely. We wanted somewhere close to where she has lived all her life and Hyacinth House was recommended and we loved it straightaway on visiting. My mother had been there now for about 6 weeks. The home itself is attractive, welcoming but not overwhelming and huge like some care homes are nowadays. Inside, everything is very clean and tastefully decorated. There is always a warm welcome for visitors too. Most importantly, everyone working there is so lovely and can't do enough for you and your family member. There are lots of activities every day, which she enjoys very much and has made lots of friend. Can't recommend Hyacinth House enough!!"

"After our Mum moved from another care home in Tavistock to Kernow, I can't tell you the difference of care she received. I went from crying every time I left her to sleeping like a baby knowing she was in such good care. I can't Recommend the nursing home enough, the level of care she received on a daily basis from the cleaning staff the amazing nurses, and the delicious food. We sadly lost Mum Last week and I can honestly say the compassion shown by every member of staff in the home for Mum's last few days was incredible. There wasn't a moment we weren't checked on looked after, offered tea coffees food nothing was too Much trouble. Mum was always kept so clean and tidy and she loved having her hair and nails done in the beauty parlour. When Mum got really poorly towards the end, they even gave us a hand in the minibus to take her down to Garden centre which was one of her most favourite things to do especially at Christmas with all the decorations. Thank you so much for everything."

"We can not fault the care given to Mum during her time at Kernow House. It was such a relief to know she was safe and so well looked after. Staff were always friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Mum settled in very quickly and we instantly knew we'd made the right choice in care facilities. The home is situated within walking distance of some great shops and a cafe which we were able to utilize enhancing Mum's quality of life. We'd like to thank everyone at Kernow House for the care and compassion shown to both Mum and family we will be eternally grateful."

After a two week spell in hospital (pulmonary embolism) I decided to opt for a fortnight's respite care at Flowerdown to save the burden of medication etc on my wife. I am glad I made that decision as, during my stay, I was impressed by the high standards at Flowerdown. Good facilities, amazingly helpful and patient staff, nutritious meals, and comfortable lounges with regular activities. From personal experience I can recommend Flowerdown Care Home.

Choosing a care home for your loved one is such a difficult thing to do. When I went to visit Mount Tryon for the first time I was so pleased and instantly put at ease. The home was so clean, well presented and more like a small friendly hotel. My relative has now been there for a few years. They look after them, care for them even when times are tuff and their condition can be very challenging for them and others.
From my experience I would definitely recommend them but go and visit them and make your own mind up.

"When I was looking for a place for my cousin to be in I visited here. I got a really good feeling about here. I was right. Firstly the staff are amazing, everyone is so friendly, helpful not only to my relative staying here but to myself on every visit. Every area is spotlessly clean and lovely furnishings. Although I am visiting I feel totally relaxed and that is the result of how well Station Court is looked after and the resident who are here"

Moved mum into Hundens Park Care Home last year and it’s been a fantastic experience. The difference in the quality of care from her last home is unbelievable. Can’t thank Ana and her fabulous team enough for the positive impact the home has had on our family.
